Erik D. Anderson Sr., 36

WOODBRIDGE, VA. – Erik D. Anderson Sr. was born April 30, 1973 to Herman and Patricia Anderson in Youngstown.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Charles and Mattie Hawkins and Henrietta Rue and his cousin, Keyshara Hawkins.

Erik confessed to Christ at an early age at the Pilgrim Baptist Church in Youngstown.

In 1991, Erik graduated from East High School and enlisted in the U.S. Army.

He married Felisha Tiajuana and to this union two sons were born, Erik D. Jr. and Aaron Malik.

Sergeant First Class Anderson served his country faithfully for over 15 years in various positions and locations including three deployments in support of the Global War on Terrorism, culminating as the G1 Non-commissioned Officer in Charge, at the Military Intelligence Readiness Command in Fort Belvoir, Va.

Erik was united in holy matrimony to Tamara Lenee’ in 2006 and to this union one son was born, Braylen Josiah.

In his spare time, Erik enjoyed spending time with family and friends, sports, and riding his motorcycle. He was a Master Mason and also a member of Kappa Alpha Psi. Erik was an extremely loving husband, devoted father, and a true friend to all he knew.

Erik departed this life on Sept. 26, 2009.

Among those forever cherishing his memory is his wife, Tamara L. Anderson; three sons, Erik D. Anderson Jr., Aaron M. Anderson and Braylen J. Anderson. He is also survived by his mother, Patricia A. Anderson of Youngstown; his father, Herman R. Anderson of Waukegan, Ill.; grandparents, Archie and Irene Rue of Elyria; a sister, Sheaness N. Anderson of Youngstown; a very special aunt, Robinette; three nieces; one nephew; and a host of family and friends.

Friends may call Saturday, Oct. 3, 2009, from 9 to 10 a.m. at the Rising Star Baptist Church, 2943 Wardle Ave. in Youngstown. Funeral services will follow at 10 a.m. at the church.

Betty S. (Guidosh) Bell, 78

HERMITAGE, PA. – There will be services at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 3, 2009, at the Stewart-Kyle Funeral Home for Betty S. (Guidosh) Bell, 78, formerly of Hubbard and Yorktown, Ind., who passed away Wednesday, Sept. 30, 2009, at John XXIII Home.

Betty was born Sept. 1, 1931 in Hubbard, a daughter of John and Elizabeth (Kayati) Guidosh, and was a granddaughter of Hungarian immigrants.

In 1935, at the age of four, Betty was diagnosed with juvenile diabetes and lived a long and productive life.

She was a 1949 graduate of Hubbard High School, and had formerly worked at Westinghouse Electric in Sharon, Pa. from 1949 to 1952. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Hubbard. She was a homemaker and a devoted wife and mother.

Her husband, Clifford J. Bell, whom she married April 19, 1952, died March 19, 1998.

She is survived by her sons, Dr. Curtis J. Bell of Franklinville N.J. and Clifford Jay Bell of San Francisco; three grandchildren; and two stepgrandchildren. She also leaves her brothers, William Guidosh and Edward Guidosh; several nieces and nephews; and grandnieces and grandnephews.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, George and John Guidosh.

There will be calling hours on Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Stewart-Kyle Funeral Home.

Burial will be at Hubbard Union Cemetery.

Leroy A. Breit, 82

BERLIN CENTER – Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at North Jackson Cemetery for Leroy A. Breit, 82, who passed away Wednesday at Forum Health Northside Medical Center.

Leroy was born March 1, 1927 in Berlin Center, a son of the late Albert L. and Anna K. (Keeler) Breit.

Leroy served in the U.S. Army and was of the Methodist faith. He was an equipment operator for the Operating Engineer’s Union Hall 66. He was a member of the American Legion Post 737, Veterans of Foreign Wars in Lake Milton and the Union Retirement Club.

His wife, the former Grace Geric, whom he married July 19, 1960 is deceased.

He is survived by a sister, Martha Mae Kale of Berlin Center; one brother, Delbert L. Breit of Columbiana; and several nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents and wife, Leroy was preceded in death by a brother, Burton B. Breit.

Patrick J. Connelly

LOWELLVILLE – A memorial remembrance dinner will be held on Friday, Oct. 2, 2009, from 5 to 8 p.m at Lowellville Park Apartments Senior Center for Patrick J. Connelly who died at his home on Sunday Sept. 27, 2009.

He was born in Cuyahoga Falls to the late Thomas and Loretta Stanton Connelly.

He is survived by a daughter, Colleen Soares of Struthers; a son, Christopher (Melinda) Connelly of Poland; eight grandchildren, Thomas, Trey, Aaron, Nicole, Kaitlyn, Austin, Alicia and David; and three great-grandchildren, Nascere, Thomas Jr. and Hailey.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Bonnie Cavanaugh Connelly, whom he married, Dec. 2, 1967 and she died March 21, 2008.

Edeva L. Daniels, 82

WARREN – Services will be Friday, Oct 2, 2009, at 11 a.m. at the Mt. Zion Baptist Church for Mrs. Edeva L. Daniels, 82, formerly of Youngstown, who departed this life Friday, Sept. 25, 2009, at Forum Health Trumbull Memorial Hospital.

Mrs. Daniels was born June 23, 1927 in Sandersville, Ga., a daughter of Arsie Davis, coming to the Campbell area in 1944.

A homemaker, Edeva was a great cook and baker. She was a member of the Mt. Zion Baptist Church.

She leaves to cherish her loving memory, four children, Vernice Davis of Warren, Peggie (Wilbur) Jackson of Youngstown, Curtis Daniels of Greensburg, Pa. and the Rev. Gary (Brenda) Rozier of Campbell; two sisters, Evelyn White of Cleveland and Anna Pearl Hunter of Jacksonville, Fla.; a brother, Fred Davis of Jacksonville; a daughter-in-law, Barbara Daniels; 36 grandchildren; and a host of great and great-great-grandchildren and other family and friends.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Clarence Daniels; second husband, David Rozier; three sons, David, Eddie and Billie Daniels; two daughters, Mary Daniels and Theresa Thomas; four grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; a brother, Cleveland Andrews; and a sister, Lucille Thompson.

Mary Ann Faustino, 66

GIRARD – A Mass of Christian Burial will be said Saturday, Oct. 3, 2009, at 10 a.m. at St. Edward Church for Mary Ann Faustino, 66, who died Tuesday, Sept. 29, 2009, at Hospice House.

Mary Ann was born June 3, 1943 in Youngstown, a daughter of Dominic J. and Anna Marie Savone Faustino Sr.

She was an avid reader who enjoyed mystery books. She also enjoyed crossword puzzles, word search books, and soap operas. She was a former member of the church and a member of the 55 Plus Club.

Mary Ann was a loving person who displayed unconditional love for family and friends.

She is survived by a sister, Gloria Marquez of Girard; a brother, Dominic J. (Vicky) Faustino Jr. of Liberty; five nieces, Mary (Brad) Sloan, Anna Marie (Chris) Carusso, Jacque Faustino, Jordyn Faustino and Jayde Faustino; two great-nephews, Hayden and Pierce Sloan; two great-nieces, Marisa and Katelyn Carusso; and her loving cats, Tizzy and Tazzy.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Alfred S. Faustino; and a brother-in-law, Ralph Marquez.

Olga J. Foldvary, 76

YOUNGSTOWN – Services will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. at St. Christine Catholic Church for Olga J. Foldvary, 76, who passed away Sunday evening at Hospice House.

Olga was born July 20, 1933 in Youngstown, a daughter of Alexander and Elizabeth Korchmaros Foldvary.

She graduated from North High School in 1951.

Olga worked as a secretary at LTV Steel Co. for 25 years and a secretary at Eastminister Presbytery for 17 years. She was also a stenographer and secretary for several attorneys in the Youngstown area.

Olga was a caregiver for several years. She was a member of St. Christine Catholic Church and loved to read, go on long walks, enjoyed nature and loved animals, especially her beloved dog, Cody.

Olga is survived by her three brothers, William Foldvary of Boardman, Dr. Robert (Marilyn) Foldvary of Defiance and Dr. Elmer (Mary) Foldvary of Poland; a sister, Goldie Smith of Glassport, Pa.; cousins, Irma Kolesar, Frank Laskay and Esther Mihalcak; nieces, Valerie Dakin, Michele Morris, Jeanne Houy, Marilyn Houy and Joanie Fortin; and nephews, Robbie Smith, Mathew and Mark, Foldvary and Jack Modarelli Jr.

Olga was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Helen (Eugene) Houy and Ethel (Jack) Modarelli.

She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.

Friends may call Saturday from 9 to 10 a.m. at the church.

Mary E. C. Foster, 65

YOUNGSTOWN – Services will be Friday, Oct. 2, 2009, at noon at the Bibleland Church of God in Christ for Mrs. Mary E. C. Foster, 65, who departed this life Sunday, Sept. 27, 2009, at Alliance Community Hospital.

Mrs. Foster was born Nov. 19, 1943 in Youngstown, a daughter of John B. Copeland Sr. and Dorothy M. Booker.

In addition to being a foster parent and private duty nurse, Mary was a member of the Bibleway Church of God in Christ, its first lady, Prayer and Bible Band teacher, Sunday school teacher, a member of the culinary committee and aspiring missionary. She enjoyed cooking and loved people.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her mother, Dorothy M. Duckett; her beloved husband, Elder James A. Foster, whom she married Aug. 1, 1994; three children, David L. (Priscilla) Shine of Riverdale, Ga., Dorina L. Shine and Tonjia M. (Donald) Bradley, both of Youngstown; a brother, John (Fannie) Copeland of Youngstown; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a host of family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her father and a sister, Margaret L. King.

Arthur F. Gilmore, 62

SALEM – Services will be Saturday, Oct. 3, 2009, at 10 a.m. at the Greater Friendship Baptist Church for Mr. Arthur F. Gilmore, 62, who departed this life Saturday, Sept. 26, 2009, at Salem Hospital.

Mr. Gilmore was born May 10, 1947 in Youngstown, a son of Jasper Jr. and Dorothy Jennings Gilmore.

He was a U.S. Marine veteran having served in Vietnam. He was a member of the Greater Friendship Baptist Church and its usher board. He enjoyed traveling, fishing, boat rides, classic cars, and was an avid movie fan. He loved sports and his his favorite football team was the Green Bay Packers.

He leaves to cherish his memory his mother, Dorothy Jackson of Campbell; his father and stepmother, Jasper (Dorothy) Gilmore Jr.; six children, Tracie, Stacie and Sherese, all of Youngstown, Kimberly and Kaylyn Gilmore and Marquise Adkins, all of Salem; seven brothers and sisters, Robert Gilmore, Sabra “Shelley” Gilmore, Sheryl Boudrey, Yvonne Drummer and Pamela Jusino, all of Youngstown, Semmie Gilmore of Campbell and William “Kevin” Gilmore of Virginia: 36 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and a host of other family and friends.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Connie Cheirs; a brother, Henry Sellers Jr.; a stepson, Keith Cochran; and two grandsons.

John E. “Jack” Greene, 88

“Together Forever”

AUSTINTOWN – Services will be at 9:15 a.m. Saturday at the McCauley Funeral Home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Mary’s Church in Mineral Ridge for John E. “Jack” Greene, 88, formerly of Wesley Avenue in Youngstown, who passed Monday afternoon at St. Elizabeth Health Center with his family at his side.

Jack was born Feb. 23, 1921 in Youngstown, a son of George M. and Helen Flynn Greene and was a lifelong member of the community.

He first worked for Youngstown Sheet and Tube from 1939 thru 1944, then worked for Schwebel Bakery from 1944 thru 1945, then to American Baking in Youngstown from 1945 thru 1946, then worked for American Baking in Akron from 1946 thru 1950, then to Millers from 1950 thru 1954, then worked for ITT Continental, which was Wonder Bread from 1954 until his retirement on July 31, 1983.

Jack was a member of St. Brendan Church, where he was an usher. As an avid golfer, he was a member of the St. Brendan’s and Holy Name Golf Leagues, as an avid bowler, he belonged to the St. Brendan’s Bowling League for many years.

He enjoyed crossword puzzles, loved watching old movies, especially Westerns and spending time with his family.He was a graduate of Chaney High School and belonged to the American Bakers Union 425

His wife, the former Olga E. Takacs, whom he married March 18, 1944, passed away June 13, 1993.

Jack leaves to cherish his memory sons, John (Linda) of West Middlesex and Michael of Austintown; daughters, Margie (Ralph) McClure of Boardman, Kathleen (John) Jacobs of Austintown and Barbara Greene of Boardman; grandchildren, John, Richard, Robert and Michael Greene, Tiffany Berndt, Todd Evans, Kevin, Keith and Brian Dettmer and Robert Weaver; 15 great-grandchildren; his brother-in-law and sister-in- law, Louis and Betty Czifra of Mineral Ridge; and another sister-in-law, Mary Jo Gilmore of Cuyahoga Falls.

Besides his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a son, Robert; brothers, George, Edward and Theodore Greene; and grandchildren, Nicole and Christopher Dettmer.

The family will receive friends and family from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Lillian Jeanette McLaughlin, 75

“Together Again”

NORTH LIMA – Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the Fox Funeral Home in Boardman for Lillian Jeanette McLaughlin, 75, who died Tuesday morning at Caprice Health Care Center surrounded by her family.

Lillian was born March 10, 1934 in Ranier, Fla., a daughter of Bertie Lee and Emma Crews Privette.

She had worked for Handleman Company which was a book warehouse. She was an avid bingo player and enjoyed sports.

Her husband, James L. McLaughlin, whom she married April 18, 1950, died Dec. 29, 2007.

She leaves two daughters, Sara (Mark) DeNapoli of Poland and Doletta (Clarence) Root of New Springfield; a son, James (Karen) McLaughlin of Petersburg; a sister-in-law, Wanda Zolla of Boardman; two brothers-in-law, Earl McLaughlin of Washington and Ed Ressler of California; eight grandchildren, Christina Capouellez, Joshua DeNapoli, Kevin Root, Lindsay Root, Carrie Root , James McLaughlin, Meghan McLaughlin and Tyler McLaughlin; and two great-grandchildren.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Sarah Ressler; and a brother, Henry Lee Privette.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Norma Jean Schell, 75

YOUNGSTOWN – Norma Jean Schell, 75, formerly of Struthers, was called to be with her Lord and Savior Tuesday evening at St. Elizabeth Boardman Health Center.

Mrs. Schell, affectionately known as Dolly, was born June 23, 1934 in Youngstown, a daughter of Charles and Cloyd Emery Rosenberger. She lived most of her life in Struthers.

Dolly was a 1952 graduate of Struthers High School and graduated from Youngstown College of Business with an accounting degree in 1980. She was a bookkeeper for various businesses, including Youngstown Sheet & Tube, Hills Department Store, Big Lots and IGA.

Dolly was a member of the Faith Community Church and a former member of the Struthers Presbyterian Church and the Christ Lutheran Church. She was past president of the Struthers PTA and a member and treasurer of the Struthers Band Boosters.

Her husband, Richard Clyde Schell, whom she married May 4, 1954, died Dec. 30, 1970.

Dolly leaves her daughter, Linda Schell of Boardman; her son, Daniel R. (Grace) Schell of Fountain, Colo.; four grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; and a dear friend, Ralph Heberling.

Besides her parents and husband, Dolly was preceded in death by five brothers, Ralph, Donald, Roy, Charles and Frederick Rosenberger; and two sisters, Betty Elgin and Faye Worrel.

Services will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. at the Davidson-Becker Funeral Home in Struthers, with Pastors Richard and William Samuels officiating. Interment will follow at Lake Park Cemetery.

Friends will be received Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

James W. Young, 89

NILES – Funeral services will be held at noon Saturday at the Lane Funeral Home, Austintown Chapel for James W. Young, 89, who died early Wednesday morning at University Hospital in Cleveland.

He was born May 8, 1920 in Youngstown, a son of the late William and Edna (Scargill) Young.

He was a 1939 graduate of Chaney High School. He was also a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during World War II, where he was a POW for several years.

He was a locomotive operator in the open hearth at Youngstown Sheet and Tube retiring in August of 1980.

He was a member of the Mahoning United Methodist Church in Youngstown. He was also a member of the POW Steel Valley Chapter No. 13 and DAV Chapter 11 in Warren. He also resided in San Antonio for the past ten years before moving back to Ohio this July. While in Florida, he served as officer and treasurer of Chapter 1 of the Ex POW’s of Newport Richey. In his spare time he enjoyed computers and playing cards.

He married the former Evelyn Sheddy on Jan. 5, 1952, and she preceded him in death Sept. 1, 2003.

He is survived by a brother, William R. Young of Youngstown; and two sisters, Edna May Cosma of Youngstown and Harriet Cleland of Brookpark. He also leaves behind his nieces, JoAnn (Thomas) Dugan of Niles, with whom he made his home, Patricia Petridis of Austintown and Laura (John) Tucker of Hudson; and several other nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews.

Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents.

Friends may call from 11 a.m. to noon on Saturday at the funeral home with services immediately following.
