Carmel Beggs, 93
LOWELLVILLE Funeral services will be held Saturday at 9:30 a.m. at the Wasko Funeral Home in Campbell and at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph the Provider Church in Campbell, for Carmel Beggs, 93, who passed away Wednesday morning at Hospice House.
Carmel was born Feb. 6, 1916 in Girard, the daughter of Joseph and Antoinette Sabino Colucci and was a lifelong area resident.
Besides being a homemaker, Carmel was a very active member of the church, its Infant Jesus Guild and a weekly pierogi maker. She was a member of St. Elizabeth Church Crochet Club and the Knitting Nannys of Park Vista. Carmel enjoyed all crafts, especially knitting and crocheting.
Her husband, Charles Beggs, whom she married Jan. 15, 1947, passed away on Nov. 11, 1997.
Carmel leaves to cherish her memory, her daughter, Frances George of Las Vegas; one daughter-in-law, Peggy Serrano of Hubbard; four brothers, Pete, Joe and Lawrence Serrano of Italy and Anthony Serrano of Germany; three sisters, Frances Spinella of Mineral Ridge, Anna Ambrogio and Catarina Romeo, both of Italy; six grandchildren, Gina George, Ronald (Joanne) George, Suzanne (Tony) Esposito, Lisa (Ronald) Scarnecchia, Janet (Brian) Segro and Joseph W. Serrano; seven great-grandchildren, Anthony J. Esposito, Jessica Esposito, Avery George, Tanner Segro, Ronnie George, Morgan Segro and Raegan Serrano.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Charles; a son, Joseph P. Serrano; a brother, Frank Colucci; and two sisters, Rosa Alia and Victoria Serrano.
The Beggs family has entrusted their loved one to the care of the Wasko Funeral Home and will receive friends today from 5 to 8 p.m.
Patricia K. Patsy Cambert, 73
AUSTINTOWN - Patricia K. Cambert, 73, passed away Wednesday afternoon, July 15, 2009, at St. Elizabeth Health Center in Youngstown following a courageous five year battle with cancer.
Patricia was born March 17, 1936 in Youngstown, a daughter of the late John and Jane Kopatich Turek, and was a lifelong area resident.
Mrs. Cambert was a graduate of The Rayen School, was a homemaker, and was the co-owner and operator of The Vista Lounge with her husband for 22 years.
Patsy loved cooking, loved her dog, Molly, and thoroughly enjoyed the time she spent with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Cambert leaves her husband of 55 years, Albert Pinky Cambert, whom she married Jan. 14, 1954; her son, John Cambert of Austintown; her daughter, Marie Toni (Jerry) Streb of Austintown; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a brother, John (Vern) Turek of Youngstown; and two sisters, Frances Zeigler of Mineral Ridge and Jean (Jim) Barrows of Florida.
Patsy will be truly missed by all who knew and loved her.
A son, Frank Cambert, and a sister, Vern Getsy, are deceased.
Private funeral services will be held at a later date.

Josephine Caparanis, 87
WARREN A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday July 18, 2009, at 10 a.m. at St. Pius X Church with celebrant Fr. James P. Walker, preceded by a 9:30 a.m. service at the Peter Rossi & Son Memorial Chapel for Helen Josephine Caparanis, 87, who passed away Thursday afternoon at St. Joseph Health Center.
Helen Josephine Caparanis was born Oct. 9, 1921 in Neffs, the daughter of Michael and Josephine Senderak Rzepka. Helen grew up in Wheeling, W.Va., and moved to Warren in 1957 from Steubenville.
Helen was a homemaker.
She was a member of St. Pius X Church, and the church Altar and Rosary Society. She was a member of the 83rd Infantry Division Ladies Auxiliary. She was proud of her contribution to the World War II effort as Rosie the Riveter in Detroit.
She was a member of numerous card clubs and enjoyed playing 500 and Pinochle. She enjoyed crocheting, sewing, cooking, traveling, and spending time with her family.
She married John Caparanis Sr. on Feb. 19, 1944, and he preceded her in death on Dec. 3, 2004.
She is survived by four children, Lt. Col. John T. (Shirley) Caparanis Jr. of Cortland, Laraine (Raymond) DeCristofaro of Brookfield, Robert G. Caparanis of Eastlake and James H. Caparanis of Lordstown; ten grandchildren, Alexandria (Jerry) Crenshaw, Deidre (Tom) Abbitt, Joshua Caparanis, Gina (Jason) Huber, John DeCristofaro and Nicole, Katie, Michael, Lacey and Preston Caparanis; five great-grandchildren; and five sisters, Laura (Ted) Krolikowski of Detroit, Virginia Poloski of Kent, Edna DiLoreti of Wheeling, W.Va., Regina Jean Bracone of Mingo Junction, and Joan (Pete) Betras of Wheeling.
She was preceded in death by her husband; a daughter, Nancy H. Caparanis; two brothers, Emil and Stanley; and three sisters, Mary, Anne and Stella.
Calling hours will be held today, July 17, 2009, from 5 to 8 p.m. and Saturday, July 18, 2009, from 9 to 9:30 a.m. at the Peter Rossi & Son Memorial Chapel.
Burial will be at All Souls Cemetery.

Gus (Deniakis) Dennis, 81
BOARDMAN Private funeral services were held at the Vaschak-Kirila Funeral Home for Gus (Deniakis) Dennis, 81, who passed away Wednesday afternoon.
He was born Sept. 16,1927 in New York City, a son of the late Nicholas Deniakis and Julia Cheh.
Gus was a hair stylist in Columbus prior to moving to Boardman. He worked at General Electric as an inspector and retired from there, he also worked at Caldwell Banker Real Estate as an agent in Boardman. Gus was in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a member of St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church.
Gus will be sadly missed by many including his son, Michael (Dianne) Deniakis of Howland; one brother, Frank Deniakis of Jupiter, Fla.; three granddaughters, Danette Zolna, Jessica Rishel, Shanon Deniakis; and five great-grandchildren.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Dolores Deniakis, whom he married July 1969 and she passed away Jan. 25, 2002 and one son, John Deniakis.
Vincent Owen Howard, 54
YOUNGSTOWN Services will be today, July 17, 2009, at 11 a.m. at the L.E. Black, Phillips & Holden Funeral Home for Mr. Vincent Owen Howard, 54, who departed this life Sunday, July 12, 2009.
Mr. Howard was born Aug. 14, 1954 in Youngstown, a son of Carlton Joseph and Amanda Lee Howard.
He was a 1972 graduate of South High School and earned an Associate Degree in Business Administration from Columbus Day Community College. Recently, he began studying psychology at Youngstown State University. He had been employed by General Fireproofing and Pittsburgh and Lake Erie Railroad. While living in Columbus, Vincent worked for Western Southern Life Insurance Company, volunteered with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Columbus and the Ohio State Attorney Generals Office
He was fond of luxury cars, especially the Jaguar. He enjoyed fine clothes, jewelry and the latest computers. A sports enthusiast, Vincent favored boxing, basketball and football.
He leaves to cherish his beloved memory, his mother, Amanda of Youngstown; two daughters, Takeisha Hall (Donald M. Jr.) Ruff of New York City and Roshaunda Crum of Youngstown; a son, Marlon Crum of Youngstown; a sister, Donna (John Sr.) Woods of Liberty; two brothers, Carl W. (Shirley) Howard of Youngstown and Jeffrey J. (Angela) Howard of Atlanta; fiancé, Vivian Crum; six grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Susan Howard and Kim Howard, both of Youngstown; and a large extended family and numerous friends.
Besides his father, Carlton J., Vincent was preceded in death by his brothers, Bruce Hollywood and Samuel Howard.

Thelma M. Hunter, 86
YOUNGSTOWN Mrs. Thelma M. Hunter, 86, passed away on July 11, 2009, at Hospice House.
Mrs. Hunter was born Nov. 27, 1922 in Camilla, Ga., a daughter of Holice and Georgia Mae Coley Hicks.
She worked for YMCA as a special cook for 10 years. She was a member of St. Andrewes A.M.E. Church.
She enjoyed cooking, sports, music, and loving and caring for her grandchildren.
Mrs. Hunter was married to Mr. Lawyer Hunter, who passed away in 1974.
She leaves a daughter, Mildred Johnson of Youngstown; a brother, Horace Hicks of Atlanta; a sister, Linda Onetameawu of Atlanta; six grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
Her parents; one daughter, Margaret Marrow; three sisters; one brother; and three great-great-grandchildren preceded her in death.
Service will be held Saturday, July 18, 2009, at 10 a.m. at St. Andrewes A.M.E. Church.

John Carl Merlo, 67
MICHIGAN John Carl Merlo, 67, formerly of Niles, went to heaven on July 12, 2009 at 11:20 a.m. at a Michigan hospital after losing his battle with cancer.
He was born to the late Carl and Rose (Sallustio) Merlo on Dec. 19, 1941 in Niles.
John was a 1959 graduate of McKinley High School.
He served in the armed forces and was honorably discharged in 1965. He was known for his love of growing vegetables and gardening.
John in survived by a son; two sisters; a brother, nephews; nieces; and many cousins.
A private memorial will be held for John by invitation only.

Albert C. Sonny Mishata Jr., 64
GIRARD Albert C. Sonny Mishata Jr., 64, died Wednesday July 15, 2009, at Hospice House.
He was born Nov. 4, 1944 in Youngstown, a son of Albert and Mary Shedlock Mishata Sr. and was a lifelong area resident.
Mr. Mishata was a welder for Warren Fabricating for 30 years. Sonny was a member of St. Rose Church in Girard, the American Legion in Girard and the sons of Italy in Youngstown He enjoyed fishing and hunting.
He leaves his wife, the former, Patricia Pazillo, whom he married Jan. 28, 1969; a daughter, Tina Mishata of Warren; three grandchildren; and one great grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Raymond Mishata; two brothers, Mitch and Raymond Mishata; and a sister, Margaret Connotti.
There are no funeral services.

YOUNGSTOWN Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the Highway Tabernacle Church for C. Grace Moorhead, 88, who died early Thursday morning at Assumption Village.
Grace was born Nov. 30, 1920 in Bethesda and was the daughter of the late Wilmot and Nina (Aiken) Murphy.
She had been a school teacher from 1961 to 1983, retiring from Youngstown School System in 1983. Grace was a member of the Highway Tabernacle Church and the Highway Sr. Citizens. She left those around her with the knowledge of the gift of life and life after death. Those who were fortunate to share in the joy of her life, will forever celebrate her memory. Grace was an avid reader and loved music and traveling, she was a graduate of Youngstown State University, where she received her bachelors and masters degree and was a member of the Ohio Retired Teachers Association.
Her greatest pleasures and pride in life revolved around the Lord and her five children and their families. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Her husband, William Moorhead, whom she married in 1947, died Dec. 18, 2003.
She is survived by her children, W. Brent Moose (Carolyn) Moorhead of Youngstown, Marcia (Albert) Sauline of Hubbard, Mark W. (Eileen) Moorhead of Uniontown, John E. Moorhead of Youngstown and Frank C. (Lori) Moorhead of Hartville. Grace also leaves her sister, Nina Jean Snow of Arizona; a brother, Robert Murphy of Sandusky; seven grandchildren, Brent Moorhead, Melissa (Darrell) Shular, Atty. Albert Sauline III, Mark (Brandy) Moorhead, Kelly (Zach) Zimmer, Joshua Moorhead, Stacey Moorhead; and five great-grandchildren, Grace Shular, Emma, Ryan, Joseph and John JP Moorhead.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a sister, Wilma Cunningham; and a brother, Aiken Murphy.

George J. Noren, 80
BOARDMAN A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday at noon at St. Charles Church for George J. Noren, 80, formerly of Campbell. He passed away at Pembrooke Place Wednesday afternoon after a courageous 8-month battle with cancer.
Mr. Noren was born May 16, 1929 in Hastings, Pa., a son of Albert P. and Elizabeth Ann Gallagher.
He was a graduate of Hastings High School, and had worked as a machinist with LTV. After retirement, he worked at Sparkle Market on South Avenue and the Wick Building downtown. He will be missed by his friends at Teenies Tavern.
George who was also known as Putter or Porky enjoyed coin collecting and playing the harmonica and had been a member of the Friday Mens League at Holiday Bowl. He was a member of the church and an usher and greeter.
His wife, the former Mary Perrotta, passed away Jan. 25, 1997.
Surviving him are two daughters, Patricia A. (John) Gordulic of Youngstown and Sandra L. Noren (Stephen Hanula) of Delaware, two brothers, Carl (Eileen) Noren of Palm Bay, Fla. and Harold (Lois) Noren of Rochester, N.Y.; three granddaughters, Brianna, Sydney and Alexis; and his first wife, Dorothy Peg Mingo of Boardman, who was beside him through his illness.
Preceding him in death besides his wife and parents are two sisters, Lois Mae and Florence Noren and two brothers, Albert Jr. and Alfred Noren.
Friends may call Saturday at the church from 11 a.m. noon.

Orville J. Paugh, 100
CANFIELD Services will be held Saturday at noon at the Lane Funeral Home, Canfield Chapel for Orville J. Paugh, 100, who passed away Thursday morning at Meridian Arms Care Center.
Orville was born Nov. 13, 1908 in Danville, Pa., the son of Daniel and Lillian (Lake) Paugh and came to this area in 1927.
He was the owner and operator of Paugh Greenhouses in Canfield from 1945 to 1965 and then was the Superintendent for the Canfield Village Street Department from 1967 until his retirement in 1977.
Orville was a member of the Canfield Christian Church, where he was an elder and a deacon, as well as, serving as chairman of the board.
Orville was a member the Western Star F.& A.M. Masonic Lodge in Youngstown and had been a member for more than 65 years.
His wife, the former Eleanor L. Osborne, whom he married Aug. 12, 1932, passed away May 13, 1998.
Orville leaves two daughters, Janet (Ron) Svetichan of Cape Haze, Fla. and Carol (Ron) Payne of Canfield; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; as well as three great-great-grandchildren.
Besides his parents and wife, Orville was preceded in death by two sisters, Grace Kucharski and Ruth Keller; and two brothers, Charles and Robert Paugh.

Ronald J. (Buddy) Revis, 73
YOUNGSTOWN Ronald J. (Buddy) Revis, 73, passed away Thursday, July 16, 2009, at Pembrooke Place.
He was born Aug. 15, 1935 in Nu Mine, Pa., a son of the late Steve Revis and the late Margaret (Simko) Revis.
Ronald is survived by a daughter, Margaret Ann Coiner of Boardman, a brother, Emery Revis of Warren; caregiver and special friend, Nancy Woolweaver of Poland; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
He was employed at Fitzsimmons Steel for many years and Woodside Receiving Hospital, retiring in 1995. He was also a member of the VFW Post 93 and American Legion Post 472.

CANFIELD There will be a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 18, at Saint Michael Church, celebrated by Father Terrence Hazel for Beatrice L. Bea Rousher, 82, who passed away Wednesday, July 8, at Saint Elizabeth Health Center in Youngstown.
Mrs. Rousher was born Jan. 31, 1927 in Youngstown, the daughter of Joseph James and Edna McGowan Loftus and was a lifelong area resident.
She was a 1945 graduate of Ursuline High School.
Bea had worked as a secretary for Saint Rose Church, Saint Patrick Church, the Immaculate Conception Church and Ursuline High School, retiring in 1982.
She was member of Saint Michael Church, where she served as a Eucharistic Minister.
Bea was also a member of the 1945 Ursuline High School Alumni Group, the Saint Dominic Alumni Group and the Fair Park Card Club and Bugnarese Ladies Club. She was a former member of the Bears Club, Sebring Country Club, Tippecanoe Country Club and Fonderlac Country Club.
Besides her husband, James B. Rousher, whom she married Aug. 25, 1956, she leaves one son, James P. (Debbie) Rousher of Canfield; two daughters, Mary Pat (Dominic) Salomone of Medina and Diane M. Nardy of Columbus; six grandchildren, JJ Rousher, Nicholas Rousher and Jimmy Rousher, all of Canfield, Emily Salomone of Chicago, Anthony Salomone of Medina and Margaret Nardy of Columbus.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, Francis Loftus, Robert Loftus and Patrick Loftus.
Friends may call Saturday from 9 to 10:30 a.m. before the Mass at the church.

YOUNGSTOWN Debra Lorraine Taylor, 53, of 2102 Cherry Hill Ave., died Wednesday, July 15, 2009, at Hospice House in Poland.
Debra was born June 9, 1956 in Youngstown, a daughter of the late William and Mary Frances Barr Taylor.
She had been employed by The Youngstown Vindicator as a dispatcher for four years. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Girard. She enjoyed animals and found pleasure in crafting.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Kathrine Durbin; two brothers, Vonnie Taylor and Charles Sonny Tice; and a sister that died at birth, Nancy Lee Tice.
Survivors include two daughters, Shannon Rae Binion (Jeff) and Danielle Marie Scarnati (Kris), all of Niles; three sisters, Emily Elbon and her husband, Jim of Weathersfield Township and Janet Yaist and Bette Davis, both of Niles; and her brother, William C. Taylor and his wife, Donna of Austintown. She was also a beloved grandmother to five grandchildren, who called her Nanny, Jared, Damion, Jenna, Dylan and Kaylee and her expected granddaughter, Addison.
Funeral services will held Monday, July 20, 2009, at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Ronald Mauer officiating at the Robert P. McDermott Memorial Home, where friends may call for one hour prior to the services.

Ruth Ann Williams, 77
TOLEDO Ruth Ann Williams, 77, passed away on Wednesday, July 15, 2009, at her home surrounded by her family.
The daughter of James and Pauline (Burris) Moody, she was born on Nov. 11, 1931 in McDonald
Ruth attended Westminster College in Pennsylvania and was involved with the Alpha Gamma Delta Sorority. For over 18 years, Ruth was employed by the Washington Local School System, serving as Executive Secretary to the Principal at Jefferson Junior High School. She also taught swimming lessons and worked as a lifeguard at the West Toledo YMCA for many years. Ruth also worked part-time for Gladieux Catering.
Fitness was a big part of Ruths life. She was an excellent swimmer, which was reflected in her competing in the Senior Olympics in the swimming division numerous times. She was also a regular at the Wildwood Athletic Club until just a couple weeks before her death. Ruth enjoyed the sun, water and the beach. She also loved college basketball and was an avid fan of Duke University. Ruth enjoyed traveling, some of her favorite places included Iceland, Alaska, California and Florida. She was a season ticket holder and supporter of the Toledo Symphony Orchestra and the Toledo Opera. She was enriched by her memberships to the Toledo Museum of Art and the Toledo Botanical Garden.
Ruth loved to spend quality time with her grandchildren. She was a dear friend to many. And her many friends and family will miss her beautiful, sharing and caring spirit.
Ruth is survived by her sons, David Williams (Natalie) of Toledo and Daniel Williams (Myra) of Chula Vista, Calif.; daughter, Donalee Unal (Dr. Apo) of Harrisburg, Pa.; grandchildren, Kara Unal and Joshua, Samuel, Christopher and Sara Williams; and sister, Jane Marie Scanlon (John) of Ponte Vedra, Fla.
Visitation will be on Saturday from 2 to 9 p.m. at the Walker Funeral Home, 5155 Sylvania Ave. in Toledo, where the funeral ceremony will take place on Sunday at 2 p.m.
Private interment will be in Bradenton, Fla.
