Gretchen Roemer Birrell

GIRARD – Gretchen Roemer Birrell, died on Oct. 18, 2009.

She was born on Feb. 8, 1925 in Canton, to May Ethel and Henry A. Roemer.

After attending Ellis School in Pittsburgh and Abbott Academy in Andover, Mass., she graduated from Vassar College in the class of 1945-4 choosing to accelerate her degree in chemistry, during World War II. While in college, she acquired her private pilot’s license with the goal of joining the Women’s Air Force, but this plan was vetoed by her father. After graduation from Vassar, she worked for E.I. Dupont in Cleveland until her marriage in 1947 to G. Fordyce Gayton, who preceded her in death in 1982.

In the 1950s, she began a life-long path of volunteer community service with specific interest in Planned Parenthood of Mahoning Valley, serving as a board member and its president.

During the 1960s, she taught mathematics and investments at Youngstown State University.

She was actively involved in the hospital community of Youngstown serving initially as member and chairman of the Women’s Board of the Youngstown Hospital Association and in 1981 was named the first female member of the Board of Trustees of Western Reserve Care System. In 1991, she was then elected as its first female Chairman.

In 1985, she was married to Carl Dennison, who preceded her in death in 1987.

Her passion for golf led to her appointment to the Women’s Committee of the United States Golf Association and she also officiated at the US Open, Curtis Cup, and US Amateur tournaments. Her game was excellent as well, maintaining a single digit handicap and won the Women’s Club Championship at the Youngstown Country Club numerous times. She also competed in the Women’s Ohio State Championship. An avid traveler, she drove golf balls on all seven continents.

She is survived by her husband, Bruce Birrell of Girard; three children, Happy Hawn of Ketchum, Idaho, Fordyce Gayton and wife, Jan Bergman of Bellvue, Colo., and Gretchen Babcock and husband Judd Babcock of Edwards, Colo.; three stepdaughters, Lee Wick Dennison of Chevy Chase, Md., Barbara Hyde of Chardon and Lisa Turner of Chagrin Falls; and one granddaughter, Jenica Dickerson of Ft. Collins, Colo.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to Planned Parenthood of Northeast Ohio, 77 E. Midlothian Blvd., Youngstown, OH 44507 or the charity of your choice.

Mary M. Blice, 97

WILMINGTON, DEL. – Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday at the Davis Funeral Home in Boardman for Mary M. Blice, 97, formerly of Struthers and Boardman.

She passed away Saturday morning at Brandywine Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Wilmington.

Mrs. Blice was born Oct. 11, 1912 in Campbell, a daughter of James and Eva Honey Morrow.

She was a 1930 graduate of Campbell Memorial High School and had worked at the S.H. Kress Company. Later, she worked in the cafeteria at Wilson High School, retiring in 1973.

Mary enjoyed bowling with the Christian Women’s Bowling League. She was a life member of the Order of Eastern Star-Miriam Chapter. As a former member of the Pilgrim Collegiate Church, she was a member of the Women’s Fellowship and the Fortress Circle.

Her husband, Harry E. (Jake) Blice Sr., whom she married Sept. 26, 1939, died May 8, 1974.

Surviving her is a daughter, Marlene (Dave) Kreps of Hockessin, Del.; five grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. Also a nephew, William (Kathy) Morrow of Hubbard and their three sons.

Preceding her in death besides her husband and parents, is a son, Harry E. Blice Jr.; three sisters, Ora Morrow, Eva Jones and Vida Cornish; and three brothers, Joseph E., J. Wilton and Clifford A. Morrow.

Friends may call Thursday from 5 to 7 p.m. and Friday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Davis Funeral Home in Boardman.

DaVail Jamar Richard Bryant, 6

YOUNGSTOWN – On Monday, Oct. 12, 2009, God dispatched his angels to University Hospital in Cleveland to gently cradle and take DaVail Jamar Richard Bryant, 6, to his celestial heavenly home,.

DaVail was born March 6, 2003, in Youngstown, a son of DaVail Jamar Richard Bryant Sr. and Sparkle Annissa Sanders.

He was a member of the New Bethel Baptist Church and a student at Leonard Kirtz School. A child full of love, fun and laughter, DaVail was a member of the Challenger Baseball League, attended swim lessons at the YMCA, loved dogs, especially his aunt and uncle’s German Shepherd, Baron. He was an avid fan of the Cleveland Cavaliers and Pittsburgh Steelers. He enjoyed balloons, playing with bubbles and watching Elmo. He loved his family and enjoyed spending time with his cousin, Ashley and his grandfather, who he lovingly called “Big Dad, his Buddy.”

He leaves to cherish his precious little memories and adorable smile, his mother, Sparkle; father, DaVail Sr.; two brothers, Kamron and Karron Bryant; two sisters, Alexis Saunders and Kaprise Bryant; grandparents, Floyd and Cynthia F. Davis, Melvin and Eartha Sanders and Pauline Tyson, all of Youngstown and Alicia Bryant of Maryland; great-grandparents, Lawrence and Ada Young and Eron Bryant, all of Youngstown, Melvinia (Emile) Sanders-Hawkins of Akron and Jessie Bryant of Lordstown; and a host of family and friends.

He was greeted by the Angels in heaven and his grandparent, John Bryant Sr., John Bryant Jr. and Eli and Creola Davis.

Naomi Douds Dornan, 91

POLAND – Naomi Douds Dornan, 91, died Sept. 24, at Beeghly Oaks in Boardman.

Born in Youngstown on Feb. 1, 1918 to John and Margaret Young McKibben, Naomi was a lifelong area resident.

She was a 1936 graduate of South High School and worked as a receptionist for Drs. Marvin and Bert Goldstein for 25 years, retiring in 1980.

During World War II, she proudly worked as a welder at Truscon Steel.

Naomi was a member of the John Knox Presbyterian Church in Youngstown and the Miriam Chapter of Eastern Star.

Known for her sense of humor and generosity, as well as her willingness to help others when needed, she will be missed by all of those who knew and loved her. She was a truly unique and special person.

She leaves her sons, John (Susan) Douds of Colden , N.Y., James (Janet) Douds of Poland, Bill (April) Dornan of Poland, David (Ruby) Dornan of California and Jim Dornan of Salem; grandchildren, Shannon, Bill, Jim, Tim, Todd, Trisha, Melanie and Jared; and great-grandchildren, Lea, Lauren, Zoey and Noah.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Jack Douds and her second husband, William G. Dornan; and her two brothers, John and William McKibben.

Friends will be received Saturday, Oct. 24, from 2 to 3 p.m. at the Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home in Poland, where memorial services will be held at 3 p.m.

Theodora “Dee” “Dora” (Mamonis) Economakis, 90

YOUNGSTOWN – Theodora “Dee” “Dora” (Mamonis) Economakis, 90, passed away on Monday, Oct. 19, 2009, at her home at 4:20 a.m.

Born in Youngstown, she was the daughter of Demetrios and Mary Mamonis.

She was a member of St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church, the Ladies’ Philoptochos Society and the Senior Citizens Group.

“Dee” and her husband, Peter, owned and operated P-Dee’s Restaurant in Coitsville. She also worked at McKenzie Square at the Eastwood Mall.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Peter Economakis; her father and mother, Demetrios and Mary Mamonis; two sisters, Catherine Fentules and Argero Nicolaidis; and two brothers, Gust Mamounis and Angelo Mamonis.

Dee was an accomplished artist, and had a love of gardening, cooking, baking and cake decorating.

She is survived by her children, Louise Gibb of Brookfield, Joann (Leland) Musguire of New Bedford, Pa. and John (Kathy) Economakis of North Jackson; her brother, Anthony (Helen) Mamonis, eight grandchildren, Nick Gibb, Peter Gibb, Troy Musguire, David Schick, John Economakis, Christopher Jewel, Adrienne Wagner and Leland Musguire; six great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. She also leaves her companion, Ted Roguski.

Calling hours will be today, Oct. 21, 2009, at the Vaschak-Kirila Funeral Home on 3100 Canfield Road in Youngstown from 4 to 8 p.m. The prayer service will be at 7 p.m.

Funeral services will be at St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church, 220 N. Walnut St. in Youngstown at 11 a.m. on Thursday.

Friends may also call from 10:30 to 11 a.m. on Thursday at the church.

Services will be officiated by Fr. John Karabatsos.

Burial will be at Belmont Cemetery.

Mildred E. Kochenour Anderson, 86

AUSTINTOWN – Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Western Reserve United Methodist Church in Canfield for Mildred E. Kochenour Anderson, 86, who died Monday evening at Sharon Regional Hospital..

She was born Feb. 8, 1923, in Youngstown, a daughter of Harold J. and Mildred E. (Allcook) Baun.

She was a 1942 graduate of Chaney High School, and she spent her adult life as a homemaker, raising and caring for her family.

She was a member of the Western Reserve Methodist Church. She was also a member of the Eastern Star Mansfield, Ruth Chapter 17.

She married her first husband, William L. Kochenour Jr., Nov. 8, 1945 and he preceded her in death Jan. 14, 1965. She then married her second husband, Fred B. Anderson, July 15, 1967 and he died March 30, 1996.

She is survived by three children, Sharon L. (Bruce) Miller of Huron, Dr. William L. (Patricia Komara) Kochenour II of Palm Harbor, Fla. and Mildred E. “Midge” (Walter) Johnson of Mercer, Pa. She also leaves behind eight grandchildren, Amanda M. (Jeremy) Pfhal of Medina, Bruce R. (Aubrey) Miller II of Denver, William L. (Kelly) Kochenour III of Oldsmar, Fla., Nicholas S. Kochenour of Louisville, Ky., Patrick T. Kochenour of Tallahassee, Fla., Anne Marie Kochenour of Palm Harbor, Sarah E. (David Hall) Johnson of Cranberry Township, Pa. and Tyler C. Johnson of Fort Collins, Colo.; a stepsister, Patricia Whitcomb; and a stepbrother, James L. Baun, both of California; and her companion, Darwynd Blackstone of Austintown.

Besides her two husbands, she was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Jack and William Baun; a stepbrother, Richard A. Baun; and a sister, Ramona Clark.

Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at the Lane Funeral Home, Austintown Chapel and from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the church.

A brief service will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday at the Grace Episcopal Church in Mansfield followed by committal and burial services at the Mansfield Memorial Cemetery.

Edward J. Liptay, 82

BOARDMAN – Edward J. Liptay, 82, passed away Tuesday morning, Oct. 20, 2009, at Forum Health Northside Medical Center.

Edward was born Nov. 16, 1926, in Youngstown, a son of the late Andrew and Mary Ann Spak Liptay, and was a lifelong area resident.

Ed served in the U.S. Army during World War II and upon his return home, he became a self-employed construction worker, owning and operating EDKO Co. for 40 years. He was a member of the Holy Name of Jesus Church, Bricklayers, Terrazzo and Tile Setters Union Local No. 8, and enjoyed going to Mountaineer Racetrack.

Ed leaves his sisters-in-law, Barbara Liptay of Girard and Mary Louise Liptay of Youngstown; three nephews; two nieces; two great-nephews; six great-nieces; a great-great-nephew; and five great-great-nieces.

Four brothers, Paul, Martin, George and Andrew Liptay and a sister, Helen Leone, preceded him in death.

Family and friends may call on Thursday, Oct. 22, 2009, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Kinnick Funeral Home, 477 N. Meridian Road in Youngstown.

Funeral services will begin Friday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home and continue at 11:30 a.m. at the Holy Name of Jesus Church.

Jacqueline L. Malcomson, 60

NILES – Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the Lane Funeral Home, Mineral Ridge Chapel for Jacqueline L. Malcomson, 60, who died Monday afternoon at Forum Health Trumbull Memorial Hospital.

Jacqueline was born May 11, 1948 in Ohio.

She had worked at Jib-Jab Hot Dog Shoppe in Girard as a waitress and was a graduate of McDonald High School.

Jacqueline is survived by her husband, Timothy A. Malcomson; and three children, John W. Malcomson of Niles, Gerald L. (Heather) Malcomson of Mineral Ridge and Kandi Malcomson of Niles. She also leaves eight grandchildren, Sandy L., Timothy J., Heidi, Hannah, Hope, Heaven and Samuel Malcomson and Makala Hickey; and one great-granddaughter, Keira Malcomson.

Paul J. Marquette, 68

YOUNGSTOWN – Paul J. Marquette, 68, passed away Saturday afternoon, Oct. 17, 2009, at St. Elizabeth Health Center in Boardman.

Paul was born Nov. 22, 1940 in Youngstown, a son of the late Frank J. and Katherine Kovacs Marquette, was a 1958 graduate of East High School and a lifelong area resident. He was a sheet metal worker with Local No. 33 for 41 years, retiring in 2001.

Mr. Marquette was a member of St. Christine Church, the Saxon Club, and Fraternal Order of Eagles Austintown Aerie 3298 and Youngstown Aerie 213. He enjoyed bocce, camping, and most importantly, spending time with his family.

He leaves his wife, Patricia J. Popio Marquette, whom he married Nov. 28, 1959; three children, Barbara (Richard) Scarazzo of Youngstown, Michael Marquette at home and Paul F. Marquette of Youngstown; four grandchildren, Sarah and Ricky Scarazzo and Mikey and P.J. Marquette; and a sister, Mary Ann (Jim) DePizzo of Columbiana.

Charles J. Mason, 60

BOARDMAN – Charles J. Mason, 60, died at 9:10 a.m. Monday at Hospice House in Poland.

He was born March 19, 1949 in Salem, a son of Arlan F. and Marilyn (Noll) Mason of Salem.

He was a veteran serving in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam Conflict.

He had been employed at Extreme Manufacturing in Youngstown as a machine maintenance technician, until April of this year.

Besides his parents, he is also survived by a daughter, Melodie Ann Mason of Pennsylvania; two sons, Scott Allen Mason of Salem and Bryan Lee Mason of Youngstown; three brothers, William R. Mason of Stone Ridge, Va., Arlan F. Mason II of Elizabeth, Ind. and Jeffrey L. Mason of Salem; and three grandchildren.

Services will be held at the Arbaugh-Pearce-Greenisen Funeral Home on Friday at 3 p.m. with the Rev. Jack Austin officiating.

Visitation will be Friday from 1 to 3 p.m. at the funeral home.

Burial will be at the Grandview Cemetery with full military honors.

Virginia Miovac, 83

AUSTINTOWN – Friends may call today from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home, Austintown Chapel, where services will be held at 6 p.m. for Virginia Miovac, 83, who died Monday at the Hospice House.

Virginia was born May 31, 1926 in Mansfield, the daughter of Edgar and Leone Derror Neel.

She was a graduate of Ontario High School and a devoted mother and homemaker.

She is survived by three daughters, Sharron Sheehe of Mansfield, Linda (Al) Gifford of Austintown and Rebecca (Terry) Procick of Florida; three sons, James Connelly of Youngstown, Fred (Roni) Coulter of Austintown and Alexander Coulter of North Carolina; a sister, Mary (Guy) Fugitt of Mansfield; two brothers, Frank Neel and Dan (Helen) Neel of Mansfield; 13 grandchildren; and her great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by three husbands, James Connelly, Jay Coulter and Joseph Miovac; and two brothers, Richard and James Neel.

Burial will take place at Mansfield Memorial Park.

Alma Jean Morgan , 84

CANFIELD – Services will be at 11 a.m. on Friday at the Lane Funeral Home, Canfield Chapel for Alma Jean Morgan, 84, who passed away Monday at her home.

Alma Jean was born April 24, 1925 in Youngstown, the daughter of John C. and Ruth T. (Hodge) Johnson.

She was a graduate of Wilson High School, class of 1943 and retired as a purchasing agent with Standard Slag in 1987 after 35 years of service.

Alma was a member of the Heritage Presbyterian Church.

Alma leaves her daughter and son-in-law, Linda and David Evans of Canfield; three nieces, Deb (Aaron) Stanley of Indiana, Pa., Patti (Doug) McCombs of Volant, Pa. and Susan (Bruce) Krobusek of Farmington, N.Y.

Besides her parents, Alma was preceded in death by one sister, Hilda Bell.

Virgil Rakes, 79

LEETONIA – Virgil Rakes, 79, of 146 Oak St., died at 11:07 a.m. Monday at Salem Community Hospital.

Mr. Rakes was born June 2, 1930 in Bearwallow, Va., a son of the late Henry and Cosby Day Rakes and had lived in this area most of his life coming from Mansfield.

He had worked in the fabricating plant for General Motors in Lordstown, retiring in October of 1994. He had served in the U.S. Army.

He was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Leetonia. Virgil was a devoted family man who loved his wife, children and grandchildren and great grandchildren. He enjoyed carving handmade wooden crosses.

Mr. Rakes is survived by his wife of 57 years, the former Carmella Garzaniti; seven daughters, Toni (Ron) Townsley of Willis, Mich., Pat (Roger) Edgell of Columbiana, Rose (Harry) Shukait of Ypsilanti, Mich., Reva (Roger) Kugler of Salem, Donna (Brian Hoover) St. Clair of Lisbon, Sharon (Tim) McKenzie of Berlin Center and Andrea (Randy) Fast of Salem; a sister, Laurie (Allen) Click of New Hall, W.Va.; 14 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Virgil was preceded in death by three sisters, Belle Rakes, Hazel Beavers and Hattie Rakes.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at the St. Patrick’s Catholic Church with the Reverend Thomas Eisweirth officiating.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Woods-Rettig Funeral Home in Leetonia. Burial will follow at the Mount Calvary Cemetery, where military honors will be provided by the Salem Amvets and the V.F.W. Honor Guard.

Robert D. Rhoads, 84

LIBERTY TOWNSHIP – Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the Lane Funeral Home, Austintown Chapel for Robert D. Rhoads, 84, who passed away Tuesday at Liberty Healthcare.

Bob was born June 21, 1925, in Youngstown, the son of Herbert C. Rhoads and Mabel (Jenkins) Rhoads.

He was a 1943 graduate of South High School in Youngstown. Bob also was a 1949 graduate from Youngstown College, where he received his bachelors degree in business with an accounting major.

He was a World War II veteran, serving in the Army Air Force. He retired from Commercial Intertech where he had been a Corporate Controller and Assistant Treasurer. Robert was the past president in 1965 of the National Association of Accountants. He also was a former board member of the Rescue Mission of Mahoning County, the Salvation Army, Junior Achievement and Volunteer Service to Seniors.

Robert is survived by his wife, the former Gwendolyn Martin, whom he married Sept. 16, 1950. He also leaves four children, Kathleen (Larry) Fellows of Mineral Ridge, Aimee (Tim) Hum of Canfield, Robert D. Rhoads Jr. and Matthew M. (Susan) Rhoads of Struthers. Bob also leaves 17 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.

Besides his parents, Robert was preceded in death by a daughter Melanie Gravelle and three brothers Howard, Edwin and Grant Rhoads.

Faye Silverman, 97

CANTON – Faye Silverman, 97, formerly of Youngstown, died at Windsor Medical Center on Oct. 20, 2009.

She was born on Nov. 1, 1911 in Cleveland to the late Lisa and Harry Weltman.

In addition to her parents, Faye was preceded in death by her husband of over 70 years, Sidney J. Silverman; and her sister, Sophie Kyman.

She is survived by her daughter Diane Silverman Blocker (William) of Canton and Lloyd B. Silverman (Susan) of Plantation, Fla. She also is survived by grandsons, Aric (Andrea) Kinast, Hugh (Elisha) Kinast and Robert Kinast; and granddaughters, Hollis Silverman and Samantha Silverman; step granddaughters, Indee (Samuel) Freas and Rachel (Joseph) Tralongo; great-grandsons, Benjamin Kinast and Samuel Kinast; step great-grandsons, Joseph Tralongo Jr., Anthony Tralongo, Zion Tralongo, Aaron Tralongo and Samuel Freas IV; and step great-grandaughter, Skyler Freas. She is also survived by a cousin, Teresa (Ron) Terry; two nephews, Jerry (Judy) Florman and Larry (Phyllis) Florman; and many great-nephews, great-nieces and cousins.

Faye’s family was her life’s work. She also devoted countless hours doing community service as a member of Federation, where she was part of the Jewish Council for Community Relations. She was a member of Temple Rodef Sholom, where her husband was president and where she was active in Sisterhood, and as a member of Hadassah.

Services will be held in the Chapel at Todd Cemetery, 2200 Belmont Ave. in Youngstown on Thursday, Oct. 22, 2009, at 2 p.m.

ATLANTA – Ms. Vivian L. Spencer, 95, a longtime church leader and elder, died Oct. 17, 2009, at Altus House Hospice Facility in Atlanta of natural causes.

She was born in Marion on Feb. 8, 1914, to the late Floyd and Myrtle Johnson and was married to the late James R. Spencer, formerly of Youngstown and Tamarac, Fla.

She leaves two sons, Ronald R. Spencer of Woodstock, Ga. and Bill L. Spencer of Roswell, Ga.; 10 grandchildren; 22 great-granchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Jack C. Spencer of Youngstown.

She was an active member of the South United Presbyterian Church, the John Knox Presbyterian Church of Youngstown, the Peace United Presbyterian Church, the Faith United Church of Christ of Tamarac and the Roswell Presbyterian Church of Roswell.

A memorial service will be held at the Roswell Presbyterian Church on Saturday, Oct. 24, 2009, at 11 a.m., followed by a family reception at the church Narthex.

In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be made to the Roswell Presbyterian Church, 755 Mimosa Blvd., Roswell, GA 30075, in memory of Vivain Lanell Spencer.

John Timko, 88

MINERAL RIDGE – Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday at the Lane Funeral Home, Mineral Ridge Chapel for John TImko, 88, formerly of Ohltown-McDonald Road, who died early Tuesday morning at Briarfield at the Ridge.

John was born Jan. 2, 1921 in Pittsburgh, the son of the late George and JoAnna (Halko) Timko.

He retired in 1980 from U.S. Steel-McDonald Works, where he had been a furnace operator. Prior to entering the U.S. Navy, where he served during World War II, he attended CCC Camp in Montana. He was a member of the V.F.W. in Mineral Ridge, enjoyed woodworking, fishing, and golf.

John is survived by his wife, the former Betty Smith, whom he married June 30, 1945.

He leaves three children, John G. (Chicki) Timko of Mineral Ridge, Gary L. Timko of Mineral Ridge and Wendy S. Lawrence of Niles. He leaves a sister, Dorothy (Arnold) Danes of Warren; a brother, Nick (Ann) Timko of California; seven grandchildren, Christine (Bill) Holland, Jennifer TImko, John Michael (Andrea) Timko, Brent Timko, Jeffery (Jackie) Lawrence, Ryan (Ursula) Lawrence and Mark Lawrence; and six great-grandchildren, Gregory and Emily Holland, Katelyn and Alex Lawrence and Taylor and Ryley Lawrence.

John was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Katherine Wiery; two brothers, Frank and Mike Timko; and a granddaughter, Amy Lawrence.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday.

Julia A. Williams, 87

HUBBARD – There will be a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Patrick Catholic Church on Thursday, Oct. 22, 2009, at 1:30 p.m. for Julia A. Williams, 87, who passed away Monday at Sharon Regional Health System.

Julia was born May 26, 1922, in Hubbard, a daughter of Guy and Minnie Scarpine Williams and was a lifelong Hubbard resident.

She was a 1940 graduate of Hubbard High School and was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church. For more than 40 years, she was a clerk at American Hardware in Hubbard, and was known and counted upon throughout the community for her expertise in all things hardware related.

Julia was passionate about family and family tradition, and in her spare time, loved cooking, gardening, knitting and crocheting.

She leaves her sister, Rosemary Williams, with whom she made her home; her brother, Dan (Ann) Williams; and sister-in-law, Jeannette Williams, all of Hubbard. She also leaves several nieces and nephews; great-nieces and great-nephews; and great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Nick Williams, Jim Williams, Lou Williams and Mike Williams; and her sister, Theresa Palumbo.

There are no calling hours.

Burial will be at Hubbard Union Cemetery.

Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care of the Stewart-Kyle Funeral Home.
