Ryan S. Aigler, 30

KENT – Ryan S. Aigler, 30, formerly of Girard, died Tuesday, June 2, 2009, at Akron City Hospital.

He was born Oct. 23, 1978, in Youngstown, the son of the late Kenneth Jr. and Margaret Susan (Armstrong) Aigler.

Ryan was a veteran of the Army and was a supporter of Angels for Kids Foundation (www.angelsforkidsamherst.com).

He is survived by his twin sister, Shanyn Flesch of Amherst; his sister Kelly Aigler of Girard; and his nieces and nephew, Jessie Greathouse, Samantha Flesch, and Brent Flesch.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Brenton Todd Aigler.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the McClurkin Funeral Home in Girard, with calling hours from 10 to 11 a.m.

Burial will be at Lake Park Cemetery.


Nellie “Anne” Antonelli, 88

“Together Again”

YOUNGSTOWN – Nellie “Anne” Antonelli, 88, passed away Wednesday evening at Ron Joy Nursing Home.

Nellie was born Dec. 8, 1920 in Youngstown, a daughter of Joseph and Concetta Infante Minotti, and was a lifelong resident.

She graduated from East High School in 1939. Nellie worked numerous jobs in her lifetime, including Aluminum Airseal Manufacturing and St. Elizabeth Health Center. Nellie was a Precinct Democratic Committee Woman for the Fifth Ward.

Nellie was a devout Catholic and a member of St. Christine Parish, where she was active in the Infant Jesus of Prague Guild.

She enjoyed her weekly bingo games and playing cards with friends.

She was married in April of 1941 to the love of her life, Joseph A. Antonelli, who passed away Aug. 2, 1977. Joseph had served as a Seabee in the U.S. Navy.

Nellie leaves with great pride, her son, Ron P. Antonelli and wife, Bridget of Liberty Township; her grandchildren, Sherri McKeown and husband, Daniel of Boardman, Ronald J. Antonelli and wife, Tammy of Raleigh, N.C., Paul Lindsay, Erik Lindsay and wife, Elke, all of whom were her pride and joy; and four great-grandchildren, whom she adored, Sean and Ryan McKeown, Mario and Marissa Antonelli. Also surviving are her sisters-in-law, Bianca Minotti and Elvina Minotti; and several nieces and nephews.

Nellie was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Her family was her life, nurturing and caring for them, especially cooking Italian delicacies and her famous pizza.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Elaine Lindsay; her parents, Concetta and Joseph Minotti; her stepmother, Margherite Minotti; brothers, Alfred, Angelo, Herman and Edward Minotti; and sister, Mary Zarlenga.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at the Schiavone Funeral Home, and one hour at the church on Saturday from 9 to 10 a.m. with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Christine Church.

“For those whose lives Nellie touched, the world is much richer and Heaven has one more Angel.”

Eloise “Ella” Pittman Comer, 60

YOUNGSTOWN – Funeral services will be at noon Saturday at the F.D. Mason Memorial Funeral Home Inc. for Mrs. Eloise “Ella” Pittman Comer, 60, who departed this life Tuesday, June 2, 2009, at her residence.

Mrs. Comer was born Nov. 30, 1948 in Johnsonville, S.C., a daughter of Roscoe and Anna Ruth Davis Pittman.

She had been a sales clerk for Wal-Mart, a member of the Antioch Baptist Church, and a 1967 graduate of The Rayen School.

She leaves her mother of Youngstown; children, Gary M. and Fayasha L. Gibson, both of Youngstown; two sisters, Itlean (Moses) Mahdee of Youngstown and Kelly A. Harvey of Niles; two brothers, Ricky W. (Victoria) Pittman of Youngstown and Marvin (Jean) Pittman of Richmond, Va.; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Her father and brother, Rocky Pittman, preceded her in death.

Viewing will be today from noon to 4 p.m.

Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that monetary donations be given to the funeral home.

Edna G. Gaudio, 95

AUSTINTOWN – Edna G. Gaudio, 95, formerly of Boardman, passed away Thursday, June 4, 2009, at Hospice House in Poland.

She was born April 30, 1914 in Steubenville, the daughter of the late Anthony Melone and Angeline (Trollio) Melone.

She was the wife of the late Ralph Gaudio Sr., whom she married Sept. 28, 1935.

Family includes a daughter, Janice (Nestor) Barrios of Boardman; two sons, Ralph (Kathy) Gaudio Jr. of Pittsburgh and Donald (Barbara) Gaudio Sr. of Boardman; sister, Helen Melone of Boardman; seven grandchildren, Tina (Bill) Evans, Donald Gaudio Jr., Anthony (Michelle) Gaudio, Jennifer Gaudio, Joseph Gaudio, Dina (Chris) Giampetro and Gina (Steve) Sirlanni.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brother, Thomas Melone; and two sisters, Margaret DeGenaro and Ann Melone.

She was an avid bowler with the seniors double league at Camelot Lanes and the senior league at Holiday Bowl. She also enjoyed bowling in the Senior Olympics.

Calling hours will be today, June 5, from 4 to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 9 to 9:30 a.m. at the Fabrizio Funeral Home, 619 East Indianola Ave. in Youngstown.

Her services will be at the Our Lady of Mt. Carmel at 10 a.m. on Saturday, June 6, 2009.

The family request that contributions be made at the funeral home for Hospice.


CW3 S. Blane Hepfner, 28

SCHOFIELD BARRACKS, HAWAII – CW3 S. Blane Hepfner of the U.S. Army, formerly of Hubbard, died Wednesday, May 27, 2009, as the result of a helicopter crash.

He was born Aug. 4, 1980 in Youngstown, a son of Stanley B. and Renee M. Orr Hepfner and lived in Hubbard until 1997.

CW3 Hepfner has served with the Army since he enlisted following graduation from Hubbard High School in 1997 and was a helicopter test pilot. Blane enlisted in the Army because of his grandfather, Bob Orr, whom he idolized, had served with the U.S. Army.

He enjoyed motorcycle riding and participated in many charity rides with several different motorcycle organizations he belonged to. The military was his life but he always enjoyed returning to the area and visiting with family and friends.

He leaves his father and mother, Ken and Renee Possert of Hubbard; a daughter, Kathryn White of Massachusetts; one brother, William Panning of Hubbard; one sister, Janelle Hepfner of North Carolina; a stepsister, Carrie (Eric) Barr of Hubbard; a half sister, Rebecca Hepfner of New Jersey; and his grandparents, Robert and Rhodena Orr of Hubbard, Joseph and Margaret Possert of Hubbard and Adrienne Hepfner of Youngstown. In addition, he leaves several aunts, uncles, cousins, and his many military brothers and sisters.

He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Samuel Hepfner.

Full military funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Hubbard Union Cemetery with the service conducted by the Military Honor Guard from Ft. Knox, Ky.

John Peter Lutton, 47

BOARDMAN – Private services were held for John Peter Lutton, 47, who passed away Monday evening at his residence.

Mr. Lutton was born Sept. 10, 1961 in Youngstown, a son of William and June Voytek Lutton.

He was a 1979 graduate of Wilmington High School and a truck mechanic. He loved to read.

John was a veteran of the Army, serving from 1979 to 1980.

Besides his mother, June Thompson, with whom he made his home, he leaves a daughter, Christine Lutton of Canfield; and a brother, James Lutton of Girard.

He was preceded in death by his father and his son, John Paul Lutton.

There are no calling hours.

Arrangements were handled by the Fox Funeral Home in Boardman.

Eugene “Gene” Edgar Miller, 81

LAKE MILTON – Eugene “Gene” Edgar Miller, 81, died Wednesday June 3, 2009, at Same Day Care Center.

Gene was born in Cleveland on June 22, 1927, the son of Edgar John and Olive Ada (Mock) Miller. He has lived in Lake Milton since 1967, formerly of Champion and Mineral Ridge.

After graduating from Orwell High School, Gene served in the U.S. Navy. Gene then attended and graduated from Hiram College with his teaching certificate. He was a 50-plus year member and past master of Hartsgrove Lodge No. 397.

In 1953, he began his sales career at Power Strut in Warren. In 1983, Gene founded RF Products Inc. in Lordstown, where he was still the current president of the company.

Gene is survived by his companion, Jeanette (Shrock) Miller of Lake Milton; daughters, Cheryl (Alan) Stevens of Lake Milton and Laura (Edward) Metzinger of Canfield; granddaughters, Carmela (Mark) Silvers of McDonald and Alana Banfield of Akron; grandsons, Alan Stevens Jr. of Joplin, Mo. and Aron Lough of Canfield; great-grandsons, Cody and Morgan Silvers of McDonald and Bryce and Blake Banfield of Akron; and his sister, Dorothy (Richard) Minick of Leesburg, Fla.

He was preceded in death by his son, Gary (Duke) Miller.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 6, 2009, at 11 a.m. at the James Funeral Home.

Calling hours will be held today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home, where a Masonic service will be held at 6:30 p.m.

Burial will be at Eckis Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to the American Cancer Society Relay for Life, 525 North Broad St., Canfield, OH 44406.

Eva Marie Reves, 80

STRUTHERS – Eva Marie Reves, 80, died June 3, 2009.

Mrs. Reves was born July 21, 1928 in Farrell, Pa., a daughter of Rade and Pauline Millich Jankovich.

She was a 1946 graduate of Farrell High School. Prior to her marriage, she worked for the Sharon Store in Sharon, Pa.

She was a member of St. Nicholas Roman Catholic Church in Struthers and the SNF Serbian Lodge. Mrs. Reves took great pride in taking care of her house and her family. She was also an avid Cleveland Cavaliers fan and enjoyed rooting them on as she watched them on television.

She leaves her husband, John Reves, whom she married May 10, 1952; her daughter, Donna Lynn Reves of Struthers; her son, David Reves of Mount Laurel, N.J.; a sister, Catherine Jankovich of Hermitage, Pa.; a brother, Sam (Rose) Jankovich of Farrell; a nephew, Dr. Peter (Connie) Jankovich Jr. of Mercer, Pa.; a great-nephew, Jeffrey Jankovich of Arlington, Va.; and a great-niece, Allison Jankovich of Springfield, Va.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Peter Jankovich Sr. and his wife, Alice Jankovich.

Funeral services will be held Monday at 10:15 a.m. at the Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home in Poland and 11 a.m. at St. Nicholas Roman Catholic Church. Interment will follow at St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery in Lowellville.

Family and friends will be received Sunday from 3 to 6 p.m. at the funeral home.

The family requests that memorial tributes take the form of contributions in Mrs. Reves’ name to the Hospice House, 9803 Sharrott Road, Poland, OH 44514.

Michael F. Ricciardi, 65

BOARDMAN – Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Monday at the Wasko Funeral Home and at 10 a.m. at St. Lucy Roman Catholic Church in Campbell for Michael F. Ricciardi, 65, who passed away Tuesday evening at St. Elizabeth Health Center.

Mike was born Sept. 30, 1943 in Toro Campobasso, Italy, the son of Santuccio and Mariantonia Rossodivita Ricciardi and came to Campbell when he was 14.

He was a 1963 graduate of Campbell Memorial High School and went on to serve his country in the U.S. Army from 1965 to 1971. After coming home, Mike was employed by Cold Metal Products.

He was a member of the church and was the past president of the Men’s Society.

His first wife, the former Barbara Smoliga, whom he married June 29, 1968, passed away July 25, 1991. His second wife, the former Mary Jane DeMico, whom he married on Sept. 25, 1994, passed away on May 3, 2005.

Mike leaves to cherish his memory his daughter and son-in-law, Rebecca and Richard Lewis of Medina; three brothers, Tony (Josephine), Nick (Lena) and Andy (Rose) Ricciardi, all of Campbell; a sister, Lucy (George) Bedenick of Twinsburg; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers, Mario and Alfredo Ricciardi.

The Ricciardi family has entrusted their loved one to the care of the Wasko Funeral Home and will receive friends Sunday from 4 to 7 p.m., with a 3:45 p.m. prayer service.

Andrew J. Rossetti, 91

“Together Again”

YOUNGSTOWN – A Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, June 6, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Anthony of Padua Church for Andrew J. Rossetti, 91, who died Thursday at his residence.

Andrew was born June 30, 1917 in Youngstown, the son of Patsy and Eleanor Ripoli Rossetti.

“Pimer,” as Andrew was known, retired from General Fireproofing as an assembler for over 30 years.

Andrew was a veteran of European Theatre during World Was II, receiving a Purple Heart.

Pimer loved gardening, was an avid Cleveland Browns and Indians fan, as well as keeping up with sports statistics.

He is survived by two sons, Joseph (Anna) of Canfield and Andrew (Carol) of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; five loving grandchildren; and 10 loving great-grandchildren.

Andrew was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Josephine C. Pasquale, whom he married Oct. 25, 1941, and died April 7, 1999. Also preceding him was a sister, Eleanor Rossetti and a brother, Frank Rossetti.

Family and friends may call at the Schiavone Funeral Home on Saturday from 9 to 10 a.m.

Jill M. Scala, 47

FAIRBANKS, ALASKA – Jill M. Scala, 47, of North Pole, Alaska, formerly of Niles, died Tuesday, May 26, 2009, at Fairbanks Memorial Hospital.

Jill was born Oct. 4, 1961 in Warren, the daughter of the late James R. Scala and Sally S. Becker Scala.

She is survived by her sister, Lori Scala Novak (Joseph) and nephews, Michael and Matthew Novak of Ostander, Ohio.

Jill was a 1980 graduate of Niles McKinley High School.

A private memorial service will be planned at a later date.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Holloway-Williams Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Niles.

Maureen Hart Wood, 75

DAVIDSON, N.C. – Maureen Hart Wood, 75, formerly of Hudson, died Tuesday, June 2, 2009, at the Genesis Nursing Home.

She was born on Jan. 30, 1934 in Youngstown to the late James and Mildred Hart.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James David Wood, a Korean War veteran and native of Pittsburgh.

She is survived by her son, Paul Wood and wife Kimberly of Hudson; daughter, Colleen Wood of Quincy, Mass.; son, Patrick Wood and wife Karen of Davidson; brother, John Hart; sisters, Patricia Whiteacre and Kathleen Hudak; and her beloved grandchildren, Tyler, Erin, Travis, Marieke and Courtney.

A memorial service for family and friends will be held in North Carolina at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Big Brothers Big Sisters, 230 N. 13th St., Philadelphia, PA 19107-1538 or the Hudson Athletic Booster Club of Hudson, Ohio.
