Debbie Ann Zetts Dalrymple, 46

WILLIAMSBURG, VA. – Debbie Ann Zetts Dalrymple, 46, a longtime resident of Williamsburg, passed away unexpectedly on Oct. 31, 2009.

Debbie was a graduate of Youngstown State University and earned her Master’s Degree from East Carolina University in North Carolina.

She was formerly employed by Kent State University and East Carolina University Medical School, researching the brain with an emphasis on the hippocampus. She was currently employed as an adjunct professor at Thomas Nelson Community College.

Debbie was an active member in the Williamsburg United Methodist Church, where she was the Sunday school superintendent and assisted with Vacation Bible School.

She was a member of the P.T.A. and developed the Clara Byrd Baker Elementary School yearbook for the past three years. She was a member of the Science and Technology Board of the James City County School System. She was a member of the Phi Mu Sorority.

She was involved at the Institute of Dance and loved helping children. She enjoyed her time with her friends at book club.

She was a devoted wife, mother and daughter, dedicating her life to her family.

She is survived by her devoted husband, Chuck; loving daughters, Deanna and Cayla; and her mother, Fran Zetts.

Debbie truly was a gift from God to her family and the many lives that she touched.

The family will receive friends at the Nelsen Funeral Home on Wednesday, Nov. 4, 2009, from 5 to 8 p.m.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, Nov. 5, at 1 p.m. at the Williamsburg United Methodist Church, 500 Jamestown Road in Williamsburg.

Interment will be at Williamsburg Memorial Park.

Memorial donations may be made in Debbie’s memory to St. Jude’s Children’s Cancer Research Hospital.

John T. DiFrangia, 66

COLUMBUS – John T. DiFrangia, 66, died Oct. 31, 2009, at his home after a long battle with esophageal cancer.

John is survived by his devoted wife of 40 years, Patricia A. DiFrangia (Pelleschi). John and Patricia were married in October of 1969 at St. Anthony’s Church in Youngstown. Their marriage produced two children, John A. DiFrangia of Hilliard and Jaclyn L. Nelson (DiFrangia) of Columbus. John is married to Helene A. DiFrangia and Jaclyn is married to Vince L. Nelson. John was blessed with five adoring grandchildren, Avel (12), Anthony(7), Chloe (3), John (18 mo.) and Carlo (3 mo.).

John leaves behind his loving family, John and Delphine Belcik of Youngstown, Maxmillian and Marie Pelleschi of Youngstown, Richard and Shirley DelBoccio of Youngstown, Ronald and Rachel Hill of Youngstown and sister, Audrey L. Iaquinto.

Mr. DiFrangia was born June 18, 1943, in Youngstown to John and Lucille DiFrangia, both preceded him in death.

He graduated from Liberty High School, and later served four years during the Vietnam era in the U.S. Navy. Mr. DiFrangia was stationed on the aircraft carrier USS Kitty Hawk. John enjoyed a passion for golf, horse racing and fine dining.

Friends may call Wednesday, Nov. 4, 2009, at the John Quint Treboni Funeral Home, 1177 W. 5th Ave. in Columbus, from 4 to 8 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m.

Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 5, 2009, at the Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church, 1559 Roxbury Road, Msgr. Romano Ciotola Presider. Friends are asked to meet at the church.

Entombment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery Mausoleum, 6440 S. High St., Lockbourne.

James E. Frye, 82

LIBERTY TOWNSHIP – James E. Frye, 82, passed away Saturday, Oct. 31, 2009, at St. Joseph Health Center.

James was born Feb. 19, 1927 to the late Everett and Mabel Marshall Frye in Niles.

He owned and operated Frye Excavating Co. for over 50 years. He was a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Vienna and served in the U.S. Army, during World War II.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, the former Margaret Frampton, whom he married March 29, 1952; son, James R. (Rosann) Frye of Girard; daughters, Tina (Virgil) Verhest, Debbie (Dennis) Leskovec, Jackie (Adam) Grymberg and Linda D'Avanzo, and son, Edward E. Frye, all of Liberty Twp.; sisters, Marge Gibbs of Texas and JoAnn Merrill of Liberty Twp.; a brother, Dave Frye of Wellsville; and 24 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his sisters, Evelyn Slimmer, Gladys Vosvellow and Charlotte Laupshansky; a brother, William; and one granddaughter.

Arrangements are entrusted to the Blackstone Funeral Home.


Mary Ann Harryhill, 75

MCDONALD – Mary Ann Harryhill, 75, died Sunday afternoon, Nov. 1, at Forum Health Trumbull Memorial Hospital surrounded by her loving family.

She was born June 30, 1934 in Warren, the daughter of the late Albert and Elizabeth (Kanche) Tauro.

Mary Ann grew up in Brier Hill graduating from The Rayen School in 1952. She worked as a secretary at New York Life. Later, she retired from McDonald Schools as a bus driver. She was a member of the Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church in McDonald.

Mary Ann was a wonderful and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and sister offering loving support and encouragement. Her warm smile, gentle touch, and quiet grace will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

Mary Ann is survived by her husband, Joseph Harryhill, whom she married April 18, 1959 at St. Ann Church in Brier Hill; four children, Dr. Joseph (Francine) Harryhill of Philadelphia, Patricia (Dr. Ernest) DeChellis of Novelty, Therese (Robert) Darnley of Mineral Ridge and Martin Harryhill of Lantana, Fla.; six grandchildren, Paul, Ross, Francis, Angelo, Elizabeth and John; two brothers, Donald Tauro of Girard and Albert (Deborah) Tauro of Apollo Beach, Fla.; and two sisters, Elizabeth (Dominic) Iandimarino of Lighthouse, Fla. and Patricia Pabin of McDonald.

Friends and family may call Wednesday evening from 5 to 7 p.m. at the McClurkin Funeral Home in Girard.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church with prayers at 9:30 a.m. at the funeral home.

Interment will be at Belmont Park Cemetery in Youngstown.

The family would like to thank the nurses at the ICU at Forum Health Trumbull Memorial Hospital for their compassionate care of Mary Ann.

Betty Jane Kushma, 84

BOARDMAN – Betty Jane Kushma, 84, died Sunday, Nov. 1, 2009.

Mrs. Kushma was born April 3, 1925 in Struthers, a daughter of Wilson and Elizabeth Maurer Garwood, and was a lifelong area resident.

She was a 1943 graduate of Struthers High School.

Mrs. Kushma was a homemaker and a member of the Christ Lutheran Church in Struthers. She enjoyed crocheting, knitting, baking and was an excellent cook. She also enjoyed spending time with her family at Scarcella’s restaurant.

Her husband, Andrew Kushma, whom she married June 16, 1943, died Aug. 13, 2001.

She is survived by one daughter, Cheryl Couts of Boardman; one son, Dale A. Kushma Sr. of Boardman; and six grandchildren, Lori (Joshua) Crook, Aaron Couts and Andrew Couts, all of Queens, N.Y., Dale A. Kushma II of Boardman, Sean Kushma of Poland and Maureen (Robert) LaCivita of Avon; and two great-grandchildren, Maria and Michael LaCivita; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, William Garwood and one sister, Louisa Slick Wardle.

Family and friends will be received today from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Davidson-Becker Funeral Home in Struthers.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home, where family and friends will be received from 9:30 to 10:15 a.m.

The Kushma family would like to thank the nursing and therapy staff of the Woodlands at Hampton Woods for their kindness and compassionate care.

Edith “Edie” V. Moore, 75

BELLEVUE, NEB.– Edith “Edie” V. Moore, 75, formerly of Wakefield Avenue, died Sunday morning at the Bergan Mercy Hospital in Omaha, Neb.

Edie was born March 3, 1934 in Vienna, a daughter of John and Mary Lewis Billock. She was raised in New Springfield, before moving to Struthers.

Edie was a 1952 graduate of Struthers High School, and a graduate of LaSalle University.

She worked at the Colonial House, The Mansion and the Pink Elephant before going to General Motors, where she retired in 1996 after 25 years.

Edie was a member of Local No. 1112 U.A.W., Renewal Team No. 13, and the Cursillo Team No. 36. She was a member of St. Nicholas Roman Catholic Church, and a former member of St. Joseph Church in Austintown.

She enjoyed sewing and creating different things such as stoma covers and donating them to the Youngstown Hearing and Speech Center in Boardman. She also made 50 fleece blankets and donated them to the Rescue Mission in Youngstown, along with several hundred hours of helping in the kitchen.

She leaves one son, Arthur “Jake” (Lynda) Moore of Bellevue; three daughters, Marie (Philip) Kubico of Cambridge, Cindy (Greg) Hynes of Lowellville and Deborah Marsh of Lowellville; one sister, Mary Lyda of Petersburg; two brothers, Philip Billock of Nome, Alaska and Charles Billock of Poland; 15 grandchildren, Christy (Giap) Neisius, Kelly Pickering, Molly (Andy) Denham, Joseph (Nicole) Moore, Joe (Amanda), Michelle (fiance Sean) Guidos, Jamie, Kelly and Emmett Hynes, Philip Riffle, Victoria Williams, Kenneth Riffle, Ryen Klouse, Scott Hale and Sara (Eric) Smith; and 20 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, Edie was preceded in death by three sisters, Irene Baker, Cecilia Ernst and Rosalie Craig; and eight brothers, Francis, Felix, Raymond, John Jr., Lloyd “Bud,” Nicholas, Fred and Richard Billock.

Funeral services will be Friday at 10:15 a.m. at the Davidson-Becker Funeral Home in Struthers, and at 11 a.m. at St. Nicholas Roman Catholic Church, with John Fr. Trimbur officiating. Interment will follow at St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery in Lowellville.

Family and friends will be received Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home in Struthers.

Dorothy “Dottie” Elizabeth Price, 81

“Together Again”

HUBBARD – Dorothy “Dottie” Elizabeth Price, 81, entered the arms of Jesus on Saturday, Oct. 31, 2009, at Park Vista Nursing Home, where she resided the last 10 months of her life. Her family surrounded her as she lost her battle with gallbladder cancer.

Dorothy was born to Carl Jagger and Eva Hanes Jagger Green Joyner on Dec. 17, 1927 in Youngstown.

She spent most of her life in Hubbard, where she and her husband, Harry Homer Price, raised their family. They met while working at the Isaly Dairy plant in Youngstown and married on Dec. 22, 1945, shortly before he joined the Army Air Corp. He passed away on Sept. 7, 1984. She also worked at Plakie Toys, Britain Plastics and Heritage Manor Nursing Home.

She was very active in the Chestnut Ridge Church of God for many years. More recently, Dorothy attended the Hubbard Church of the Nazarene.

Her activities included memberships in the Hubbard Conservation Club Auxiliary, Animal Friends Inc. and the Queen of Hearts Card Club. She won many ribbons for her painted ceramic pieces and also enjoyed crocheting and working on plastic canvas.

Left behind to mourn her passing are daughters, Cheryl (Lawrence) Gaia of Girard and Sheila (Terry) Snyder of Hubbard. She deeply loved and enjoyed her six grandchildren, Lori Price (Mike) Albu, Nicole Gaia (Michael) Scott, Matthew (Jenifer) Gaia, Gregory Gaia, Sherry Snyder and Neil Snyder; and her five great-grandchildren, Mike Albu, Payton and Sydney Scott and Anthony and Julianna Gaia will remember her with sweet thoughts. Dorothy also leaves her sisters, Jacqueline Roskie and Ella Mae (Paul) Smith, both of Hubbard; a brother, Donald Jagger of Texas. Several nieces and nephews, along with her “adopted” daughter, Patricia Boyle, will miss Dorothy’s kindness, generosity and comforting personality.

Those preceding her in death include her sons, Jack Price and infant Russell Price; a brother, Carl Green; brother in law, Glenn Roskie; sister-in-law, Annie Laurie Jagger; and a granddaughter, Renee Gaia.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the Kelley-Robb Funeral Home.

Family and friends may call on Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home and also one hour prior to the celebration of her meeting her Master on Wednesday from 10 to 11 a.m.

Dorothy and her family would like to thank the staff at Park Vista Nursing Home and Hospice of the Valley for their care, concern and comfort provided to her and her loved ones during her illness.

Frances Quimby, 64

NEW CASTLE, PA. – Frances Quimby, 64, passed away the afternoon of Nov. 1, 2009 at Jameson Hospital North.

She was born on Jan. 27, 1945 in Youngstown, a daughter of the late Harvey and Kathryn Caven Black.

She and her husband, Daryl Quimby, were married on April 4, 1964, and he survives in New Castle.

Mrs. Quimby was a secretary for Mid Western Electric. She enjoyed reading her Bible and collecting snowmen. She was a member of the Auxiliary Union Township Volunteer Fire Department and the First Baptist Church.

Frances is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Kathryn E. (Anthony) Corso of Struthers; four sons, and two daughters-in-law, David G. (Teresa A.) Quimby of Enon Valley, Pa., Douglas G. (Tracy) Quimby, Daryl G. Quimby and Dwayne G. Quimby, all of New Castle; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Harvey (Darlene) Black of Georgia and Terry (Lyndy) Black of New Castle; and nine grandchildren, AJ, Patrick and Thomas Corso, Brandon and Lauren Quimby, Steven Donnelly, and Doug, Ethan and Haley Quimby.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Visitation will be Wednesday, Nov. 4, 2009, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road in New Castle.

Services will be on Thursday, Nov. 5, 2009, at 11:30 a.m. at the funeral home. The Rev. John Yergan of the First Baptist Church will officiate.

Burial will be at Oak Park Cemetery.

Florence J. Swason, 83

BESSEMER, PA. – Florence J. Swanson, 83, entered into rest at the Edison Manor Care Center in New Castle, Pa., the morning of Nov. 2, 2009.

Florence was born in Bessemer on May 20,1926, the only daughter of the late Axel and Edith (Seidner) Swanson.

Florence was a 1944 graduate of Bessemer High and went on to work for Crawfords Cloverleaf Grocery in Bessemer. Her career although was working as a clerk for Valley Drug in Youngstown.

Florence enjoyed bingo and bowling at Mohawk Lanes. She also enjoyed doing Tatter.

Being an only child and never have marrying, Florence still leaves behind many cousins, friends and neighbors to mourn her passing, especially the Foster family who looked after her in her later years.

Calling hours will be held on Wednesday evening, at the Terry A. Cunningham Funeral Home in Bessemer from 5 to 7:30 p.m., then a service will be performed by Nathan Leslie; student pastor of the Bessemer Presbyterian Church.

Florence will be laid to rest besides her parents at the Graceland Cemetery.
