Carol J. Bacic, 74
STRUTHERS Services will be on Friday at 10:30 a.m. at the Clemente Funeral Home and at 11 a.m. at St. Nicholas Church, both in Struthers, for Carol J. Bacic, 74, who passed away Monday evening at Hospice House.
Carol was born June 27, 1934 in Youngstown, a daughter of George and Bertha Ivanisevich. She lived in the area her whole life and was a homemaker.
She was a member of St. Nicholas Church and a graduate of Struthers High School in 1952. She liked to play bingo, enjoyed reading, and spending time with her family.
Carol married Richard J. Bacic on April 23, 1955, and he passed away on Dec. 12, 1998.
She leaves two sons, Michael R. (Terri) Bacic of Cary, N.C. and Mark A. (Denise) Bacic of Greensboro, N.C.; one brother, Emrick Vance of Granada Hills, Calif.; and one granddaughter, Jenna Bacic.
Carol was preceded in death by her parents and husband.

Judith Blakely, 65
YOUNGSTOWN There will be a memorial service on Saturday, June 27, 2009, at 10:30 a.m. at the First Unitarian Universalist Church in Youngstown for Judith Blakely, 65, who passed away Sunday morning, June 21, at Hospice of the Valley after fighting a short illness.
Judith was born May 5, 1944 in Honolulu, the daughter of Seian and Haruko Uyehara.
She was a graduate of Kaimuki High School and a U.S. Army veteran.
Judith met James Blakely while both were serving in the military and married him on May 11, 1968. Together they celebrated their 41st wedding anniversary last May.
Judy was employed at Sniderman Bros., working as a bookkeeper for 21 years.
Mrs. Blakely is survived by her husband, James; son, Daniel; and her brother, Paul Uyehara.
Judy was a kind, spiritual person without a mean bone in her body, who was loved and respected by everyone who knew her. She will be greatly missed.
At her request, she will be cremated and her ashes will be returned to the ocean near her childhood home in Hawaii.
Roy J. Fitzpatrick Jr. 56
AUSTINTOWN Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Christine Catholic Church in Youngstown for Roy J. Fitzpatrick, 56, who died Monday morning at St. Elizabeth Health Center in Youngstown.
He was born March 10, 1953 in Youngstown, a son of Roy J. and Mary Jo (Davin) Fitzpatrick Sr., and he resided in this area all of his life.
He was a 1971 graduate of Canfield High School. He worked as a truck driver for Republic, formerly Allied Waste, where he had been for 32 years.
He enjoyed being near the water and outings on his boat. He also enjoyed golfing, gardening, and yard work.
He was a member of the Lake Milton Boating Club and the Fraternal Order of Eagles No. 3298 in Austintown, where he was named Eagle Of The Year in 2000.
Roy was a kind and loving man and he will be sadly missed by all those who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his wife, the former Sheree L. Sweetapple, whom he married Aug. 25, 1973. He also leaves behind his mother, Mary Jo of Boardman; two children, Scott (Heather) Fitzpatrick of Uniontown, Pa. and Kimberly (Jeff) Naughton of Poland; five grandchildren; Mikaela, Scott Jr., Mariah and Sammy Fitzpatrick and Lilly Naughton; two brothers, Robert (Debby) Fitzpatrick of Boardman and Timothy (Diane) Fitzpatrick of Jupiter, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father.

He was an entertainment promoter. He loved music and playing the piano, especially jazz. Harry was a veteran of the Army.

Marvin L. Hainsey, 79
TITUSVILLE, FLA A memorial Mass will be held Friday June 26, 2009, at 7 p.m. at St. Joseph the Provider Church, 633 Porter Ave. in Campbell, with the Rev. Michael Swierz officiating, for Marvin L. Hainsey, 79, who passed away June 6, 2009 in Titusville.
Marv was born June 23, 1929, the son of Benjamin and Bertha Condon Hainsey.
He grew up in the Clearfield, Pa. area. He served his country as a jet aircraft mechanic in the U.S. Air Force in the early 1950s.
He worked for over 30 years in the aerospace industry for Rockwell International in Ohio and in Florida at the Kennedy Space Center, retiring in 1986.
He will be greatly missed by his wife of 57 years, Pat; his children, Kathy (Joe) Lucci of Poland, Mike (Brenda) Hainsey of Columbus, Miss., Dennis (Carol) Hainsey of Corrales, N.M. and Don (Patti) Hainsey of Titusville; grandchildren, Christina, Joe and Michael Lucci, Ben Hainsey, Matt Hainsey and Sara Hainsey.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother; a sister; and a grandson, Chris Hainsey.
Marv loved to spend time with his family, cooking, hunting, fishing, carpentry and home repair projects. His generous spirit and outgoing personality will be remembered and missed by all who knew him.

Mary B. Haydu, 82
YOUNGSTOWN - Mary B. Haydu, 82, of the citys west side, passed away early Tuesday morning, June 23, 2009, at St. Elizabeth Health Center.
Mary was born Dec. 8, 1926 in Youngstown, a daughter of the late Matthew and Anna Bukovina Baran, and was a lifelong area resident.
She was a 1945 graduate of East High School, was a homemaker, and also worked for 60 years for the Monday Musical Club at Stambaugh Auditorium, where she was a secretary and the clubs first office manager.
Mary was a member of St. George Byzantine Catholic Church. She was also a member of the East High School Class Reunion Committee Association.
Mrs. Haydu leaves her beloved husband, William J. Haydu, whom she married July 28, 1951; three sons, William J. Haydu Jr. (wife Audrey) of Wilmingon, N.C., Richard Haydu of Negley, and James (wife Lori) Haydu of Columbus; and a grandson, Michael Haydu.
Mary will be truly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Three brothers, Stephen, Frank, and Matthew Baran, and a sister, Helen Baran, are deceased. Additionally, two brothers and a sister passed away in Czechoslovakia.

Minnie Jackson, 91
YOUNGSTOWN Services will be Friday at noon at the Mt. Zion Baptist Church for Mrs. Minnie Jackson, 91, who entered eternal life Thursday, June 18, 2009, at St. Joseph Hospital in Warren.
Mrs. Jackson was born May 29, 1918 in Oxford, Ala., a daughter of Eli Whitney and Cora Curry Ball, coming to this area many years ago.
She had worked in housekeeping and was a homemaker. She was a member of the Mt. Zion Baptist Church, its senior choir, former president and member of its General Mission Ministry, a Sunday school teacher, member of the Mothers Board, Prayer Band, Ombudsmen for The Area Agency on Aging; and a member of the NAACP. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, bowling and gardening, but her passion was quilting and the joy of her grandchildren.
Her husband, Ralph, whom she married in 1940, passed away Dec. 29, 1983.
She leaves to cherish her beloved memory, two children, Jacqueline Adair of Youngstown and Randy (Sharon) Jackson of Lansing, Mich.; 13 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and a host of family, church family and friends who will sincerely miss her.
Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three children, Larry Jackson, Carol Ashby and Loretta Simmons; a sister, Annie L. Funderburg and a brother, Frank Ball.

James E. Bugsy Lilley, 58
GIRARD James E. Bugsy Lilley 58, passed away Monday, June 22, 2009, at the Hospice House.
James was born July 17, 1950 to the late Bruce and Jean Burson Lilley.
He worked 10 years as a cabinet maker for Kraftmaid. He enjoyed motorcycles and woodworking.
He is survived by his children, Heather (Herb) Kay of Liberty Township and Erik Lilley of Austintown; brothers, Denny of Henderson, Nev. and Richard Lilley of Niles; and three granchildren, Megan, Victoria and Corey.
Visitaion will be held on Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Blackstone Funeral Home.
Ernest Dewey Moreland, 88
COLUMBIANA Services will be held Saturday at 11:30 a.m. at the Davis Funeral Home for Ernest Dewey Moreland, 88, who died Saturday. He was a former volunteer fireman and zoning commissioner for Boardman Township and manager of the landmark Tower Motel there.
While not a teacher by trade, Deweys life was a lesson book on the values of integrity and commitment, and the full worth of friendship, laughter and love.
Born on Nov. 22, 1920, he was a native of Boardman and graduated from South High School, January Class of 1940. He married Rosanne Barnes in 1947, and together they built a life devoted to family and community.
A veteran of World War II and member of the American Legion, Dewey was a successful businessman who placed as much importance on friendships as he did the bottom line. As a top salesman for Red Book Funeral Home Directory, he traveled the country with Rosanne, always returning with tales of new friends they made and new experiences they shared. Even after retirement at the age of 80, Dewey continued to work, shuttling cars for J&R Autos. He relished the discovery and adventure of the job, the chance to meet interesting people and share life stories at every turn.
At home, Dewey enjoyed presiding over pool side barbecues, where his wit and humor were always on the front burner, and loved riding his motorcycle down country roads.
An avid outdoorsman and deer hunter, Dewey was a member of Camp IF, in the mountains of Pennsylvania, and always returned from a hunting trip, if not with a 10-point buck, with stories that delighted and captivated his family and friends.
Dewey was active in community work and charities through membership in Al Koran Shriners and as a Freemason of Western Star Lodge No. 21, the Grand Royal and Select Masons of Ohio, the Grand Chapter of Royal Arch Masons, Youngstown Chapter 93, and Knights Templar St. Johns Commandery No. 20.
He was a member of St. Johns Episcopal Church in Youngstown, and attended church services at Glen Ellen Senior Living.
Dewey was a welcoming fixture every month at fireman breakfasts and was a former member of the YMCA, where he participated in a water aerobics group.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Emma Jane Byrnes, and stepfathers Paul Moreland and Victor Byrnes.
He leaves his wife, Rosanne Barnes Moreland; daughter, Pamela Moreland of Willard; sister, Barbara Pellin of Charlotte, N.C.; goddaughter, Pat Cooper; and nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, of Charlotte, Spokane, Wash., and Youngstown.

FAIRFIELD There will be a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 27, at the Sacred Heart Church for Joseph J. Phillips Jr., 68, who passed away Saturday, June 22, at his residence.
Mr. Phillips was born May 13, 1941 in Columbus, a son of Joseph J. and Josephine E. Molli Phillips Sr.
He received his bachelors degree from Youngstown State University in 1964 and his masters degree in 1973 from Miami of Ohio University. He worked for many newspaper publications in Youngstown, Kokomo, Ind., Indianapolis, Dayton, and Cincinnati.
Joe was an English teacher for the Princeton City Schools for 28 years, retiring in 1999.
Joe was active in amateur radio since 1959 and was currently the Ohio Section Manager for amateur radio since 1998. He also had held many other positions in the Ohio section and was a speaker and supporter of many amateur radio activities. Joe wrote a column on amateur radio for several newspapers including the Cincinnati Enquirer for two years and several magazine publications. He was an avid photographer.
Joe was active in community theater and was a director for the Princeton Theater Productions. He was a member of the Sacred Heart Church in Fairfield.
Besides his wife, the former Donna M. Fox, whom he married Aug. 20, 1966 in Youngstown, he leaves two daughters, Martha (Graham) Corneck of Westport, Conn. and Mary Alice Phillips of Washington, D.C.; a son, Joseph J. (Laura) Phillips III of Mesa, Ariz.; three grandchildren, Colin, Sarah and Brendan Corneck of Westport; two brothers, Louis B. Phillips of San Antonio, and Michael M. Phillips of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.; a sister, Cristine Phillips of Carlsbad, Calif.; and many nieces.

Rose was born July 21, 1943 in West Virginia, the daughter of Charles Long and Helen May Crouser.
She was employed with Home Care Network. Rose loved her dog, Idora and her cat, Wheezer.
Her husband, Daniel A. Pilla, whom she married June 7, 1962, passed away April 7, 2000.

NEW BERLIN, WIS. Anise V. (Pavicic) Prodanovic, born to eternal life with our Lord on June 19, 2009, at the age of 80.
She was the beloved and adored wife of Emil; truly loving mother of Joyce (John) Batson and Brenna (Mark) Benner; caring grandmother of Alana, Sasha and Leah; and great-grandmother of Mikhail.
She was preceded in death by brother, Eli (Nedda) Pavicic.
She is survived by brother, Bert (Lucille); nephews, Brent (Debra) Pavicic and Mark Pavicic; nieces, Denise Harancic, Paula Pavicic and Lynne (Andy) Krispinsky. She is further survived by relatives, Kumovi and friends including close cousins, Geraldine, Sandra, Ronnie and Yvonne.
Anise was born in Campbell and graduated from Campbell Memorial High School, before earning her degree at Ohio University.
Although certified as an elementary school teacher, a piano teacher and later earning her real estate brokers license, Anise took on the role of super mom and she enjoyed every minute of it.
She defined the word homemaker and made caring for her family her full-time job. Besides this, her religious beliefs were paramount in her life. She was sustained by her faith.
Visitation will be at the Vaschak-Kirila Funeral Home, 3100 Canfield Road in Youngstown on Thursday, June 25, from 5 to 8 p.m.
Funeral service will be Friday, June 26, at 10 a.m. at the Holy Trinity Church, 39 Laird Ave. in Youngstown.
Internment will be at Belmont Park Cemetery.

Mary was born July 6, 1930 in Hillsville, Pa., the daughter of the late Domenick and Theresa (Tutino) Luccisano.
Mary took a great deal of pride in caring for her family as a mother and homemaker. She enjoyed cooking, baking, and canning fruits and vegetables from her garden. Above all, she loved and cherished the time she could spend with her four grandchildren. This shared time gave special meaning to her life.
Mary was a warm-hearted, beautiful person, who always put others above herself. Those whose lives she touched will always be blessed by her comforting gentleness, her loving heart, and her compassionate soul. Mary was truly our angel on Earth, now in heaven watching over all of us.
She will be sadly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Mary leaves her husband, Ralph V. Traino, whom she married Oct. 3, 1959; two daughters, Diane (Joseph) Tuchek of Canfield and Linda Mike of Boardman; a son, Ralph S. Traino at home; a sister, Lucy Perry of Boardman; and four grandchildren, Joseph and Nikki Tuchek and Erika and Deanna Mike.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents; a infant daughter, Theresa Traino; two sisters, Carrie Palagano and Rose Saulino; and four brothers, Rocco, Joseph, James and Frank Luccisano.

Joan W. Whiteleather, 77
WARREN Joan W. Whiteleather, 77, died Monday, June 22, 2009, at Forum Health Trumbull Memorial Hospital.
She was born Aug. 3, 1931 in Tamaqua, Pa., the daughter of Edward K. and Thelma (Heister) Wooke, and had lived in Warren since 1942.
A 1949 graduate of Warren G. Harding High School, Mrs. Whiteleather worked for Thomas Steel in the 1950s before working as a secretary for Warren City Schools, retiring in 1992. A kind and gentle soul, she was a talented painter and illustrator. She enjoyed antiques and collectibles, and loved birds and flowers, which she painted from time to time. She also enjoyed her grandchildren and going to lunch with her friends.
Surviving is her husband, R. Donald Whiteleather, whom she married Nov. 12, 1955; her children, Mark D. (Mary Ann) Whiteleather of Boardman and Susan E. (Tom) Watson of Warren; three grandchildren, Michele Whiteleather and Thomas and Patrick Watson; a sister, Lorraine (Gil) Peterson of Roseburg, Ore.; and two brothers, Edward K. (Barbara) Wooke of Cumming, Ga. and Charles F. (Jean) Wooke of Statesboro, Ga.
Her parents preceded her in death.
