Kristen Anne Beckman, 54
PITTSBURGH Kristen Anne Beckman, 54, died on Nov. 17, 2009.
Born in Iowa City, Iowa, to Paul and Mary Beckman. She was sister to Paul, Karla, Michelle and Mark; a sister-in-law to Steve, Bonnie, Laurie, Kevin, Donald, David and Joanne; and an aunt to Carrie, Kevin, David, Maria, Aidan, Jessie, Annie and Benjamin.
Kristen married Eddie Heal in 1982, their love was endless.
Kristen graduated from Youngstown State University and the University of Pittsburgh obtaining her doctorate in Anthropology.
She was a longtime vice president of Cultural Resources at Skelly & Loy as well as Managing Partner of OMNI Associates.
Her joy for life, her charm and love for her family and friends will make her greatly missed by all.
Private services were held at home.
In lieu of flowers, Kristen believed in Beginning with Books Center for Early Literacy and Pet Connection, Cat Rescue Adoption Service in Avonmore, Pa.

Raymond J. Tip Boila, 63
POLAND Raymond J. Tip Boila, 63, died Wednesday, Nov. 18, 2009, at St. Elizabeth Boardman Health Center in Boardman.
Mr. Boila was born May 10, 1946 in Youngstown, a son of John and Mary Parvu Boila, and was a lifelong area resident.
He was a 1965 graduate of South High School, and a member of St. Marys Romanian Catholic Church.
Mr. Boila worked for U.S. Steel McDonald Works, in the 18 hot mill as a hot bander from 1966 to 1982. He also worked at Aluminum Color in Lowellville from 1985 to 2001, and was a machine operator and union representative. He was an avid Ohio State, Cleveland Browns and Cavaliers fan, and was a member of the UAW.
He is survived by his wife of 36 years, the former Shannon Pennell, whom he married April 28, 1973; one son, Raymond J. (Jackie) Boila Jr. of Struthers; one grandson, Vincent Boila of Struthers; one brother, John Boila Jr. of Youngstown; a sister-in-law, Sandy Beckwith of Poland; two nieces, Kerrie (Scott) Wilson of Austintown and Heidi (Jason) Smith of Boardman; three great-nephews, Jacob Smith, Tyler Smith and Benjamin Wilson; dear friends, Larry (Sandi) Tusinac of Poland and Jimmy (Lucille) Matasic of Poland; and his beloved dog, Honey.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his father and mother-in-law, Ray and June Pennell; and brother-in-law, David Beckwith.
The Boila family would like to thank Dr. John Popovec and the wonderful staff of the Intensive Care Unit at St. Elizabeth Boardman Health Center for all of their great care given to him.
Family and friends will be received today from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home in Poland, where prayers will be said Saturday at 9:30 a.m., where friends will also be received from 9 to 9:30 a.m.
A funeral Mass will be Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at St. Marys Romanian Catholic Church, 7782 Glenwood Ave. in Boardman with Father George D. Gage officiating. Interment will follow at Lake Park Cemetery.

Frances A. Carsone, 90
HUBBARD Frances A. Carsone, 90, died Tuesday evening, Nov. 17, 2009, at her residence.
She was born Jan. 8, 1919, in Hubbard, a daughter of Paul and Mary Lancione Rosile and was a lifelong Hubbard resident.
Mrs. Carsone, a homemaker, was a member of St. Patrick Church, Hubbard and a past member of the Altar and Rosary Society. She was a member of the Happy Wanderers, was an avid Youngstown State University football tailgating fan and enjoyed playing cards with her sisters.
Her husband, Frank Fritz Carsone, whom she married May 25, 1940, died Dec. 19, 1994.
She leaves a son, Tom (Lynn) Carsone of Niles; a daughter, Rosemary (Elmer) Berstling of Hubbard; a brother, Nick (MaryLou) Rosile of Cortland; two sisters, Phil Bellino of Austintown and Marge LaCivita of Hubbard; three sisters-in-law, Alice Rosile of Slippery Rock, Pa. and Beverly Rosile and Marge Cronin, both of Hubbard; two grandsons, Carey (Kristin) Carsone of Clayton, N.C. and Marc (Jenny) Carsone of Mineral Ridge; and a great-granddaughter, Ali Carsone of Liberty.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Philip and Angelo Rosile.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at the Kelley-Robb Funeral Home.
Family and friends may call on Saturday, one hour prior to the services from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home.

YOUNGSTOWN Memorial services were held Tuesday, Nov. 17, 2009, at St. John the Baptist Church in Campbell for Anna Furgan, 94, who passed away Saturday afternoon, Nov. 14, 2009, at the Briarfield at Ashley Circle Nursing Home.
Anna was born Aug. 22, 1914 in Youngstown, a daughter of the late Mike and Susie Hura Bodnarik.
She had worked for Plakie Toy Co.
She was a member of St. John the Baptist Church.
Anna loved to cook and enjoyed doing crafts and ceramics. She was a sweet and loving woman and will be sadly missed.
She is survived by her sister, Mary Semyan.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Chester Doepping, who died in 1970; her second husband, Michael Furgan, who passed away Sept. 6, 2009; two sisters, Susan Patcun and Elizabeth Voitus; and a brother, Michael Bednarik.

William Edhris Garland, 78
MINERAL RIDGE Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the Mineral Ridge Church of Christ for William E. Garland, 78, who died Wednesday afternoon at the Cleveland Clinic.
Edhris was born March 31, 1931 in Mineral Ridge, the son of the late Gilbert and Mary (Jones) Garland.
He retired a number of years ago after 30 years with Wean United, where he had been a machinist. He had worked for DeBartlo Corp. and had been a truck driver. Edhris had been a member of the Mineral Church of Christ for 78 years and was an avid fisherman, hunter and NASCAR fan.
He leaves his wife, the former Irene A. Fusco, whom he married April 8, 1951. He also leaves five children, William E. (Cathy) Garland, Jr. of Mineral Ridge, Donna J. (Doug) Gilkerson of Columbus, Jeffrey L. Garland at home, Caroline S. (Doug) Bryan of Mt. Gilead and John E. Garland of Austintown; seven grandchildren, Sarah and Katie Garland, Danny DJ and Larry Fisher and April, Alan and Ashley Bryan; and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Caroline Rose; and a brother, Lamar Garland.
Friends may call at the Lane Funeral Home, Mineral Ridge Chapel from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday and from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday at the church.

John David Kreider, 76
YOUNGSTOWN There will be a memorial service on Saturday, Nov. 21, 2009, at 11 a.m. at the Phoenix House, 850 N. Meridian Road in Youngstown for John David Kreider, 76, who died Tuesday morning, Nov. 17, 2009, at his residence.
He was born April 6, 1933 in Youngstown, the son of the late Louis S. and Maud Buchanan Kreider.
John graduated from Boardman High School and the University of Pennsylvania, Wharton School of Business and Finance.
He worked with his father and brother at the family business, Kreider Realtors, and helped in the development of Forest Glen Estates in Boardman.
John is survived by a sister, Elaine Leikhim of Naples, Fla.; a sister-in-law, Betty Kreider of Boardman; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, John was preceded in death by a brother, Louis B. Kreider.
There are no calling hours.

Josephine Logero, 88
POLAND Private family services were held Thursday morning at St. Lucy Church with Fr. Gerald DeLucia officiating, for Josephine Logero, 88, formerly of Campbell, who passed away Tuesday evening at St. Elizabeth Health Center.
Josephine was born Oct. 1, 1921 in Calabria, Italy, the daughter of Joseph and Filomena Perry Caruso and came to the United States as a child, then moved to Campbell in 1959.
Her husband, Taleno R. Logero, passed away June 13, 1980.
She leaves to cherish her memory her two sons, David (Debbie) of Poland and Taleno (Colleen) of Warren; seven grandchildren, Jennifer (Gary) Cannon, Jason (Zabia) Logero, Zachary Logero, David Logero, Mark Logero, Michael Logero and Matt Logero; and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two sisters, Josephine Cua and Rose Collelo; and one brother, Dominic Caruso.

Laura Martin, 57
AUSTINTOWN Services will be at noon on Monday at the Lane Funeral Home, Austintown Chapel for Laura Martin, 57, who passed away Wednesday afternoon at Forum Health Northside Medical Center.
Laura was born June 9, 1952 in Kittanning, Pa., the daughter of Harold and Velda (Wyant) Martin and came to the area at the age of 12.
She was a former member of the Calvary Baptist Church. She was a homemaker.
Laura leaves her mother of North Lima; a brother, Roger (Mary Ann) Martin of Youngstown; a half sister Nancy (Bob) Stockdill; a half-brother, Tom (Lou) Aldaus, both in Kittanning; as well as several nieces and nephews; and great-nieces and great-nephews.
Laura was preceded in death by her father, Harold Martin, who passed away in 1968 and her stepfather, Albert Toth, who passed away in October of 2004.

John C. Rendt, 83
BESSEMER, PA. John C. Rendt, 83, passed away Wednesday morning at the Jameson Hospital in New Castle, Pa.
John was born in Reynoldsville, Pa. on Sept. 18, 1926, one of four boys, to the late Samuel Walten and Maymie (Himes) Rendt.
He served his country in the Army during World War II in the Pacific Theatre.
He is survived by his wife, the former L. Erline Neal, whom he married on March 12, 1949.
John had worked as a steelworker for the Youngstown Sheet & Tube Co. He was a member of the American Legion Post No. 638, the VFW Post No. 2799, the Bessemer Croatian Club and the Lawrence County Coon & Fox Hunt Club.
Besides his wife of 60 years, John also leaves behind three daughters, Mrs. Barbara E. Bylenok of Bessemer, Mrs. Judy L. Downs of Tampa, Fla. and Mrs. Cindy L. Altman of New Castle; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; half brother, Harry E. Himes; brothers, Eugene, James, William, Raymond and Richard Rendt; and a great-granddaughter, Samara Elle Bylenok.
The family will receive friends at the Terry A. Cunningham Funeral Home, 203 Oak St. in Bessemer, today from 5 to 8 p.m. and Saturday, Nov. 21, from 10 to 11 a.m. with a service following under the direction of the Rev. John Magargee of the First Covenant Church.
Timothy J. Tim Smaldino, 49
AUSTINTOWN-Services will begin with closing prayers at 9:30 a.m. Monday, Nov. 23, 2009, at the Lane Funeral Home, Austintown Chapel and continue with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Church with Fr. Stephen Popovich officiating for Timothy J. Tim Smaldino, 49, who passed away at 11:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 18, 2009, in his home with his family by his side after a loosing a courageous two year battle with ALS Lou Gehrigs Disease.
Tim was born July 27, 1960, in Youngstown, the son of Dominic J. and Julia C. (Vernell) Smaldino, and was a 1978 graduate of Chaney High School.
Tim retired February 2009 after working for 22 years at the Main Post Office Downtown Youngstown as a Postal Clerk, and before working there, Tim worked for his fathers business Smaldino Heating and Air Conditioning.
Tim was a coach to his son and daughter. He was a member of the church and Fitch Falcon Football Boosters Club. Tim was an avid sports fan, and most of all, Tim was a loving and caring husband and father, whose biggest joy, was spending time with his family.
Tim is survived by his wife of 24 years, the former Pamela J. Kalenits, whom he married on Oct. 26, 1985; his mother, Julia C. Smaldino of Youngstown; two children, Nicole Christine Smaldino and Christopher James Smaldino, both at home; two brothers, Michael (Donna) Smaldino of Youngstown and Donald (Cynthia) Smaldino of Austintown; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Donald and JoAnn (Maluso) Kalenits of Youngstown; several nieces and nephews; a great-niece and two great-nephews; and by a host of friends.
Tim was preceded in death by his father.
Family will receive friends on Sunday, Nov. 22, 2009, from 3 to 7 p.m. at the Lane Funeral Home, Austintown Chapel.
Burial will take place at Resurrection Cemetery.

Dominick M. Stigliano, 97
WARREN Dominick M. Stigliano, 97, of 3380 Curtis Ave., died at 1:45 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 19, 2009, at Hospice of The Valley Hospice House in Poland.
He was born Oct. 30, 1912 in Colobraro, Italy, the son of Vincent and Elizabeth DePizzo Stigliano.
Dominick was a masonry contractor for 55 years, founded the Columbus Christian Assembly in 1939 and pastored for 18 years. Today the church has grown in membership to over 1000.
He was a member of the Niles Christian Assembly and was an Ordained Minister for 70 years for the Christian Churches of North America, now known as The International Fellowship of Christian Assemblies.
He enjoyed gardening, reading, mall walking, writing as he wrote and titled an autobiography called "God is Faithful."
He will be deeply missed by his wife, Eva Bernardo Stigliano, whom he married Oct. 3, 1942; two sons, Vincent Stigliano and his wife Cheryl of Warren and Jerry Stigliano and his wife Kelly of Orange Park, Fla.; two daughters, Elizabeth Crognale and her husband Ron of Delran, N.J. and Debra Gohn and her husband Chuck of Pittsburgh; two sisters, Esther Stigliano of Syracuse, N.Y. and Sarah Chiodo and her husband Joe of Sharpsville, Pa.; 14 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by three sisters, Mary Pantalone, Rita Sabella and Theresa Rubbo.
Friends may call Sunday from 3 to 6 p.m. at the Joseph Rossi & Sons Funeral Home in Niles.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. on Monday at The Niles Christian Assembly with the Rev John Mizgerd officiating, preceded by a 10:15 a.m. prayer service at the funeral home.
Burial will be at Pineview Cemetery.

POLAND F. Florene Van Meter, 95, died Wednesday afternoon at her residence.
Florene was born Feb. 13, 1914 in Youngstown, a daughter of Dr. Nile D. and Frances Carson Blackmer and resided in the area all of her life.
She was a 1932 graduate of Struthers High School and a 1936 graduate of Ohio State University, where she was a member of Alpha Xi Delta Sorority.
She embarked on a career in education, teaching at Struthers schools until her marriage to R. Howard Van Meter on Dec. 31, 1937. She later returned to the classroom, teaching full time in the Poland schools for two years and later substitute teaching in the Mahoning County schools for three years.
She was a member of the Struthers Presbyterian Church, and she and her husband belonged to various couples bowling leagues and bridge clubs, until his death on Jan. 4, 1993.
She is survived by four children, Richard (Janice) Van Meter of Troy Ill., Donald (Suzanne) Van Meter of Poland, Frances (William) Agnew of New Middletown and Karen (Andrew) Laurie of Newbury; her sister, Barbara Blackmer Williams of Youngstown; eight grandchildren, Richard Van Meter Jr., Megan (Brian Mitchell) Van Meter, Thomas Agnew, Linda (Stephen) Molnar, Christopher (Eleanor) Owen, Caroline "Carrie" (Robert) Klimeczko, Andrew Laurie II and Kimberly Laurie; eight great-grandchildren; seven nieces; and one nephew.
In addition to her parents and husband, Florene was preceded in death by her sister, Elizabeth "Betty" Ludwig.
Services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Davidson-Becker Funeral Home with the Rev. Richard Ferris officiating. Interment will follow at Lake Park Cemetery.
Friends will be received Saturday from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. at the funeral home.

Victor John Woodworth Jr., 89
Together Again
MEDINA Victor John Woodworth, Jr., 89, of Medina, formerly of Poland and Austintown, died Wednesday evening, Nov. 18, 2009, at Medina Hospital.
Mr. Woodworth was born Oct. 6, 1920 in Youngstown, a son of Victor John and Myrtle Hum Woodworth, Sr.
He was a graduate of South High School.
Mr. Woodworth worked as a Distribution Field Manager in the Youngstown Division of the Engineering Section for Ohio Edison, retiring in 1983 after 37 years of service.
He was a U.S. Air Force veteran, serving during World War II in the South Pacific. He was a member of the Poland Lodge F & AM 766 and a 32nd degree Mason of the Valley of Youngstown Scottish Rite, Past Master of the Poland Lodge and Past District Deputy Grand Master. He was also a member of the Word of God Christian Fellowship in Canfield.
His wife, the former Mary I. Estes, whom he married Feb. 14, 1943, died July 15, 2009.
He leaves two sons, David (Helen) Woodworth of Warren and Paul Woodworth of Florida; one brother, L. Arthur Woodworth of Zephyr Hills, Fla.; six grandchildren, Jacquelyn Woodworth, Julie (Mike) Reese, David Woodworth Jr., Shelly Woodworth, John Woodworth and Matthew Woodworth; three great-grandchildren, Jacob Reese, Christian Whitaker and Brandon Woodworth; and a daughter-in-law, Barbara Woodworth of Jacksonville, Fla.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his son, James Woodworth; granddaughter, Mary Woodworth; and grandson, Michael Woodworth.
A memorial service will be held Friday, Nov. 27, 2009, at 11 a.m. at the Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home in Poland, where family and friends will be received one hour prior to the service.
Inurement will take place at Lake Park Cemetery.
