Jeffrey L. Anderson, 52
BURGHILL Jeffrey L. Anderson, 52, died Sunday, Oct. 25, 2009, at his residence. The coroner is investigating the cause of death.
He was born Jan. 21, 1957, in Pittsburgh, the son of Donald R. and Charline (Rea) Anderson, and had lived in Trumbull County most of his life.
A graduate of Newton Falls High School, Jeff also studied in the electrical program at the New Castle School of Trades. He had worked as a tool & die maker for Bliss Manufacturing in Newton Falls and Plastech Industries in Cleveland. A private pilot, he enjoyed flying, gardening, and going to the gun range.
Surviving is his mother, Charline Anderson of Burghill; his beloved son, Owen Anderson of Burghill; and a sister, Sarah (Howard) Kahler of Burghill.
Preceding him in death was his father and the love of his life, Danielle De LaGrange.
Services are private.
Cremation is taking place.

WARREN Sarah Bethea, 89, of 1597 Parkman Road NW, departed this life Friday, Oct. 23, 2009, at 5:38 a.m. at Forum Health Northside Medical Center, following an extended illness.
She was born March 8, 1920 in Rockingham, N.C., the daughter of Seymour and Ellen Smith Covington, residing here with her granddaughter, Brenda Williams, for three years, coming from New York.
Mrs. Bethea was self employed as a domestic worker for many years, before retiring.
She was a member of the Baptist faith.
She leaves to mourn one daughter, Mrs. Drusilla (Alfred) Williams of Youngstown; a granddaughter, she raised, Dorothy (Michael) McKoy of South Carolina; 15 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; 30 great-great-grandchildren; and a host of relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Willie James Bethea; two daughters, Blondell Lundy and Willie Mae Bethea; four brothers; and two sisters.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, Oct. 31, 2009, at 10:30 a.m. at the Sterling-McCullough Williams Youngstown Funeral Chapel.
Calling hours will be one half hour prior to service (10-10:30 a.m.)
Burial will be at Belmont Park Cemetery.
James R. Brown Sr., 90
BERLIN CENTER Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Lane Funeral Home, Austintown Chapel for James R. Brown Sr., 90, who died Tuesday evening at the Hospice House.
Jim was born Jan. 3, 1919, in Ellsworth, the son of Harry and Helen (Donahue) Brown.
Jim was the owner operator of Jim Brown & Son Excavating for over 30 years, retiring in 1990. Prior to operating his own business, Jim was a foreman for DeLauter Coal Company in North Lima.
He was a member of the Ellsworth Presbyterian Church, where he served as a trustee for many years. Jim was also a member of Argus Lodge F&AM and the Youngstown Shrine Club. He served on the grounds committee of Camp Stambaugh, Boy Scout Camp, where he received the Silver Beaver Award. Jim also served two terms on the Mahoning County Board of Health.
One thing Jim will always be remembered for, was his generosity and willingness to help those in need.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Pearl (Wodianka) Brown, whom he married May 8, 1941; daughter, Carol Evans of Palm Beach, Fla.; and son, James R. (Sandie) Brown Jr. of Berlin Center. He is also survived by four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Harold and Gene; and his sister, Harriett Bowman.

Josephine Elizabeth Cox, 95
BOARDMAN Josephine Elizabeth Cox, 95, formerly of Youngstown, died early Wednesday morning at Shepherd of the Valley.
Mrs. Cox was born Nov. 16, 1913 in Braddock, Pa., a daughter of William and Anna Maisch Patterson.
She was a 1932 graduate of Struthers High School and worked at Papalias Grocery Store in Struthers and Wittenauers Pharmacy in Struthers, Poland and Boardman. Mrs. Cox was also nursemaid for several years. After retirement, Mrs. Cox volunteered at the Southside Hospital Gift Shop.
She is a member of the Christ Lutheran Church in Struthers.
Her husband, Thomas Edward Cox, whom she married Jan. 15, 1936, died Oct. 19, 1959.
She leaves three daughters, Beverly Wiesensee of Struthers, Peggy (Lennie) Hall, with whom she made her home for 33 years, and Linda T. J. Weckerly of Hanceville, Ala.; one son, Tommy (Chris) Cox of Springfield; 11 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and her dog and sweetheart, Molly.
Besides her parents and husband, Mrs. Cox was preceded in death by one sister, Ethel Scott; one brother, Allen Patterson; and two grandchildren, Patricia and Robert Beard.
Friends will be received Friday from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Davidson-Becker Funeral Home and Saturday from 10 to 10:45 a.m. at the Good Hope Lutheran Church.
Services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Good Hope Lutheran Church, with Pastor Robert Quaintance officiating. Interment will follow at the Lake Park Cemetery in Youngstown.

Virginia married Tony Dercoli on July 9, 1949, and he passed away on Nov. 3, 1980.
She leaves one sister, Evelyn Rekdahl of Los Angeles; three nephews, Mark, Christoper and Mitchell; and one brother-in-law, Harold Walker.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; two brothers, John and William Brandozzi; and one sister, Mary Walker.

George Lewis Gindratt, 75
STRUTHERS Memorial services will be held Saturday, Oct. 31, 2009, at 4 p.m. at the Pilgrim Baptist Church in Struthers, for Mr. George Lewis Gindratt, 75, who departed this life Sunday, Oct. 25, 2009, at his home.
Mr. Gindratt was born March 7, 1934 in Pittsburgh, a son of Joseph Lewis and Willa Mae Mitchell Gindratt.
He worked 34 years for the street department with the City of Struthers, retiring 1990. He was a member of the Pilgrim Baptist Church and its choir. He also had helped in the actual construction of the Pilgrim Baptist Church. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and bowling. He was an avid Cleveland Browns football fan and was an Air Force veteran.
He leaves to cherish his precious memory, his beloved wife of 53 years, the former Nevora Williams, whom he married Feb. 19, 1956; three grandchildren, whom he reared, Brice Gindratt and Tyzell Martin, both of Struthers, and Druce Martin of Warren; five great-grandchildren; his sister, Arletha Switchie Fort of Youngstown; and a host of nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Rebecca Martin; a brother, Joseph Gindratt; and two sisters, Ethel Pruden and Susie Gindratt.

YOUNGSTOWN Services will be Friday, Oct. 30, 2009, at the Calvary Ministries International for Justise Emanuel Hairston Jr., 10, who made a touchdown in heaven on Saturday, Oct. 24, 2009, at Akron Childrens Hospital in Boardman.
Justise, lovingly known as J-Man, was born, Nov. 5, 1998, in Youngstown, a son of Justise E. Hairston Sr. and Alicia Gayles.
He was a 5th grade student at Williamson Elementary School. An avid New England Patriots football fan, Justise, whose jersey number was No. 1, played football with the Sons of Thunder Little League Football Team and loved to play the video game John Madden Football.
He will forever be remembered by his father, Justise E. Hairston Sr; his mother and stepfather, Alicia and John Forester, all of Youngstown; two brothers, Jeremia Harris and John Forester; three sisters, Marlecia Parker, Harmonie Forester and Snow Fall Hairston; grandparents, Dina Bell, Robinnetta Brady and Calvin Hairston; great-grandparents, Ruby Ward, Ruby A. Cheatham and John Bell; and a host of family and friends.
He was greeted in heaven by his grandfathers, Robert L. Teague and Rev. Alfred Ward.

HUNTINGTON BEACH, CALIF. George E. Harris, 57, passed away on Oct. 13, 2009, at his residence from a heart attack.
He was born in Warren on March 23, 1952, the son of George E. and Pauline M. (Logar) Harris, and lived in California since 1982.
He was a supervisor and department manager at Home Depot. A graduate of Niles McKinley High School, he was a fan of the Cleveland Browns, Ohio State Buckeyes and the Niles Red Dragons.
George is survived by his wife, Pearl (Romancik) Harris, whom he married on Aug. 5, 1972; two sons, Christopher Harris and Brian (Janelle) Harris, all of Huntington Beach; mother, Pauline M. (Logar) Harris of Niles; brother, William (Brenda) Harris of Mineral Ridge; two sisters, Martha (Tim) Johnson of Niles and Linda (James) Pappada of Niles; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, George E. Harris on Dec. 1, 1997.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, Nov. 7, 2009, at 10 a.m. at St. Stephen Church in Niles. The Rev. Thomas Kraszewski will be the celebrant.

POLAND There will be a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Charles Church, celebrated by Father Shawn Conoboy for Anne B. Herman, 88, formerly of Boardman, who passed away Wednesday morning at Sunrise Assisted Living of Poland.
Mrs. Herman was born May 27, 1921 in Youngstown, a daughter of James and Mary Buchman Dundon, and was a lifelong area resident.
She was a 1939 graduate of South High School and had attended Youngstown State University.
She was a secretary for the Metallurgical Department of Republic Steel for 15 years and had worked for Mahoning Valley Supply for four years.
She was a member of the church and the Happy Day Senior Citizens at the Bethel Lutheran Church.
Besides her husband, John, whom she married April 25, 1959, she leaves a niece, Mary Ann Marshall of Youngstown; a nephew, Ken Schulz of Youngstown; two great-nieces, Karen and Cheryl; and two great-great-nieces.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Alice Schulz; a brother, James Dundon; and a nephew, John Schulz.

NEW FRANKEN, WIS. Prayers will be held Saturday at 9:30 a.m. at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home, Poland Chapel, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at the Holy Family Church for Philomena Pellitta Liguore, 88, formerly of Poland, who peacefully passed into eternal life on Oct. 26, 2009, at Annas House in New Franken.
She was born on Nov. 20, 1920, in Rotondella (Matera), Italy, the daughter of Guiseppe Pellitta and Maria Fortunato Pellitta.
On July 20, 1944, she married the love of her life, Harry E. Liguore. They were married for 55 years and shared the love of music, dancing and large family gatherings filled with laughter and her unmatched Italian cooking.
She attended the Youngstown College of Business, was a photographer, and operated Liguore Studio of Photography from the late 1960s until her retirement in 1984.
She was a member of the Sacred Heart League and the Legion of Mary and served as a Eucharistic Minister at both St. Patrick Church in Youngstown and the Holy Family Parish in Poland.
Philomena was predeceased by her parents; her husband, Harry; a sister, Terri Melnick; and two brothers, Antonio and Joseph Pellitta.
She will be sadly missed by her children, Harry Liguore (Adrianne) of El Paso, Texas, Louis Liguore (Loretta) of Poland and Attorney Maryann Liguore (Dr. Vladimir Swerchowsky) of Denmark, Wis.; her brother-in-law, Al Melnick (Olga); her 11 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and her many nieces and nephews.
The family will be receiving friends Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Michael Luciw, 63
RICHMOND, VA. Michael Luciw, 63, passed away on Oct. 21, 2009 after a long illness.
He was born in Villach, Austria to Ukrainian parents and immigrated to the United States in 1951.
He was very proud of his Ukrainian heritage and participated in many Ukrainian cultural activities.
He is survived by his wife, Olga of 39 years; sons Michael and Gregory of Richmond; two sisters; and two brothers.
He worked for Baskervill & Sons, Hanover Engineers, and was a member of the American Society of Plumbing Engineers. He was one of the founding members of the Tidewater Ukrainian American Cultural Society and served as Humanitarian Aid Director. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Catholic Church in Richmond.
Private services were held in Youngstown, Ohio.

William C. McKenzie, 71
NEW WATERFORD Services will be held at noon on Saturday at the First Presbyterian Church of Columbiana at 28 East Park Ave. in Columbiana, for William C. McKenzie, 71, who passed away Tuesday evening at Hospice House.
William was born on Oct. 17, 1938 in Youngstown, the son of William S. and Rosemarie (Elick) McKenzie.
He was a 1957 graduate of Austintown Fitch High School.
He served an apprenticeship in Youngstown to become a Plumber and Pipefitter, and he was employed with the Local 367 Plumber and Pipefitter Union in Anchorage, Alaska, retiring in 2000. Bill was an Army veteran, serving during the Vietnam era.
He was a member of the American Legion Post No. 1 in Anchorage for many years. He was an avid sports fan, fisherman and hunter.
William enjoyed spending time with his family. Bill was well known in Anchorage for his great sense of humor.
William is survived by a brother, Daniel (Joyce) McKenzie of New Waterford; and also a sister, Maureen Meehan of Burleson, Texas. He also leaves several nieces and nephews, Frank Gorichky of Salem, Kerry (Brad) Goodballet of East Liverpool, Andrew (Jolene) McKenzie of Cranberry Township, Pa., Christine (Kevin) Watson of New Waterford, Michael McKenzie of Lisbon and Deron Meehan of Burleson. William also leaves many great-nieces and great-nephews.
Besides his parents, William was preceded in death by a brother, Mark A. McKenzie.

YOUNGSTOWN Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 10 a.m. at the Vaschak-Kirila Funeral Home for Peter Radakovich, 91, who entered into Gods rest Tuesday morning at Meridian Arms Living Center.
Mr. Radakovich was born Aug. 12, 1918, in Stara Krstlja, Yugoslavia.
He and his wife Hanna were married Oct. 11, 1947, and came to Youngstown in 1949.
Peter was a plumbing contractor and co-founder of Continental Plumbing Co., where he worked for 25 years, retiring in 1985. Peter was a member of the Martin Luther Lutheran Church since 1953. He was also a member of Local 396 of the Plumbers and Pipefitters Union and a longtime member of the Youngstown Maennerchor Club. Peter enjoyed traveling with Hanna, family and bowling.
Peter will be sadly missed by many, including a sister; a niece and nephew in Serbia; two nephews, Werner Frenzel of Youngstown and Dieter Frenzel of Lake Milton; a niece, Evelyn Crain of Garland, Texas; and godchildren, Peter Pavlichich, Suzy Montecalvo and Marianne Rinehart.
Besides his parents, Peter was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Hanna; and brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Kurt and Elisabeth Schlosske.

Mr. Smith was delivery manager for the Review Newspapers for 15 years. Prior to this, he had worked for General Motors. John enjoyed playing his guitar and played in many area bands.
He leaves his wife, the former Betty McMillen, whom he married March 29, 1982; two sons, Wayne (Gabriella) Smith of San Diego and Joshua Smith of Youngstown; two daughters, Wendy McCreary of Bristolville and Brandy Smith of Youngstown; and four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.

Her greatest joy was her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and she will be greatly missed by all of them.
Gloria leaves two sons, Ronald (Jennifer) Summerville of Lancaster and Gary (Jennifer) Summerville of Reynoldsville; three daughters, Tina Magallon of Poland, Michelle Snyder of Struthers and Paula Summerville of Struthers; one brother, Ronnie Frazzini of Canfield; one sister, Catherine (J.T.) McKinney of Texas; 10 grandchildren, Paul, Kara, Robert, and Stephanie Magallon, Tony Summerville, Ashley Herring, Brandon and Kiera Summerville, Bryce Summerville and Alyssa Opincar; and eight great-grandchildren.
Gloria was preceded in death by two grandchildren, Paul Jeffrey Snyder and Mikey Summerville; four brothers, Sam, Robert, Joe and Rudy Frazzini; a sister Anna Popovich; and an infant sister, Donna Jean Frazzini.

Minnie Ethel (McCray) Coleman Underwood
SEATTLE Minnie Ethel (McCray) Coleman Underwood, 66, formerly of Youngstown, went home to be with the Lord on April 30, 2009.
She was born on Oct. 29, 1942 in St. Matthew, S.C., the only child of Isiah McCray and the former Bernice Murph and moved to Youngstown as a young child.
She attended Harding Business College and Choffin School of Practical Nursing. She worked for years as a domestic worker, which later proved to aid her as CEO of her own cleaning business Clean Rite.
Minnie was baptized in Jesus name as a child and received the Holy Ghost while in Youngstown. She was a former member of Calvary Ministry International and was affiliated with other churches.
She moved to Seattle in 1995 to be near her younger daughters. She was a member of Full Gospel Pentecostal Federated in Seattle, pastored by Bishop S.D. Leffall. She was known for her love of writing songs and poems that had a uncommon message. Many of her songs and poems appealed to the inner man to seek for true worship toward the Lord Jesus Christ. Minnie loved to dress, decorate and to create unique crafts. She was very giving and would give her last to anyone in need. She was a volunteer in her community, both in Youngstown and Seattle.
She is survived by seven children, Carlo, Starlene Denise, Keith, Venita, Bernice Kimberly, Sonya and Marcia Lavette; 27 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; special aunts, Mabel and Ola Mae; cousins, May, Ann, Pearlie Mae and Raymond; and a host of other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Burial was held in Seattle.

He is survived by his mother, Mrs. Betty L. Walker of Youngstown; a companion, Darlene McFadden; eight children, Lisa Clarke of Dayton, Marvin Jr., Dondewan, Marnique, Joylene, Shawnysa and Mariah Walker and a stepson, Kevin McFadden, all of Baltimore; eight siblings, Robert (Sherry) Walker Jr., Brenda (Melvin) Rushton, Evelyn (Vincent) McLendon, Carol (David) Freeman Sr. and Loretta Walker of Youngstown, Carl (Barbara) and Olivia Walker of Cincinnati and Theresa Manigault of Los Angeles; 14 grandchildren; and a former wife, Marcia Walker.
He was preceded in death by his twin sister, Mary J. Walker and his father, Robert Walker Sr.
