Pasquale L. Amabile Jr., 81
NEW CASTLE, PA. Pasquale L. Amabile Jr., 81, of E. Home Street, died Friday, Oct. 30, 2009, at Golden Hill Nursing Home.
He was born Jan. 4, 1928, in New Castle, Pa., a son of the late Pasquale and Marie (Vaturra) Amabile.
He married Agnes (Coiro) Amabile on Nov. 26, 1955, she survives in New Castle.
Mr. Amabile retired from the Johnson Bronze as a machine operator after 32 years. He also worked for Local No. 964 for many years. Mr. Amabile was an Army veteran of World War II, serving in the Pacific Theater. He was a member of the VFW, Sons of Italy, the Casa Savoy Club and the Unione Calabro Americana Society. Mr. Amabile also enjoyed playing bocci, wine making, gardening and riding his bicycle.
He is survived by three daughters, Maria DeRosa and her husband, James of Boardman, Angela Cotelesse and her husband, Chip and Toni DePorzio and her husband, Greg, all of New Castle; five sons, Michael Amabile and wife, Maryann of New Castle, Carmine Amabile and partner, Doug of Youngstown, Leonard Amabile and wife, Bo of New Castle, Norman Amabile and wife, Anita of Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif. and Pasquale Amabile and wife, Adrian of New Castle; one brother, Carmen Amabile of New Castle; three sisters, Margaret Delliquadri of New Castle, Gloria Stanfield of New Rochelle, N.Y. and Theresa Macri of Pittsburgh; 18 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Lawrence, Tony and Italy Amabile and two sisters, Grace DiCaprio and Rose Amabile.
Visitation will be held at the William F. & Roger M. DeCarbo Funeral Home on Sunday, Nov. 1, 2009, from 4 to 8 p.m.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, Nov. 2, 2009, at 11:30 a.m. at St. Vitus Church. Father James Gretz of St. Vitus Church will be officiating. A funeral procession will leave the funeral home at 11 a.m.
Burial will be at St. Vitus Cemetery. The New Castle Area Honor Guard will perform a Military Funeral Service at the cemetery.

Aurora F. Carnino, 84
YOUNGSTOWN Aurora F. Carnino, 84, formerly of Brookfield, passed away on Friday, Oct. 30, 2009, at 4:30 a.m. at Omni Manor.
Mrs. Carnino was born on Oct. 5, 1925 in Sharon, Pa. to Nicholas A. and Florence (Albu) Crishon.
She married Louis M. Carnino on June 14, 1947, and together they shared more than 24 of marriage.
She was a 1942 graduate of Hickory High School, and was a graduate of the Shenango Valley Commercial School in Sharon, Pa. Mrs. Carnino worked as a clerk for the Trumbull County Eastern District Court for more than 23 years.
She was a member of the Brookfield- Masury Womens Club, the Brookfield Garden Club, and the American Business Womens Association Sharon/Hickory Chapter. Aurora was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Roman Catholic Church in Vienna, where she had been a former member of the altar and rosary societies.
Mrs. Carnino is survived by her four daughters, Karyn S. Carnino of Piqua, Christine L. Kijowski and her husband, James of Hubbard, Janine M. Carnino of Jacksonville, Fla. and Jonnah F. Hetzel and her husband, Gary of Cortland; a sister, Dolores Idomir of Austin, Texas; 10 grandchildren; and also surviving are seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband on July 21, 1971; two brothers, George Crishon and Romuel Crishon; and her three sisters, Clementine Burton, Marie Roscoe, and Olympia Choban.
Calling hours will be held on Sunday evening from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Lane Funeral Homes, Madasz Chapel in Brookfield.
Closing prayers will begin at 8:45 a.m. at the funeral home on Monday, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial being held at 9:30 a.m. at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Vienna, with the Rev. Frank Zanni, the Rev. Msgr. William Connell and the Rev. Richard Whetstone as con celebrants. Burial will follow at St. Michaels Byzantine Catholic Cemetery in Hermitage, Pa.

Joseph V. Ciavarella, 83
POLAND A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1 p.m. Monday at the Holy Family Church, and prayers offered at 12:30 p.m. at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home, Poland Chapel for Joseph V. Ciavarella, 83, who died early Friday morning at Masternick Memorial in New Middletown.
Joseph was born July 30, 1926, in Youngstown to the late Angelo and Mary (Fratino) Ciavarella.
Joseph was a graduate of East High School, where he played the trumpet, and he earned his Bachelor degree from Youngstown State University. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving as an Radio Man on the USS Europa Sea during World War II.
Joe was a charter member of the Holy Family Church and he was a Past Grand Knight in the Knights of Columbus Council No. 4471. He was a avid golfer and enjoyed playing cards and Bridge.
He was a cost analyst with Republic Steel and later LTV Steel for over 40 years. He served on the Board of Directors for the Republic Steel Credit Union. He was also an independent tax preparer with his own company, Ciavarella Tax Service.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Anthony; brothers and sisters-in-law, Louis (Martha) Ciavarella and Frank (Cathy) Ciavarella.
He is survived by his wife of over 61 years, the former Pauline Hlay, whom he married May 29, 1948. He also leaves four sons, Robert (Deborah) of Aurora, Thomas (Annie) of Poland, Gary (Patsy) of Poland and Paul (Kimberly) of Poland; a brother, Michael (Angie) Ciavarella of Poland; four grandchildren, Daniel of Phoenix, Timothy of Ravenna, Nikki of Poland and Christopher of Poland; three step-grandchildren, Kenneth, Joe and Mike Posey; and a great-granddaughter, Lily.
Friends may call Sunday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Burial at Poland Riverside Cemetery.

Fred Diamond, 67
GIRARD Fred Diamond, 67, passed away Thursday, Oct. 29, 2009, at the Hospice House.
Frederick was born in Youngstown on Sept. 8, 1942, the son of the late George J and Dorothy P (Patton) Diamond.
He worked for Hills Department S tore, and the Ohio Bureau of Employment Services. He was a member of St. Rose Church, and served in the U.S. Airforce during Vietnam.
He is survived by his sons, Jim (Gina) Diamond of Howland and Doug Diamond of Houston; a daughter, Tammy Tolin of Houston; a sister, Kitty Diamond of Girard; a brother, George Diamond of Niles; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Edward and William and a grandson.
Material contributions can be made to the Hospice House or the American Heart Association, in memory of Fred.

Geraldine May Gerry Hoskins, 67
CHAMPION Geraldine May Gerry Hoskins, 67, died Thursday , Oct. 29, 2009, at St. Joseph Health Center in Warren.
She was born March 16, 1942 in Pittsfield, Mass., the daughter of John and Virginia (Hudgins) Waters, moving here in 1960 from Hampton, Va.
Mrs. Hoskins retired from Packard Electric in 1996. Her hobbies included crafts, puzzles and snowmobiling.
Surviving is her husband, Harry of Champion, whom she married June 11, 1960; a daughter, Theresa (Gene) White of Binghamton, N.Y.; two sons, Garry (Carrie) Hoskins of Atwater and Jeffrey (Samantha) Hoskins of Champion; five grandchildren, Heather White, Garry Hoskins, Erica Hoskins, Zachery Hoskins and Jeffrey Follmeyer; and a sister, Jean (William) Glenn of Hampton.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a granddaughter, Bethany Marie White; and three brothers, Lawrence Waters, Richard Waters and Thomas Howell.
A service of celebration will be conducted at 3:30 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 1, 2009 at the McFarland & Son Funeral Home, with Mark Latimer officiating.
Friends may call from 2 to 3 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Michael Luciw, 63
RICHMOND, VA. Michael Luciw, 63, passed away on Oct. 21, 2009 after a long illness.
He was born in Villach, Austria to Ukrainian parents and immigrated to the United States in 1951.
He was very proud of his Ukrainian heritage and participated in many Ukrainian cultural activities.
He is survived by his wife, Olga of 39 years; sons Michael and Gregory of Richmond; two sisters; and two brothers.
He worked for Baskervill & Sons, Hanover Engineers, and was a member of the American Society of Plumbing Engineers. He was one of the founding members of the Tidewater Ukrainian American Cultural Society and served as Humanitarian Aid Director. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Catholic Church in Richmond.
Private services were held in Youngstown, Ohio.
Arrangements were by Kinnick Funeral Home in Youngstown.
Arlie Verne Shriver, 88
NILES - Funeral services will be held Monday, Nov. 2, 2009, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Curtis A. Miller officiating at the Robert P. McDermott Memorial Home, for Arlie Verne Shriver, 88, formerly of Mineral Ridge, who died Friday, Oct. 30, 2009, at 6:10 a.m. at Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Home in Niles.
Mr. Shriver was born July 13, 1921, in Apollo, Pa., a son of Marlin and Sadie Munson Shriver.
A member of the First United Methodist Church of Mineral Ridge, he had been employed by the RMI Corporation as a Supervisor in flat products. An employee for 31 years, he retired May 31, 1985. He was also a member of the Youngstown Shrine Club and the William McKinley Masonic Lodge No. 794 F & AM.
He enjoyed hunting , fishing, and the time spent with his grandchildren. He was a U.S. Navy World War II veteran and part of the Normandy Invasion.
His wife, the former Thelma Yvonne Langham, whom he married July 25, 1945, preceded him in death on Aug. 31, 2006.
He was also preceded in death by two brothers and five sisters.
Survivors include his sons, Robert A. and his wife, Lois of Niles and Richard A. and his wife, Sandi of Girard; his daughters, Denise R. Lopes, and her husband, David of Niles and Miss Andrea E. Shriver of Kinsman; a brother, Robert of Lordstown; eight grandchildren, Shelley, Leslie, Jason, Shawn, Michelle, Ashley, David and Justin; and six great-grandchildren, John, Michael, Jake, Zach, Scarlett and Sage.
Friends may call Sunday, Nov. 1, 2009 from 1 to 4 p.m. at the funeral home, where the William McKinley Lodge No. 794 F & AM will hold services at 3:45 p.m.
Burial will be at Kerr Cemetery, where Mr. Shriver will be honored for his service to our country by the Trumbull County American Legion Honor Guard.

Eugenia Mae Storey, 81
BOARDMAN There will be funeral services at 11 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 2, at the Rossi Brothers & Lellio Funeral Home in Boardman, with Pastor Bret Rizzo of the Bethel Lutheran Church, celebrating for Eugenia Mae Storey, 81, who passed away Thursday morning, Oct. 29.
Eugenia was born May 29, 1928, in Coshocton, the daughter of Mason S. and Ella Mae Duhl Williams.
She was retired from Grays Drug Store. Eugenia attended the Bethel Lutheran Church in Boardman. She enjoyed playing bingo and doing crossword puzzles in her spare time. Eugenia loved to paint and was a member of the Heart of Ohio Tole Painting Society, most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family.
She will always be remembered by her husband, Howard V. Storey, whom she married April 10, 1947; her daughter, Terry (George) Stanko of Detroit; her son, Todd W. Storey of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.; grandchildren, Howard Thomas Storey Jr., Kimberly Baker, George John Stanko III, Michele and Mari; great-grandchildren, Brittany, Briana, Jamison, George J. IV and Zach; sister, Patricia Beach of Austintown; and brother, Mason Williams of California.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Howard Thomas Storey.

Carole Jean Weir, 70
AUSTINTOWN A prayer service will be held Monday at 9:15 a.m. at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home, Austintown Chapel followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Christine Church. The Rev. Bernard Schmalzried will be concelebrating with Msgr. David Rhodes and the Rev. Terence Hazel for Carole Jean Weir, 70, who passed away Wednesday morning at St. Elizabeth Boardman Health Center.
Carole was born Dec. 12, 1938 in Youngstown, the youngest daughter of James A. and Thelma Whelpdale Murphy. She had been a lifelong resident.
Carole was a 1957 graduate of Ursuline High School. She attended Youngstown State University and Ursuline College.
Prior to starting her family, Carole was a keypunch operator for Republic Steel. She raised her family, went back to college earned her degree, to then became a teachers aid at Leonard Kirtz School.
She was an active member of St. Christine Church, RCIA and The Youngstown Maennerchor. She loved to play 500 and was a member of the Jolly 8s 500 Club. Carole was a foster parent to 24 children.
She took great pleasure in sewing, painting, quilting and cooking. But her best-loved past time was enjoying her children and grandchildren.
Carole was legendry for her incredible stuffed cabbage, pumpkin stew, perogies, spaghetti sauce and breads. She will always be fondly remembered for her generosity and beautiful spirit.
Her husband, Joseph A. Weir, whom she married Feb. 27, 1960, passed away May 14, 1996.
She will be sadly missed by her seven children, Linda (Roland) Messing, Colleen (Steve) Biroschak, Kathy (Cy) Mikolaj, Karen Grope, Joseph (Korriena) Weir, Michael (Nadine) Weir and Maureen (Robert) Holloway; three sisters, Donna Holtzman of Florida, Adele Vonu of Florida and Marie DeMarinis, 20 grandchildren, Katelynne, Kameron, Krista, Kelly, Stephen, Nicole, Michelle, Angel, Ashley, Melissa, Lauren, Casandra, Kourtney, Joey, Jennifer, Michelle, Victoria, Brianna, Bobby and Brooke; and one great-granddaughter, Kayli; as well as many nieces and nephews. Her family extended to close friends of whom she always welcomed with great food and company.
Besides her parents and husband, Carole was preceded in death by two children, Michelle and Patricia Weir; and a brother, Charles Murphy.
The family will be receiving friends Sunday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home in Austintown.

Burial will take place at Calvary Cemetery immediately following the Mass at St Christines.
