Geo Michael Krohmer

REDWOOD CITY, CALIF. – Geo Michael Krohmer’s life was taken from him Monday, Dec. 28, 2009, by esophageal cancer. His wife, friends, and family will remember him most for his sense of humor and joi de vivre.

He was born June 5, 1965, and was a wonderful husband, great friend and nature lover.

Mike loved being active in the outdoors more than anything and was particularly fond of bicycling and skiing. His love for road biking inspired him to try a few century rides in 2003. By 2007, he was such an accomplished cyclist that he attained the prestigious Triple Crown, the award/bragging rights given to those cyclists who complete three double-centuries in a single calendar year.

Mike loved hiking and camping, especially in Yosemite National Park and Sequoia and King’s Canyon National Park. He believed passionately in conservation of wild lands and wild life. His favorite animals were bears, and conserving habitat for bears was his favorite cause.

Mike enjoyed watching his favorite sports teams, the Dallas Mavericks, Dallas Stars, Oakland Raiders, and Oakland A’s during his relaxation time. He also loved theater and musicals.

Professionally, Mike was a restaurant manager, working for BJ’s restaurant and brew pub the last five years of his life. Mike loved seeing the restaurant guests having fun times together over a meal. He loved good food and good beer almost as much as he loved a good day skiing, hiking, or cycling and he was glad he had a job where he could share those passions.

Mike is survived by his devoted and loving wife and best friend, Belinda; daughter and son Kaitlyn and Steven Krohmer; stepdaughter Kayla Christensen; mother Helga Goodrum; brother and sister-in-law, Steve and Lori Krohmer; nephews Nate and Owen Krohmer; mother-in-law and father-in-law Joyce and David Womack; and brother-in-law and sister-in-law Steve and Jackie Womack. Mike will be sorely missed by all of us who had the privilege to spend time with him.
