Joan Chandler, 70
POLAND Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home, Poland Chapel for Joan Chandler, 70, who died Thursday afternoon at St. Elizabeth Boardman Health Center after a courageous 30-year battle with heart disease.
Joan was born Oct. 6, 1939 in Ipswich, England to the late William Reid and Alice (Mills) Reid.
She immigrated to the United States in November of 1966. Though a U.S. citizen, she always considered England her home.
Before leaving England, she earned a Level A education and was known as a good Striker enjoying the game of Netball.
Her first priority in life was her family. She was very active in her childrens activities. She served on the PTA, was a Den Mother for Cub Scouts, volunteered with the Poland Little Vikings Boosters and serving as their treasurer. She chaperoned their class trips to Washington, D.C. as well. She was active with the Maple Saps Camping Club as well as the National Campers and Hikers Association. She was a member of the Poland Presbyterian Church.
Her talent for knitting was unparalleled and she loved to share her gift with family and friends.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her two sisters, Betty Burn and Doreen Sear; step-father, Richard Gellard; nephew, Martin Burn; and father-in-law, Francis Chandler.
She is survived by her husband of 46 years, Frank J. Chandler. They were married on Dec. 22, 1962.
She leaves a daughter, Linda (Doug) Ankerman of Poland; her two sons, Gary (Jodie) Chandler of Poland and David (Stacey) Chandler of Poland; and six beloved grandchildren, Jared, Abbey, Emily, Alex, Hannah and Brooke. She also leaves a sister, Pamela (John) Fouchard; brother, Richard (Jill) Gellard; mother-in-law, Doris Chandler; and brother-in-law, George Burn, all of England; and good friends, Barb and Charles Mascioli and Sandi and Larry Kraynak.
Friends may call Monday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Burial will be at Poland Riverside Cemetery.
Joan requested that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to the American Red Cross, Mahoning Chapter or to the American Heart Association.

Veronica Marie Chermansky, 82
NORTH LIMA There will be a Mass of Christian Burial on Monday, Nov. 16, 2009, at 11:30 a.m. at Saint Luke Catholic Church, 5235 South Ave. in Boardman with Fr. Joseph Fata officiating for Miss Veronica Marie Chermansky, 82, of Assumption Village, who died Friday morning, Nov. 13, 2009.
Veronica was born March 13, 1927 in Newton Falls, a daughter of the late Victor and Mary Chermansky.
She graduated from Warren G. Harding High School and received her BA from Youngstown College. Veronica had also received her Masters Degree.
Veronica had been a school teacher in the Cleveland Schools, Washington, DC, Diocese of Youngstown and for the Leonard Kirtz School for 23 years, retiring in 1986.
She was a member of St. Luke Catholic Church, its Altar Rosary Society and A.A.R.P.
Veronica leaves her brother, Edward Chermansky of Youngstown and several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Victor Chermansky, Steven Chermansky and Joe Chermansky; and three sisters, Mary Weisenberger, Louise Bartek and Agnes Chermansky.
Friends may call for one hour prior to the Mass at Saint Luke Church.

Robert G. Duraney, 80
CAMPBELL Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Monday at the Wasko Funeral Home and at 10 a.m. at St. John Church, for Robert G. Duraney, 80, who passed away Thursday evening at Hospice House.
Robert was born Dec. 9, 1928 in Campbell, the son of Andrew and Anna Franko Duraney and was a life long area resident.
He was a 1947 graduate of Campbell Memorial High School, after graduation he worked at Youngstown Steel Door.
He served his country in the U.S. Army from 1951 to 1953, after coming home he worked for Louis Starr Construction, where he was a finishing carpenter, and later worked out on his own. He built many homes in Campbell and the surrounding areas. Bob was a jack of all trades and master of all. He took pride in all his accomplishments and was a helper to many in the neighborhood.
He was a member of the church, and worked on building the church, chapel and cemetery.
Bob married the former Edna Smiley on Aug. 1, 1959, and they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary this year.
He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Edna and their five sons and one daughter, Robert and his companion Rita, David and Cindy, Gary and Kathy, Michael and Laurie, Jeff, and Lori and her fiancé Jim; six grandchildren, Gary, Shannon, Eryn, Cristin, Carrie and Melony.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Claire Woychik and Mildred Duraney.
The family requests that donations be made in Roberts name to the Hospice House or to the St. John Renovation and Improvement Fund.

Pat Eichenlaub, 58
MADISON A memorial service for Pat Eichenlaub, 58, will be at 3 p.m. today at the New Life Church, 4080 Call Road in Perry. A gathering for family and friends will be held following the service at a time and place to be announced.
Pat passed away from cancer Saturday at her home, shortly after a visit from all of her close family. Her husband and mother-in-law, with the aid of the Hospice of the Western Reserve, helped her transition from this life to the next.
Born Jan. 22, 1951, she grew up in Mentor and Mentor on the Lake before moving to Madison. She graduated from Mentor High School, worked for the Cleveland and Lake County Credit Bureaus and the Perry Nuclear Power Plant before retiring to become a full time mom.
Pat was an active member of the Ashtabula Power Squadron, a division of the United States Power Squadrons, a safe boating organization, eventually becoming a Squadron Commander. She was also active with the Spirit of America, a national youth boating and water safety education program, where she taught the use of small power boats on the Ashtabula River and Lake Erie.
Pat enjoyed boating, gardening, and feeding our feathered friends from her backyard deck.
Survivors include her husband, Fred Eichenlaub, to whom she was married to for 25 years; father, Frank J. (Wilma) Waldvogel; mother-in-law, Eulalie Eichenlaub; sons, Christian K. (Kristie) Sievers of Willoughby and Joshua H. (Lamatha) Sievers of Madison; grandchildren, Jacob, Robbie, Ariana, and Shea; siblings, Frank L. (Dani) Waldvogel of York, S.C., Kris T. Waldvogel of Apopka, Fla., and Rick E. (Joan Oneacer) Waldvogel.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Anna Marie Waldvogel.
There will not be a viewing or funeral as it was Pats wish that her body be donated to medical science, therefore she gave herself to the Case Western Reserve University.

Raymond E. Fitch, 72
AUSTINTOWN Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Monday at the Lane Funeral Home, Austintown Chapel for Raymond Fitch, 72, who died Friday morning.
Ray was born Aug. 27, 1937 in Phoenix, the son of Raymond and Ruth Fitch.
Ray retired in 2005 from O.D.O.T., where he had been an engineer technician for many years. He enjoyed collecting Santa Clauss and watching movies.
Ray is survived by his wife, June (Mellott) Fitch, whom he married Aug. 27, 1966; children, Debbie Rosborough, Donna (Earl) Kirkpatrick, Kim (Franz) Fitch and David Fitch; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. He also is survived by his brothers, Dick Fitch and Bill Newman.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Ronald Rosborough; and sister, Ruth Houlf.

Charles L. Harper, 89
COLUMBIANA Charles L. Harper, 89, of 930 E. Park Ave., passed away at 11:50 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 12, 2009, at Parkside Health Care Center, where he had been a resident for 2 12 years.
Charlie was born on Nov. 6, 1920 in Akron, the son of Charles M. and Hazel J. Peterson Harper.
Mr. Harper worked from 1948 to 1978 for Firestone Tire & Rubber Co. of Akron as their manager of Firestone Farms of Columbiana.
He taught from 1978 to 1985 Farm Business Planning and Analysis for Adult Education at Columbiana County Career Center.
Charlie was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Columbiana, where he served on the Board of Trustees in past years.
Mr. Harper was a World War II U.S. Army Air Corp veteran, serving in India.
He graduated from Akron Buchtel High School in 1938, then got his B.S. in Agricultural Engineering from Ohio State in 1946.
He had served on the Board of the Columbiana County Park District and was instrumental in the development of Greenway Bicycle & Walking Trail between Leetonia and Lisbon, a past member of the Planning Commission of Columbiana, a member of the Ohio Farm Bureau, the Columbiana County Mental Health Board, the Columbiana County Fair Board, the Fairfield Ruritan, where he served as past president and Columbiana Rotary, where he served as past president.
Mr. Harper was preceded in death on Nov. 21, 1984 by his wife, the former Merilynn Mikki McGinley. They were married March 23, 1948.
Survivors include a daughter, Heidi (Timothy) Griffy of Wadsworth; a son, Howard Harper of Ravenna; and two grandchildren, Carrie of Columbus and Christopher of Akron.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 17, 2009, at the Columbiana Cemetery with the Rev. John Bartholomew officiating.
Burial will be at Columbiana Cemetery.
There will be no calling hours.

Josephine Cafaro Hryb, 88
AUSTINTOWN Prayers will begin Monday at 9:45 a.m. at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home, Austintown Chapel followed by a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at St. Anthony Church for Josephine Cafaro Hryb, 88, formerly of Briar Hill, who died Thursday afternoon at St. Elizabeth Health Center.
Josephine was born May 25, 1921, in Youngstown, the daughter of Sam and Catherine Rimedio Cafaro.
A graduate of The Rayen School, she worked at Giordans Candy Factory and later at Photogenic Machine. She was a lifelong member of St. Anthony Church where she was a member of the Altar and Rosary Society and the St. Theresa Club and had volunteered making pizza. She was a member of the ITAM and the Mahoning County Democratic Club.
She is survived by a sister, Lucy Cafaro of Austintown; three grandchildren, Jody (Jamie) Zenn, Paul (Karen) Bernard and Chris (Lisa) Bernard; and eight great-grandchildren, Alexa, Maria, Dante and Gianna Bernard and Zachary, Logan, Taylor and Noah Zenn.
Her husband, Michael Hryb, preceded her in death in 1974. Besides her husband she was preceded in death by a daughter, Catherine Bernard; a sister, Rose Ansevin; three brothers, John, Dominic and Rocky Cafaro; and a nephew, Joey Fercana.

Mary Louise Moliterno, 88
GIRARD Mary Louise Moliterno, 88, died Thursday, Nov. 12, 2009, at Hampton Woods in Poland.
She was born Jan. 31, 1921 in Lyndora, Pa., the daughter of the late Peter and Bara (Maric) Chos.
She was a member of St. Rose Church in Girard and was active in its Altar and Rosary Society.
She married Nicholas Edward Moliterno on Jan. 24, 1940, and he passed away March 7, 1969.
She is survived by six children, Mary Ellen (Michael) Corridore of Alexandria, Va., Elaine (John) Wopershall of Austintown, Nick (Sherry) Moliterno of Southington, Jim Moliterno of Lexington, Va., Bob (Kathy) Moliterno of Cincinnati and Jeff (Patty) Moliterno of Canfield; a brother, Michael Chos of Butler, Pa.; 21 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, George, Peter and Stephan; and three sisters, Kate, Anna and Emily.
Calling hours are Sunday from 3 to 5 p.m. at the McClurkin Funeral Home in Girard.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday at St. Rose Church with prayers at the funeral home at 10:30 a.m.
Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery in Youngstown.

Charles David Moore, 57
MAPLE HEIGHTS Charles David Moore, 57, died Tuesday at his residence.
Charles, also known as Chuck, was born Sept. 27, 1952 in Cleveland, a son of the Rev. Charles and Mary Jo Plymale Moore.
He was a graduate of Jennings High School in Jennings, Mo. and was a self-employed automobile mechanic. Chuck served in the U.S. Army.
Besides his mother, Mary Jo Moore of Nashville, Tenn., Chuck leaves his son and daughter-in-law, Jason and Marcie Moore; a sister, Rosemarie Davis of Nashville; a brother, the Rev. Jonathan and his wife, Paulette Moore of Boardman; three nephews, Kenny Davis and Lucas and Matthew Moore; two nieces, Jessica and Tori Moore; and his long-time friend, Beverley Fuller of Maple Heights.
Besides his father, Charles was preceded in death by his sister, Rebecca Elaine Moore.
Services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. with Pastor Jonathan Moore of the Highway Tabernacle Church officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Boardman.

Martha E. Mowen, 90
WARREN Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at the Lane Funeral Home, Austintown Chapel for Martha E. Mowen, 90, who passed away at Forum Health Trumbull Memorial Hospital on Friday.
Martha was born on Sept. 13, 1919 in Wellsville, the daughter of Eugene Thorn Sr and Mabel (Williamson) Thorn.
She was a 1938 graduate of Alliance High School. She was employed for 20 years as a retail sales clerk at Rite Aid, and she retired in 1986.
Martha enjoyed gardening and spending time with her family, especially her husband, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Martha is survived by her husband, Robert Mowen of 67 years, whom she married on July 26, 1942.
She also leaves two sons, Gary (Debbie) Mowen of Niles and Roger Mowen of Columbiana. Martha also leaves five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, as well as two sisters, Lois (Jack) Ringer and Bernice Chevaux of Louisville, Ohio.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers and three sisters.

Dorothy Norton, 87
NORTH LIMA Dorothy Norton, 87, died Wednesday morning at Assumption Village.
Dorothy was born April 9, 1922 in Youngstown, a daughter of Roy and Josephine Schilling Norton. She was a lifelong area resident.
She was a graduate of Ursuline High School and worked as a secretary for Truscon Steel and then for the United Steelworkers Union, where she retired.
She leaves one niece, Marianne of California; one nephew, Michael (Theresa) Norton of Girard; and her dear friend, Fr. James OBrien of Boardman.
Besides her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by one brother, Roy F. Norton; two sisters, Norma and Loretta Norton; and one nephew, Roy Norton Jr.
Services will be held Monday at 5:30 p.m. at St. Luke Catholic Church in Boardman with Fr. Joseph Fata officiating. Interment will follow Tuesday at Calvary Cemetery in Youngstown.

Ernest S. Overdorf Sr., 86
AUSTINTOWN Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Lane Funeral Home, Austintown Chapel for Ernest Overdorf Sr., 86, who died Thursday morning.
Ernie was born Sept. 4, 1923 in Jersey Shore, Pa., the son of Asher and Edna (Ryan) Overdorf.
Ernie retired from LTV Steel in 1985 after working there and the former Republic Steel for over 30 years. He was a Navy Veteran of World War II, member of V.F.W. Post 93 in Boardman and a member of Western Star Lodge No. 21 F. & A.M. Ernie loved to hunt and fish, he also loved to stock fish in Pennsylvania.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Dorothy (McMichael) Overdorf whom he married Aug. 17, 1946; daughter, Carol Shackelford and son Ernest S. Overdorf Jr., both from Youngstown. Ernie is also survived by brothers, Peter of Akron, James of Jersey Shore and Richard in Washington State; and sister Gladys Brown in Sequin, Texas; grandchildren, Steven Durrett, Carrie Whitehouse, Kelly Garl and Jill Overdorf; and great-grandchildren, Carissa Whitehouse, Rhianna Durrett, Allison Garl and Andruw Brown.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Gyla Huffman, Leigh Overdorf, Lucille McDaniel and Edna Parker; and brothers, Walter and Tillman.

Together Again
COITSVILLE TOWNSHIP Funeral services will be held on Monday, Nov. 16, 2009, at 10:15 a.m. at the Kirila Funeral Home, 258 Poland Ave. in Struthers and at 11 a.m. at Sts. Peter and Paul Church, 421 Covington St. in Youngstown for Marie Rose (Lilak) Tekac, 88, who died peacefully at Hospice House with her children at her side.
Marie Rose was born Aug. 10, 1921 in Campbell, the daughter of Jacob and Treza Friscic Lilak. She was a lifelong resident of Campbell and Coitsville Township.
Marie Rose Tekac, the former Marie Rose Lilak, was a devoted mother and homemaker. She graduated from Campbell Memorial High School in January of 1940. After graduation, she attended Youngstown College night school.
After graduation, she was employed at Campbell City Hall as a secretary for the former Mayor Andrew Hamrock. She also worked for the Office of Price Administration during World War II.
Marie was active until her time of death, with the Croatian Fraternal Union and served as treasurer for Lodge No. 185, Campbell, Ohio for 65 years.
She served as a delegate for four conventions and also served for the United Lodges as treasurer for 25 years and was one of the organizers for the United Lodges. She also served as Vice President of the Croatian Ladies Club of Campbell. She was a member of the Croatian Club of Youngstown.
Marie was Woman of the Year in 1995 for the Croatian United Lodges of Youngstown. In May 1989, she was awarded Mother of the Year from the Campbell Croatian Ladies Club.
She traveled to Croatia, Yugoslavia twice. She and her husband were members of the St. George Kolo Ensemble and went on a 14 day concert tour in Croatia, Yugoslavia. She and her husband loved to travel and vacationed with her children and grandchildren.
She was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and loved her family and friends. She was proud of her ethnic heritage.
She loved to dance and always was the first person on the dance floor and the last person off the dance floor. She was the life of the party. She was a collector of all types of dolls and was proud of her collection.
Her husband, George William Tekac, whom she married May 25, 1946 at Sts. Peter and Paul Croatian Church, entered into his eternal rest on Feb. 12, 2009. She missed him greatly. She was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Church her whole life.
She leaves behind to mourn her loss, two children, a son, Jack (Marilyn) of Poland and a daughter, Rosemary (Jeff) Olsavsky of Youngstown; two grandchildren, Kimberly (Dom) Triveri and Ryan Tekac, both of Poland; a great-grandchild, Anthony Triveri; several godchildren and nieces and nephews, whom she loved very much; and a sister, Helen Chapella of Campbell.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Kathryn (Katie) Rabovsky; and a brother, John F. Lilak.
