Antoinette (Carelly) Ciarella, 94
WARREN Antoinette (Carelly) Ciarella, 94, passed away Monday Oct. 12, 2009, at White Oak Monor, formerly of Victoria Street in the Briar Hill section of Youngstown.
Antoinette was born March 12, 1915, the daughter of Anthony and Mary Battista Altier Carelly.
She lived in Youngstown most of her life.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Joseph and James Carelly; dear friends, Art and Peggy Marsh; and her cousin, Rose Maniccia.
Family and friends may call at the Blackstone Funeral Home on Thursday from 9 to 11 a.m., with services beginning at 11 a.m.
Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
Frank G. Dascenzo, 80
YOUNGSTOWN Frank G. Dascenzo, 80, passed away Sunday, Oct. 11, 2009, at his residence.
He was born Jan. 4, 1929 in Youngstown, the son of Anthony Dascenzo and Mercedes (Carosella) Dascenzo.
Frank leaves his wife, the former Jean Jordan, whom he married on Nov. 11, 1950. He also leaves his sons, Frank J. (Michele) Dascenzo of Canfield and James Dascenzo of Canfield; his daughters, Janet (Dr. James) Kozlow of Poland and Mary Jean (Larry) Polkovitch of Canfield; his brother, Anthony (Pat) Dascenzo of Boardman; his nephew, Dr. Thomas (Kim) Mucci of Poland; and his grandchildren, Amy and Dan Polkovitch, Jimmy and Alyssa Kozlow, Nicole, Michael, Gina, Anthony, Nicolas Dascenzo and Alayna Mucci.
Frank was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, Arman, Joseph and Ralph Dascenzo.
He was a 1948 graduate of East High School and a U.S. Army veteran, who served during the Korean War.
Frank was a firefighter for the city of Youngstown, who served as an engineer and retired in 1990. He was also employed at Dutch Auto Body.
Calling hours will be at the Fabrizio Funeral Home, 619 E. Indianola Ave. in Youngstown on Wednesday, Oct. 14, from 4 to 7 p.m. and from 9 to 9:30 a.m. at the funeral home on Thursday.
His services will be at the Immaculate Conception Church at 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 15, 2009.
Betty (Tulipano) Frederick
NAPLES, FLA. Betty (Tulipano) Frederick, formerly of Youngstown, passed away Sunday, Sept. 6, 2009.
Born in Youngstown, she was the daughter of Thomas and Mary Thompson. Betty moved to Naples in 1979 and leaves behind many friends in both Naples and Youngstown.
She was a member of the Naples Moose Lodge and the Elks and loved to play cards with her friends and family.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Russell Frederick; her mother, Mary Thompson; her father, Thomas Thompson; her brothers, Ross and James Thompson; sisters Eileen Porter, Dorothy Smith and Rosemary Burns; grandsons Curtis Hilton and Bryan Tulipano; and her stepdaughter, Mary Ann Capezzutti.
She is survived by her children, Frank Bill Hanley and Karen Donnadio of Naples, Deborah Tulipano and Tom Tulipano of Virginia and Tony (Susie) Tulipano of Youngstown; grandchildren Gayle Hilton, April Donnadio, Sean Hanley, Stacey Tulipano and Tommy, David and Michael Vincent Tulipano; great-grandchildren Karalynne Battista, Chris, Mike, Tony and Zach Rossi, Jessica and Sean William Hanley and Taylor (Tulipano) Young; one great-great-granddaughter, Vivianna Battista; her stepdaughter, Bridget McGinnis; nieces Kathy McLaughlin and Pam and Maureen Thompson; and nephews Bruce Burns and Jamie Thompson.
Betty was a loving mother, sister, grandmother and friend who was deeply loved and will be forever missed.
A memorial service celebrating Bettys life will be held at 2064 Canfield Road on Oct. 17, 2009 at 3 p.m.
Bruce B. Gillies, 78
CHATSWORTH, CALIF. Bruce B. Gillies, 78, passed away Oct. 5, 2009.
Born and raised in Youngstown, Bruce was a resident of Chatsworth for over 45 years.
He is survived by his high school sweetheart and wife, Sally (Ipe); his children, Bruce (Kathy Sell), Susan (Frank Wachter) and Karen (Alfonso Garita); his brother, Malcolm; and by his loving grandchildren, Cassandra, Lorenzo, Rebecca, Dominik, Jonathan and Samuel.
Bruce proudly served in the U.S. Navy on the aircraft carrier, The USS Bairoko in Korea. He worked for Atomics International/Rockwell International for 35 years, until he retired.
Services will be held on Oct. 14, at 2 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church of Granada Hills in Northridge, Calif.
Eugene A. Geno November, 68
WARREN There will be a Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, Oct. 16, 2009, at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph Church in Warren, with Fr. Frederick Trucksis officiating, preceded by a 10:30 a.m. service at the Peter Rossi & Son Memorial Chapel, for Eugene A. Geno November, 68, who passed away Sunday Oct. 11, 2009, at Robinson Memorial Hospital due to complications from pneumonia and congestive heart failure.
Eugene A. Geno November was born Dec. 5, 1940, the son of James and Rose Vendemia November.
He was a 1958 graduate of Warren G. Harding High School. He was an office manager for Dravo Construction Co. for 10 years. Music was his life, he played anything with keys on it, especially the accordion. He composed and recorded his own music, including music for the Accordion Mass Chior. He had played with various area Polka and Variety Bands. He was also a member of the Penn-Ohio Button Box Club.
He was a member of St. Joseph Church, and enjoyed fishing, cooking, and musicals.
He leaves to cherish his memory, a son, James P. November of Euclid; a daughter, Rosemarie (Billy Olsen) November of Ft. Pierce, Fla.; a son, Geno M. (Lisa) November of McDonald; seven grandchildren, Nicholas, Michael, Daniel, Marino and Luciano November and Jeffrey and Anthony Rose; five brothers, Theodore (Lucille) November of Warren, Peter November of Cortland, William Novembrini of Niles, James (Helen) November Jr. of Newton Falls and his brother and caregiver, Larry Holladay of Mineral Ridge; and two sisters, Mary Vincent of Niles and Laverne Lipo of Sharon, Pa.
He was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters, Pauline Amprim, Sylvia Giddings and Dora Stocz.
Calling hours will be Thursday, Oct. 15, 2009, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Peter Rossi & Son Memorial Chapel, 1884 North Road NE, Warren, OH 44483.
Burial will be at Pine Knoll Cemetery.
Nicholas G. Patti, 44
CUYAHOGA FALLS Nicholas G. Patti, 41, passed away on Oct. 5, 2009.
Born in Cleveland, he had been an area resident the past three years and was employed by Goodrich Landing Gear as a financial analyst.
He was a member of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish.
A loving father and devoted husband, he is survived by wife Julie Ronyak, formerly of Campbell; his son, Steven; mother Arlene Patti of Mentor; sister Donna Patti of Painesville; brother John Patti of Mentor; father-in-law Mark Ronyak; mother-in-law Jeanne; and brother-in-law Adam.
His greatest goal was to marry and have children. He loved his son more than anything.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Church.
Interment was at Holy Cross Cemetery.

Donald Sabel, 76
YOUNGSTOWN A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Wednesday at St. Brendans Church with the Rev. Fr. Tim O'Neill officiating, and prayers offered at 10:30 a.m. at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home, Austintown Chapel for Donald Sabel, 76, who died early Saturday morning at the Hospice House.
Don was born in Youngstown on Oct. 29, 1932 to the late John A. and Lillian H. (Lederman) Sabel.
He was a graduate of South High School in 1951, he attended Kent State University, and recieved his bachelors degree from Youngstown College in Mechanical Engineering. He was employed by Mehle Engineering in Warren for many years.
He was a member of St. Brendans Church. He enjoyed music, loved to water ski, and never let anything stand in his way.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his two sisters, Joan Lois Gollan and Rhoda Kukura.
He is survived by two nieces, Lori Kiley and Judy Martin; and a nephew, Bob Kukura. Don also leaves his good friends, Steve and Peggy Powlysyn.
Friends may call Wednesday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home.
Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery.

Linda Joyce Spires, 67
BOARDMAN A funeral service celebrating the life of Mrs. Linda Joyce Spires, 67, will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at St. Andrews AME Church with the Rev. Steven Jackson officiating.
Mrs. Spires was born Aug. 18, 1942 in Farrell, Pa., a daughter of Robinson and Eula Mae McPhaul Ford.
She graduated from Farrell High School and in 1966, she received her degree in business administration from Youngstown State University.
She was formerly employed with the Youngstown Urban League and St. Andrews AME Church as the church secretary for over 33 years. She was a member of the Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority and founding member of Women Hand In Hand Inc.
As a member of the church, she served on the Stewardess Board and dedicated her talents to the free lunch program. She found joy in traveling, cooking, reading and spending time with her family and friends. She was a devoted wife and mother, who will be deeply missed by those who knew her.
On Sunday, Oct. 11, 2009, our heavenly Father cast his eternal light onto her residence and beckoned her home.
She leaves to cherish her memory her loving and devoted husband of 41 years, Donald Spires, whom she married Dec. 21, 1968; her loving sons, Donald Spires of San Diego and David Spires of Boardman; two sisters, Beatrice Ford and Shirley Riley, both of Wheatland, Pa.; and a host of other relatives and dear friends.
She was greeted in heaven by her parents and two brothers, Thomas and Robinson Ford Jr.

James H. Thomas, 70
Together Again
YOUNGSTOWN Funeral services will be held Thursday at noon at the F.D. Mason Memorial Funeral Home for James H. Thomas, 70, who departed this life Tuesday, Oct. 6, 2009, at St. Elizabeth Health Center.
Mr. Thomas was born Sept. 3, 1939, in Youngstown, a son of Herbert and Lillian Tarpley Thomas.
He retired from Republic Steel.
His wife, the former Sherri Gordon, died April 19, 2006.
He leaves five children, Tony, (Rose) Thomas, Herbert (Olivia) Thomas, Herman (Nancy) Thomas and Anita J. Thomas, all of Sacramento, Calif. and Tony Cail of Phoenix; a brother, Joseph Thomas of Youngstown; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
His parents and a son, Leonard Thomas, preceded him in death.
Viewing will be held Wednesday from noon to 4 p.m. and friends may call one hour prior to service at the funeral home.
