Donna Cover, 68

BOARDMAN – Funeral services will be held at noon on Friday, June 19, at the Rossi Brothers & Lellio Funeral Home in Boardman for Donna Cover, 68, who passed away early morning Tuesday, June 16.

Donna was born Dec. 22, 1940 in Boardman, the daughter of Donald and Esther (Chubb) Cover.

She was a 1948 graduate of Boardman High School and was a secretary for Trust Mark Insurance.

Donna was a member of the Poland Free Methodist Church.

She will always be remembered by her two sons, Mark Aeppli of Mt. Pleasant, S.C. and John Aeppli of Youngstown; two grandchildren, Amanda and Jason Aeppli; a brother, David (Darla) Cover of Michigan; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Friends may call from 10 a.m. until time of services on Friday, June 19, at the Rossi Brothers & Lellio Funeral Home, 4442 South Ave. in Boardman. A private interment will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery.

Hannah G. Davidson, 99

BOARDMAN – Services will be held Thursday at 5 p.m. at the Davis Funeral Home in Boardman for Hannah G. Davidson, 99, who passed away Monday morning at Shepherd of the Valley in Boardman.

Mrs. Davidson was born July 21, 1909 in Youngstown, a daughter of John and Mary Ann Williams Grainger.

She had retired in 1976 as a bookkeeper for local banks.

She was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church, Trias-Miriam Chapter OES No. 523, Bethlehem Shrine No. 9, Thirty Second Club, Friends of the Boardman Library, Social Order of Beaucent No. 33, Glyn Dur Welsh Club, Calon Welsh and St. David’s Society.

Friends may call one hour prior (4 to 5 p.m.) to the service at the funeral home.

Dolores C. DeLorenzo, 87

YOUNGSTOWN - A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday at 10 a.m. at St. Christine Church for Dolores C. DeLorenzo, 87, who passed away Saturday at St. Elizabeth Boardman Health Center.

Dolores was born May 15, 1922 in Youngstown, the daughter of James and Lucille DiGregorio DeCiero.

Dolores graduated from South High School.

She sold antiques at the Now and Then Shoppe. Prior to selling antiques, Dolores owned and operated Alta Moda Women's Boutique.

Dolores was a member of St. Christine Church.

Her husband, George “Lawrence” DeLorenzo, whom she married Feb. 26, 1944, passed away Aug. 5, 2002.

Dolores leaves two sons, Ron (Karen) DeLorenzo of Colorado and Jerry (Phyllis) DeLorenzo of Boardman; a brother, Ray DeCiero of Youngstown; and three grandchildren, Dana Rose, Jeremy and Jake.

Besides her parents and husband, Dolores was preceded in death by a sister, Rena DeCiero and a brother, Albert DeCiero.

The family will be receiving friends Thursday from 9 to 10 a.m. at the church.

Jerre John Hentosh, 35

CORTLAND – Jerre John Hentosh, 35, died, Saturday, June 13, 2009, at Metro Health Medical Center in Cleveland, of complications from injuries sustained in a swimming accident.

He was born Sept. 9, 1973 in Warren, a son of Jerre J. and Donah Elaine (Guesman) Hentosh.

Jerre was a 1991 graduate of Lakeview High School.

As a general contractor, he owned and operated Hentosh Builders and was a member of the Home Builders Association.

He enjoyed watching the Cleveland Browns and UFC. Jerre also enjoyed snowmobiling, working out, traveling, cooking, grilling and watching movies, however, he was most happy when he was spending his time with his family.

Jerre loved life and enjoyed helping people. His spirit will live on through his selfless act of organ donation. He will be deeply missed by all those who had the privilege of knowing him.

He is survived by his wife, Shannon (Morgan) Hentosh, whom he married Sept. 25, 1999; parents, Jerre and Donah Hentosh of Bazetta, two daughters, Ashley and Taylor, a son, Daniel, all of Cortland; a sister, Tina Hentosh of Bazetta; and two brothers, Mike (Lorra) Hentosh of Bazetta and Tony Hentosh of Kent.

Services will be held at the Carl W. Hall Funeral Home on Saturday, June 20, 2009, at 11 a.m., with the Rev. John A. Temple, officiating.

Friends may call from 3 to 7 p.m. Friday, June 19, 2009, at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service on Saturday.

Interment will be at Dugan Cemetery in Fowler.

Phyllis M. Hinkle, 75

HUBBARD – Phyllis M. Hinkle, 75, died Monday morning, June 15, 2009, at Humility House.

She was born May 30, 1934 in Guardian, W.Va., a daughter of John and Lula Hall Carter and lived in Hubbard since 1955.

Mrs. Hinkle was a registered nurse and worked at the Youngstown Osteopathic Hospital for 35 years, retiring in 1998. She was a member of the New Life Christian Fellowship, the Church Women’s Group and Youngstown Nurses Association. Phyllis enjoyed reading, camping, cooking, and spending time with her family.

Her husband, William J. Hinkle, whom she married Sept. 24, 1955, dies Nov. 15, 1998.

She leaves two sons, W. Bruce (Karen) Hinkle and John David Hinkle, both of Hubbard; two daughters, Pam (John) Logan and Sheila (Steward) Murphy, both of Hubbard; 14 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral service will be held Friday at 10 a.m. at the Kelley-Robb Funeral Home.

Family and friends may call on Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, at noon at Hall Cemetery in Guardian, W.Va.

Paul R. Holisky, 74

McDONALD – Paul R. Holisky, 74, of 2260 Salt Springs Road, formerly of Leetonia, died Monday morning at his home.

Mr. Holisky was born March 26, 1935 in Salem, a son of the late John and Anna Kozar Holisky and had lived in McDonald since moving from Leetonia in August of 2000.

Paul had served in the U.S. Army. He was a member of the Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in McDonald.

He is survived by his wife, the former Bernice J. Baker, whom he married June 8, 1957; a daughter, Pamela Marie (Lewis) Skruck of McDonald; a son, Paul D. (Melissa) Holisky of Girard; two sisters, Rose Marie Carlisle of Salem and Mary Lou (Wayne) Thurston of Columbiana; three grandchildren, Wyatt Skruck, Paige Holisky and Wesley Skruck; and two stepgrandchildren, Austin and Bradley Long.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Dorothy Holisky and a granddaughter, Ariann Holisky.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30 a.m. Friday at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Leetonia, with the Father Thomas Eisweirth officiating. Burial will follow at the Mount Calvary Cemetery, where the Salem VFW/Amvets will accord military honors.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Woods-Rettig Funeral Home, Leetonia, where a wake service will be held at 4:45 p.m. Thursday.

Stanley R. Hribar, 69

GIRARD – Stanley R. Hribar, 69, died Sunday, June 14, 2009, at the Cleveland Clinic.

He was born July 5, 1939 in Warren, the son of Stanley and Frances Steber Hribar.

He was a 1958 graduate of Girard High School and was employed in security at LTV Steel for 31 years before retiring in 1994.

He was a member of the Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church in Niles and the S.N.P.J. Lodge 643 in Girard. He enjoyed NASCAR, watching his grandchildren play sports and was an avid sports fan. He was a U.S. Army veteran.

Stanley, who thought family was everything, will be deeply missed by his wife, Mary Lou Granata Hribar, whom he married June 22, 1963; a son, Robert Hribar and his wife, Yuchong of Spingfield, Va.; a daughter, Susan Brindley and her husband, Patrick of Howland; a sister, Barbara Popovich and her husband, John of Boardman; and three grandchildren, Christina, Sarah and Grant.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Joseph Rossi and Sons Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Niles, where the Mt. Carmel Bereavement Ministry will conduct prayers at 7:30 p.m.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9:30 a.m. Friday at the Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church in Niles, with Fr. Larry Frient officiating, preceded by a 9 a.m. prayer service at the funeral home.

Burial will be at Niles City Cemetery, where Stanley will be honored for his military service by the Trumbull County American Legion Honor Guard.

Richard A. LaPaze, 57

MARSHALL, TEXAS – Richard A. LaPaze, 57, a loving husband to Debra L. LaPaze, passed onto glory on June 6, 2009 in Marshall.

He was the son of Paul T. and Dora (Montanaro) LaPaze.

Richard leaves behind his loving wife and stepson, Shaun Kish; three sisters, Paula (Don) Ficke, Alice (Robert) Baker and Mary Beth (Scott) Grossen; a nephew; and two nieces.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Thomas R. LaPaze.

In memory of Richard, family and friends will meet at Miller Marine, 16889 Mahoning Ave. in Lake Milton on Thursday, June 18, at noon.


Amelia “Molly” Macchio, 88

MOUNT VERNON – Amelia “Molly” Macchio, 88, died on June 14, 2009 at the Ohio Eastern Star Home.

She was born on Jan. 23, 1921 in Matera, Italy, to the late Joseph and Maria (Gorgogliano) Calavoia.

Molly was retired from Commercial Shearing Inc.

She is survived by her care taker and nephew, Joseph (Krys) Mortellaro of Mount Vernon; great-nephew, Brian (Janine) Mortellaro of Granville; and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard Macchio in 1993 and a sister, Victoria Mortellaro in 2004.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Friday, June 19, at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church with the Rev. Father Mark J. Hammond as celebrant.

Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the church.

Graveside services will be held on Friday at 2 p.m. at Tod Homestead Cemetery in Youngstown with the Rev. Father John Keehner officiating.

Michael Clayton McGaughey, 51

POLAND – Michael Clayton McGaughey, 51, died unexpectedly on Sunday, June 14, 2009 in Huntington, Pa.

Born Dec. 10, 1957 in Sewickley, Pa, the son of Fred and Sylvia Capozzoli McGaughey of Bell Acres.

He was currently employed as a sales manager for National Shelter Products of Hudson.

Surviving in addition to his parents is his wife, Chris Reese McGaughey; two daughters, Jessica Ashley McGaughey of University of South Carolina Upstate and Sara Allison McGaughey of Otterbein College in Westerville; a brother, Stephen McGaughey and his wife, Michaelene of Economy, Pa.; a sister, Kathy Ferguson and her husband, Richard of Dublin; two nieces, Alex Ferguson of Dublin and Kristy McGaughey of Economy; two nephews, Steve McGaughey of Ambridge, Pa. and Jeff McGaughey of Economy; numerous brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; nieces and nephews; and his mother-in-law, Doris Reese of Euclid.

Preceding him in death was his maternal grandparents, Queenie and Helen Capozzoli and paternal grandparents, Fred and Romaine McGaughey.

Friends will be received Thursday from 2 to 8 p.m. at the John Syka Funeral Home Inc., 833 Kennedy Dr. in Ambridge, where a service will be conducted Friday at 11 a.m.

Ann M. Nackino

JACKSONVILLE, FLA. – Ann M. Nackino peacefully left us on June 15, 2009, and went to join her beloved husband of 54 years, Paul.

She was born Nov. 30, 1920 to Angeline and Ottoviano Naples in Youngstown.

Married in 1941, Ann and Paul later settled in the west. After Paul passed in 1995, Ann moved to Florida to be with her children, son, Paul (Ann); daughter, Bonnie (Doug); son, Marc; and granddaughter, Chelsea.

A faithful member of St. Mathews Catholic Church, Ann shared her lovely voice in the choir, and her caring nature with everyone she met.

Ann’s life was one of love, faith, friendship, and wonderful story experiences. She was a “One of a Kind Classy Lady” and will be heartfelt missed by her extended family and many loving friends.

Visitation is Friday, June 19, from 6 to 8 p.m.

Father Luke of St. Mathews will conduct the memorial service, Saturday, June 20, at 11 a.m. All services will be at the Hardage-Giddens Town and Country Funeral Home, 7242 Normandy Blvd., Jacksonville, FL 32205.

Pearl Nestor, 90

NILES - Pearl Nestor, 90, of Grace Woods Village and formerly of Cranbrook Drive in Youngstown, passed away early Tuesday morning, June 16, 2009, at her home.

Pearl was born Dec. 17, 1918 in North Jackson, a daughter of the late Nicholas and Catherine Bodnar Harrison.

She was a graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School, and a lifelong area resident.

She was a homemaker, who also worked at the Ravenna Arsenal during World War II and at the General Electric Mazda Lamp Plant for a brief time.

Mrs. Nestor was a member of St. Anne Ukrainian Catholic Church in Austintown and in her younger years, was active in the parish bingo project, pyrohy project, and annual parish festival.

Pearl leaves her son and daughter-in-law, A. Thomas and Linda Nestor of Maumee; her grandchildren, Wendy (Kevin) Kosmak and Colleen Nestor; and her great-grandchildren, Lindsay and Drew Kosmak, all of Chicago; and her sister, Mary Iwanicki of Visalia, Calif.

Her husband, Andrew Nestor, whom she married in 1947, passed away July 2, 1985. Five brothers, Michael, Peter, John, William and Paul Harrison and three sisters, Helen Corbett, Pauline Wheeler and Catherine Victor, are also deceased.

Family and friends may call today, June 17, 2009 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Kinnick Funeral Home, 477 N. Meridian Road in Youngstown.

Funeral services will begin at 9:15 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home and continue at 10 a.m. at St. Anne Ukrainian Catholic Church.

Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery.

Richard Joseph Santore, 66

POLAND – There will be a funeral service held on Friday, June 19, 2009, at noon at the Evangel Baptist Church, 5248 Southern Blvd. in Boardman, with the Rev. Randy Brunko officiating for Richard Joseph Santore, 66, who passed away on Monday, June 15, 2009, from Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP) with his loving family by his side.

Richard will always be remembered and loved by his family and friends.

He was born May 14, 1943 in Youngstown, the son of Joseph and Catherine (Knoll) Santore.

Richard was employed with Wean United as a machinist and upon their closing, he then was employed as a commercial and residential painter, over the road truck driver, and owned his own Landscaping Company.

He attended the Evangel Baptist Church with his wife, Nanci, and was a member of the Chilton Association.

Richard is a U.S. Navy veteran of the Vietnam War and was stationed overseas, where he earned the rank of BMSN (E-5).

He truly enjoyed bowling and fishing at Lake Erie and Mosquito, but his true passion was camping and the outdoors. Richard was a handyman and played on an adult traveling baseball team.

He leaves behind to hold on to his memories, his loving wife, the former Nanci Hornbeck, whom he married Sept. 20, 1986; a stepson, Daryl Egolf (Elizabeth Corbett) of Florida; a granddaughter, Carissa Whitehouse of Poland; a sister, Patricia Miller (Frank Babich) of Austintown; two nieces, Theresa (Jim) Dodd and Rebecca (Tim) Lintner; a nephew, Frank (Lisa) Macciomei; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Anna Marie Macciomei.

Friends may call on Thursday, June 18, 2009, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Rossi & Santucci Funeral Home, 4700 Market St. in Boardman and on Friday, June 19, 2009, from 11 a.m. to 11:50 a.m. at the Evangel Baptist Church in Boardman.

Burial will take place at Lake Park Cemetery with full military honors provided by the Trumbull County American Legion.

Frank R. Sepesy, 84

POLAND – Services will be on Friday at 10:30 a.m. at the Clemente Funeral Home and at 11 a.m. at the St. Nicholas Church, both in Struthers, for Frank R. Sepesy, 84, who passed away Monday afternoon after a six week illness.

Frank was born on Aug. 29, 1924 in Youngstown, a son of Sandor and Anna Petrik Sepesy.

He graduated from Wilson High School in 1943. He served in the Navy during World War II and Korea as a 2nd Class cook. He was a survivor of the aircraft carrier, USS Franklin, that was bombed outside of Tokyo. That bombing was the most destructive attack on a capital ship during the war. Upon returning home, he worked at the Youngstown Sheet & Tube Co. in the seamless mill for five years and the rest of the 40 years in the machine shop before retiring in 1977. Also at the same time, he was a school bus driver for the St. Nicholas School and the Struthers School System for 50 years.

Frank was a member of the St. Nicholas Church and was also a member of the church’s Holy Name Society, where he was known as the “egg man” because he prepared the egg’s at the Sunday breakfast. He was also a volunteer at the church’s yearly festival.

He was a member of the Salem Jubilee Barber Shop Chorus. He was a member of the Amvets Post 44 in Youngstown and he volunteered at the Veterans Booth at the Canfield Fair every year. He also purchased a brick for the War Memorial in Struthers.

Frank was a part of the group of retired mill workers that went to the What's Cookin Restaurant on Wednesday. He was a avid bowler and loved to sing, dance, and play cards. He also enjoyed baking pies and hotcakes.

Frank married the former Catherine M. Grewe on Sept. 12, 1953, and she passed away on Sept. 5, 1992.

He is survived by two daughters, Ann (Joe) Rouzzo of Lowellville and Fran (Ralph) White of Charlotte, N.C.; and three brothers, Steve Sepesy of Youngstown, Alexander Sepesy of Struthers and Richard Sepesy of Maryland; also five grandchildren, Nicole McMaster, Dustin McMaster, Candace (Tim) Cauthen, Marie (Jeff) Howard and Doug (Rachel) White; and two great-grandchildren, Jacob and Lilly.

Frank was preceded in death by his parents; wife; and one son, John Sepesy.

Friends may call on Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Clemente Funeral Home in Struthers.

Jean L. Skerlec, 65

OHIOVILLE, PA. – Jean L. Skerlec, 65, of Fairlane Drive, died at home 11:42 a.m. Monday, June 15, 2009, following a lengthy illness.

Born in Wilkinsburg, Pa. on Sept. 17, 1943, a daughter of the late William and Marion Lacy and lived in this area most of her life.

A graduate of Wilkinsburg High School in Pittsburgh, she was a homemaker, wife and mother. She was a member of the American Motor Coach Association, Bounders United and Bounders America, and she enjoyed the friendship of her card club. She also enjoyed camping, traveling and ice skating, which she performed regionally at one time.

She is survived by her husband, Donald V. Skerlec, whom she married April 3, 1964. The couple met while ice skating in Pittsburgh. Also surviving are two daughters, Donna Arcenio of Salem and Debbie Caylor and her husband, Bill of Salem; two sons, Jeff Skerlec, at home, and Dave Skerlec and his wife, Jenny of Calcutta; and four grandchildren, Ann “Katy” Skerlec, Cassandra Arcenio, Austin Caylor and Quinton Caylor. Also surviving is an uncle, John Paul “Jack” Lacy of Baytown, Texas.

The Rev. David D. Byers of the Vanport Presbyterian Church will conduct a funeral service at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Dawson Funeral Home, where friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday and one hour prior to services on Saturday.

Following the service, family and friends will gather for fellowship at the Dawson Family Center.

Burial will be at Columbiana County Memorial Park

James Michael Smith, 39

TUCSON, ARIZ. – James Michael Smith, formerly of Youngstown, passed away on June 15, 2009. He was 39 years old.

He is survived by his wife and best friend, Alicia and their four boys, Zachary (18), Luke (17), Matt (13) and Brennen (10). He also leaves his parents, Margaret and Jack Smith; his brother, Robert (Patty) Smith; and sister, Mary (Tony) Daniels.

Lois Naomi Smith, 88

POLAND – Lois Naomi Smith, 88, died June 15, 2009 at St. Elizabeth Boardman Health Center.

Mrs. Smith was born March 2, 1921 in Struthers, a daughter of Charles and Leota McClain Jackson.

She attended Struthers High School. Mrs. Smith previously worked for Stambaugh’s, Strouss, and she retired from GTE Automatic Electric as a bookkeeper with over 15 years of service. During World War II, she also worked at General Fireproofing building warplanes.

She was a member of the Poland United Methodist Church, where she belonged to the Women’s Society. She was also a member of the Circle 8 Dance Club. Mrs. Smith enjoyed needlepoint and crocheting.

Her husband of 67 years, Donald F. Smith, whom she married Dec. 30, 1939, died Jan. 6, 2006.

She leaves her son, Gregory Smith of Poland and two grandchildren, Brittany and Christopher Smith, both of Columbus.

Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, Charles E. Jackson and her sister, Ruth Elizabeth Jackson.

Services will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at the Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home in Poland, where family and friends will be received one hour prior to the service.

Interment will be at Poland Riverside Cemetery.
