Delores J. Book, 83

NORTH LIMA – Delores J. Book, 83, of 225 E. Pine Lake Road, passed away Jan. 8, 2010 at her residence.

Delores was born in New Castle, Pa., on March 21, 1926 to George and Margaret Kuder.

She was a graduate of New Castle High School. In September of 1948, she married Floyd E. Book. He passed away May 16, 2001.

Delores worked as a clerk at the Joseph Horne store at the Southern Park Mall for several years. Following her retirement, she loved to travel with her husband.

Delores is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law, David and Katie Book of Fort Wayne, Ind. and Craig Book of Houston, and three grandchildren, Adam Book, Alli Book and Jillian Book.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Floyd.

Visitation will be held today, Jan. 12, 2010, from noon until 1 p.m. at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road in New Castle.

Ann R. “Babe” Brent, 87

YOUNGSTOWN – There will be services at 2 p.m. on Wednesday Jan. 13, at the Rossi Brothers and Lellio Funeral Home, 4442 South Ave. in Boardman, for Ann R. “Babe” Brent, who passed away on Saturday, Jan. 9, at her residence.

Ann was born July 25, 1922 in Holden, W. Va., the daughter of Frank and Fannie Hubert.

She was employed as a cook at the Silver Mirror and later worked as a caretaker, and also cleaned houses. Ann was a special homemaker, who loved to cook and bake for her family, especially at Christmas.

Ann was a member of St Luke Church. She enjoyed bowling, watching the cooking channel and the Catholic channel.

She will always be remembered by her children, daughter Karen (Carl) Zurcher of Youngstown; two sons, Richard (Kim) Brent of Youngstown and James Daley of Virginia; her nine grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; two sisters, Theresa Pitlik and Mary Vass; and many loving nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, Ann was preceded in death by her daughter, Patricia Klazon; son, Robert Daley, grandson, John Simmons, great-granddaughter, Sarah Bundy; and brother, Joe Hubert.

Friends may call on Wednesday, Jan. 13, from noon until the time of services at the funeral home.

Mary Rychilicki Crawford, 97

MANSFIELD – A funeral Mass will be celebrated Wednesday at noon at St. Matthias Church for Mary Rychlicki Crawford, 97, formerly of Youngstown, who passed away Thursday, Dec. 31, at Liberty Nursing Center in Mansfield.

Mrs. Crawford was born in Youngstown on Jan. 30, 1912, a daughter of Charles and Mary Zebrak Rychlicki.

She was a homemaker and a member of St. Matthias Church.

Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Crawford, whom she married Jan. 2, 1941, and who died July 15, 1979; her brother, Charles Rychlicki; and her sister, Pauline Guzaski.

She is survived by her sisters, Sophie Stiteler of Mansfield and Sister Mary Pachomia of Parma; as well as by several nieces and nephews.

The family will greet visitors at the church from 11:30 a.m. to noon, one half hour prior to the Mass.

Interment will take place in Florida.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Kubina-Yuhasz Funeral Home in Boardman.



Stephen Drapp Sr., 79

STRUTHERS – Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Thursday at the Wasko Funeral Home and 10 a.m. at St. Nicholas Byzantine Church with Fr. David Shortt officiating, for Stephen Drapp Sr., 79, who passed away peacefully Sunday morning at Hampton Woods Nursing Home with his family by his side.

Stephen was born Nov. 6, 1930 in Campbell, the son of John and Mary Tirpack Drapp.

He was a 1949 graduate of Campbell Memorial High School and went on to serve his country in the U.S. Marine Corps.

He was a machinist at Wean United, and retired after 35 years of service.

Stephen was a member of the church and did volunteer work within the church.

He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, the former Susan Kotasek, whom he married on July 11, 1953; his children, Diane Marie Drapp of Struthers and Stephen (Vicki) Drapp, Jr of Lancaster; two granddaughters, Emily Elizabeth and Stephanie Nicole, both of Lancaster; and two sisters, Mrs. Mary Hudran of Youngstown and Mrs. Dorothy Hudran of Canton.

He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant grandson, Nicholas; three brothers, John, Andrew and Edward Drapp; and two sisters, Lillian Drapp and Margaret Sharshan.

The Drapp family has entrusted their loved one to the care of the Wasko Funeral Home and will receive friends Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m., where there will be a 4 p.m. Panachida Service.

Thomas W. Eynon, 70

WEST CHESTER, PA. – Thomas W. Eynon, 70, passed away on Saturday, Jan, 9, 2010, at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Mary Ann DiCarlo Eynon, with whom he shared 33 very happy years of marriage.

Born in Youngstown, he was the son of the late Samuel “Bud” and Pearl Bayer Eynon.

Tom graduated in 1957 from Liberty High School in Youngstown and later received his bachelor’s degree from West Virginia State in 1985.

In 1958, he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps, serving as a Private First Class for seven years, until he was honorably discharged in 1965.

Before his retirement in 1998, Tom worked as a Safety Manager with Kaiser Aluminum for 25 years and BOC Gases for 10 years.

He was a member of the Hopewell United Methodist Church in Downingtown, Pa., and was a past member of the Stonewall United Methodist Church in Stonewall, N.C. He resided in North Carolina for five years before returning to Pennsylvania in 2008.

Tom loved the outdoors and living by the water, where he enjoyed boating and fishing with his best buddy Rush, his Black Labrador Retriever.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Eynon is survived by his children, Deborah E. Celli of Mineral Ridge, Scott L. Eynon of Austintown, Gregory T. Eynon and his wife, Melanie of Newark, Del. and David S. Eynon and his wife, Traci of Exton, Pa.: sister, Charleen Spencer and her husband, Edward of Hubbard; and three grandchildren, Alexander White of South Bend, Ind. and Patrick and Jennifer Celli, both of Mineral Ridge.

A memorial service will take place at 1 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 14, 2010, at the James J. Terry Funeral Home, 736 E. Lancaster Ave. in Downingtown, where family and friends may call from noon to 1 p.m.

Interment will be at Hopewell United Methodist Cemetery in Downingtown.

Jack L. Fairman Jr.

HOUSTON – Jack L. Fairman Jr., born March 11, 1964 in Youngstown, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Jan. 9, 2010 in his spiritual home of Houston.

Jack graduated from Youngstown State University in 1987 with a Bachelor’s in accounting. He was a member of the American institute of CPA’s and the Society of CPA’s. He worked for Ernst & Young in Atlanta as an Executive Director-Business Tax Compliance.

He leaves to cherish his memories parents, Audrey P. and Jack L. Fairman Sr. of Youngstown; sister, Victoria Groff and husband Loren of Houston; nephew, James Krokoski Jr.; niece, Leann Krokoski; significant other, Cheryl Gabrick of Youngstown; canine companion, “Buddy”; spiritual brothers of Houston; along with other loving family and friends.

The family will receive friends today, Jan. 12, 2010, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Brookside Funeral Home.

Thomas Michael Fedina, 60

BOARDMAN – Prayer services will be held at 5 p.m. Wednesday at the Lane Funeral Home, Canfield Chapel for Thomas Michael Fedina, 60, who died Saturday at his residence.

Tom was born Dec. 31, 1949 in Youngstown, the son of Michael and Stella (Powlysn) Fedina and was a lifelong area resident.

Tom retired in 2004 after 30 years from General Motors, where he had been a welder for maintenance repair. He graduated in 1968 from Chaney High School, then served his country in the Army during the Vietnam War. Tom was a member of the Vietnam Veterans and was also a member of the Disabled American Veterans.

He is survived by his wife, the former Joanne Lippillo, whom he married June 2, 1973; daughters, Laura of Cuyahoga Falls, Karly of St. Petersburg, Fla. and Lisa of Chicago; and one sister, Dorothy Barak of Avon.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters, June Jenkins and Patricia Bodak.

Tom was an avid fisherman, bowler and enjoyed football, although the last few years of his life, he was unable to enjoy these hobbies. He loved his job at General Motors as a skilled tradesman and enjoyed meeting his retiree friends for breakfast on Wednesday’s at Eat N Park.

More than anything else, Tom loved his family dearly. He was a devoted husband and father. It would be important to Tommy that his neighbors, friends, family and especially his sisters, Junie, Patty and Dot know how much he loved them.

Zvonimir “Bill” Hasija, 60

LIBERTY TOWNSHIP – There will be funeral services at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 14, at the Rossi Brothers & Lellio Funeral Home in Boardman, followed by a 10:30 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at SS. Peter and Paul Church, 421 Covington St., Youngstown, OH 44510 for Zvonimir “Bill” Hasija, 60, who passed away Sunday afternoon, Jan. 10.

Zvonimir was born Nov. 1, 1949 in Croatia, the son of Fabian and Magdalena Hasija.

He was employed as a Masonry Contractor for over 36 years. He was a member of the Brick Layer’s Union and the Croatian Fraternal Union.

Bill was a member of the church.

He will always be remembered by his daughters, Jasmina Hasija of Liberty Township, Melita (Dana) Bailes of Farmdale and Lydia Hasija of Killeen, Texas; a sister, Helen Bozic of Croatia; two brothers, Tom Hasija of Bazetta and Matt (Nada) Hasija of Liberty Township; six grandchildren, Anthony, Justin, Krista, Dominic, Kara and Alexa; three nieces, Maria Coric and family, Bridget Santoro and family, and Cathy Fulcher and family; three nephews, Miro Hasija and family, Mario Hasija and family and John Hasija and family; and his cats, Cash and Lucy.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Slava Hasija; and two brothers, John Ivan and Joseph Hasija.

Zigmunt Helminiak, 94

AUSTINTOWN – Zigmunt Helminiak, 94, went to be with the Lord Jesus Saturday afternoon, Jan. 9, 2010, at Shepherd of the Valley in Boardman.

Zigmunt, who was known to many as “Ziggy,” was born April 26, 1915 in Detroit, Mich., a son of the late Frank and Sophie Kapuscinski Helminiak, and came to this area with his family as a child.

He worked for Republic Steel for 37 years, retiring in 1979 as a welder.

Mr. Helminak enjoyed gardening and traveling. He made two trips to Poland with his wife and loved the time he spent there. He was an active member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Polish National Catholic Church. Ziggy and his wife volunteered for many church projects and activities.

His beloved wife of 65 years, Helen Kalwarczyk Helminak, whom he married May 31, 1941, passed away Nov. 12, 2006.

Ziggy leaves two sons, Frank (Linda) Helminiak of Adrian, Mich. and Jim Helminiak of Phoenix, Ariz.; three grandchildren, Sharon (Shane) Goodrow, David Helminiak and Dan (Gina) Helminiak; and eight great-grandchildren, Kayla, Austin Zigmunt and Joshua, Emily, Alyssa, Leah, Riley Ann and Nina.

Besides his wife, three brothers, Stanley, Henry, and Theodore Helminiak; a sister, Helen Plecha; and a great-great-granddaughter, Halie, are deceased.

Fred Stephen Kester Jr., 78

GIRARD - Prayers will be held Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home, Austintown Chapel followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Church for Fred Stephen Kester Jr., 78, who passed away Sunday morning at his home.

Fred was born April 9, 1931 in Juniata, Pa., the son of Fred S. and Ethel M. (Keith) Kester Sr.

Fred attended South High School. He was a veteran serving in the U.S. Navy and was stationed on the USS Kenneth D. Bailey.

Fred was a truck driver for CCC Motor Express for over 30 years and then became a driver with Brinks, where he retired in October of 2009. He was a former member of St. Patrick Church in Youngstown, where he was head usher and past president of the Men’s Club.

Fred was a member of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, where he was an usher. He was a 3rd Degree Knight with Msgr. Mears Council No. 3930 in Austintown and a 4th Degree Knight with Bishop Benedict C. Franzetta Assembly No. 846 in Girard. Fred was a member of the Tin Can Sailors and he attended the naval reunions every year. When his sons were younger, he was active in the Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts at St. Patrick Church.

Fred leaves his former wife, Patricia A. Kester of Youngstown; his five children, James S. (Liza) Kester of San Bernardino, Calif., David C. (Doug) Kester of Columbus, Patricia A. (Patrick) Canavan of Boardman, Karen L. (Brad) Fitzgerald of North Lima and Michelle C. Lightner of Girard; a sister, Jane Kunzer of South Carolina; his brother, James (Toni) Kester of Boardman; 11 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Fred was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Faye Kolesar.

The family will be receiving friends Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Dene Ron-Neil Montgomery, 30

YOUNGSTOWN – A funeral service celebrating the life of Mr. Dene Ron-Neil Montgomery, 30, who departed this life Jan. 2, 2010 will be held Wednesday at noon at the New Bethel Baptist Church.

Mr. Montgomery was born July 31, 1979 in Youngstown, a son of William Brown Jr. and Debra Montgomery.

He was a 1998 graduate of Wilson High School and he received an associate’s degree in computer electronics and engineering from ITT Technical Institute.

He was formerly employed as a Kirby salesperson for Bruco Inc., office assistant with Moore Medical Services, and as a computer technician with Marsh Bellofram in West Virginia, prior to returning to the valley.

He leaves to cherish his memory his parents; his stepmother, Sandra Mack; his wife, the former Martina Knight, whom he married July 15, 1999; a sister, Claudette Moore; three stepsisters, Natalie, Lynette and Janeen Mack; three brothers, Dwyain Montgomery, William (Kleen) Brown Jr. IV and William (Frankie) Mack; four special cousins, Tamara, Tyre, Jailyn and Precious Montgomery, all of Youngstown; and a host of other relatives and dear friends.

The family will receive friends Wednesday one hour prior to services at the church.

Eugene "Satch" Mowad, 71

ALIQUIPPA, PA. – Eugene “Satch” Mowad, 71, passed away Monday Jan. 11, 2010, at Heritage Valley in Beaver, surrounded by his loving family.

Born Feb. 15, 1938 in Aliquippa, he was a son of the late Saiad and Anna (Michael) Mowad.

Mr. Mowad was a retired employee of the blooming mill of LTV Steel-Aliquippa and the Zinc Corp. He was currently employed as a bus driver for the Aliquippa School District.

A 1957 graduate of Aliquippa High School, he was a member of St. Titus Catholic Church in Aliquippa and Ezio’s Morra League in Boardman.

He will be greatly missed by his wife of 46 years, Geraldine “Gerry” (Frioni) Mowad,; a son and daughter-in-law, Dr. Eugene and Lori Mowad of Poland; a daughter and son-in-law, Kelly and Carl Hughes-Hopewell; his three beloved granddaughters, Lidia, Rebecca and Rachel Mowad; three brothers and sisters-in-law, John and Millie Mowad of Center Township, Richard “Bear” and Barb Mowad of Hopewell Township, Edward and Judy Mowad of Aliquippa, two sisters and brothers-in-law, Carmella and George Girata of Hopewell Twp. and Vivian and Mike Godich of Florida; three sisters-in-law, Mary, Janice and Sally Mowad; and many loving nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Joseph, Thomas, Norman and Saiad “Skizzy” Mowad.

Friends will be received today from 6 to 8 p.m. and Wednesday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Tatalovich Funeral Home and Crematory Service Inc., 2205 McMinn St., in Aliquippa, where a service will be held Thursday at 9 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. at St. Titus Catholic Church in Aliquippa, with Fr. Paul Householder, his pastor, officiating.

Entombment will follow at Mt. Olivet Catholic Cemetery in Hopewell Twp.


Alexandro A. Poccia, 82

YOUNGSTOWN – There will be a Mass of Christian Burial held on Thursday, Jan. 14, 2010, at 10 a.m. at the Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Youngstown with the Very Rev. Msgr. Michael J. Cariglio officiating preceded by a 9:15 a.m. prayer service at the Rossi & Santucci Funeral Home, 4700 Market St. in Boardman, for Alexandro A. Poccia, 82, who passed away Monday afternoon, Jan. 11, 2010, with his loving family by his side.

Alexandro will always be remembered and loved by his family and friends.

He was born June 4, 1927 in Youngstown, the son of Antonio and Carmel (DeChalk) Poccia and was a lifelong resident.

He was a mill recorder at Republic Steel in Youngstown. Retiring after 30 years of service, he was the owner and operator of Al’s Pizza Shop on Indianola Avenue, across from Wilson High School for over 25 years. He enjoyed making pizza for the many students on their lunch breaks and after school. He was a member of the Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Youngstown and he was a 1946 graduate of East High School.

Alexandro enjoyed many things in his life, especially the dinners he had once a month with his brother and sisters. He enjoyed going to the Four Season’s Flea Market, he also enjoyed dancing, cooking, baking and watching cooking shows on television. He was skilled in woodworking and remodeling. But his greatest joy was spending time with his family.

His wife, Anne Elizabeth Zalac, whom he married Sept. 4, 1954, died Aug. 5, 1970.

He leaves behind to hold on to his memories, two daughters, Deborah Kilm of New Middletown and Toni Ann Chillock of Poland; a brother, Nicholas Poccia of Liberty; four sisters, Clotilda Comichesto of Girard, Justine Delillo of New Castle, Mariann (Ernest) Barker of Austintown and Pauline Patrick of Poland; three grandchildren, Jessica (Jeffrey) Dellinger of Columbus and Andrea M. and Justin L. Bovo of Poland; numerous nieces and nephews, along with his pet cat, “Coco.”

Friends may call on Wednesday, Jan. 13, 2010, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Rossi & Santucci Funeral Home, 4700 Market St. in Boardman.

Burial will take place at Calvary Cemetery.

Nettie L. Polony, 103

HUBBARD – There will be a Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday, Jan. 14, at 9:30 a.m. at St. Patrick Catholic Church for Nettie L. Polony, 103, who passed away Sunday, Jan. 10, at Liberty Health Care Center.

Nettie was born on Nov. 7, 1906 in Lowellville, a daughter of Charles and Marion Lello Rotz and was a lifelong area resident.

She was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, the Mt. Carmel Lodge of Lowellville and Hubbard Senior Citizens. She enjoyed cooking, baking, sewing, crocheting and then sharing with everyone she knew.

Her first husband, Frank Marcone, whom she married Sept. 23, 1923, passed away April 20, 1949; her second husband, Frank Polony, whom she married May 4, 1964, passed away March 12, 1974.

She leaves her daughters, Marie Lipinsky and Rose Mae DelFratte, both of Boardman and Catherine DeMatteo of Hubbard; 8 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandson. She also leaves her sister, Joann McBride of Niles.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands; her brothers, Sam, Lawrence, James and Fred; her sisters, Angeline Matricardi, Jeanette Celli, Cil DiLullo and Minnie Kosco; and son-in-laws, Ernest DeMatteo, Anthony DelFratte and Benjamin Lipinsky.

There will be calling hours on Wednesday, Jan. 13, from 5 to 8 p.m. and prayers at 9 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 14, at the Stewart-Kyle Funeral Home.

Burial will be at Hubbard Union Cemetery.

Helen Jean Repasky, 86

WILMINGTON – Helen Jean Repasky, 86, died at 2:05 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 9, 2010, at Clinton Memorial Hospital.

Her husband, Raymond G. Repasky, whom she married April 24, 1948, survives.

Mrs. Repasky was born Feb. 1, 1923 in Detroit, a daughter of the late Stanley and Ema Rugg Kowalski.

Mrs. Repasky received her nurse’s training in the Cadet Nurse Corps during World War II. While stationed at Crile Hospital in Cleveland, she met her husband, who was being treated following his return from military duty overseas.

In the 1960s, Mrs. Repasky was one of two nurses trained to oversee the first intensive care unit at Clinton Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Repasky retired from Clinton Memorial Hospital in 1983.

She was a member of St. Columbkille Catholic Church. She enjoyed all types of needlework and Polish cooking. She was an avid reader and loved animals. Mrs. Repasky always had a longing for knowledge. Consequently, she began taking computer classes in the 1970s. She was also trained in sign language.

In addition to her husband, Mrs. Repasky is survived by two sons, Stan Repasky of Oklahoma and Ted (Crystal Taylor) Repasky of Oregon; two daughters, Fran (Kevin) Tucker of Blanchester and Teresa (John) Ghazoul M.D. of Norwalk; and eight grandchildren, Casey, Courtney, Carson, Cassidy, Erika, Anthony, Emily and Adam.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 13, 2010, at St. Columbkille Catholic Church, 73 N. Mulberry St. in Wilmington, with the Rev. James M. Wedig officiating.

Burial will be at Sugar Grove Cemetery.

Donald Wayne Turner, 76

NEW BEDFORD – Donald Wayne Turner, 76, of Johnson Road, died Sunday, Jan. 10, 2010, comfortably at his home with his wife, Deloris, sister, Lois and son Douglas, by his side.

He was born May 18, 1933, in Stewart Township, Pa., the fifth of 13 children, to the late John William and Alverta “Sis” (Hall) Turner.

He married his childhood sweetheart and the love of his life, his beautiful Deloris Marie (Hiles) Turner on Dec. 19, 1955, after completing his tour of duty and being honorably discharged from the U.S. Army. They enjoyed 54 years of marriage together, recently celebrating their anniversary with a renewed love and commitment, and had three sons. Don was very proud of his service in the U.S. Army, having achieved the rank of Corporal. He was a veteran of the Korean conflict, receiving three Bronze Starts and serving with the 803rd MP Company.

He retired after 30 years from the Youngstown Sheet and Tube, as a bricklayer in the open hearth unit and served as the union shop steward and grievance boss.

He was a member of the Mahoning Sportsman Club and enjoyed hunting and fishing. Having a special attraction for animals, Don was a gentleman farmer, and appreciated his time spent outdoors with his garden and many pets over the years, most recently his dogs, Lucky, Elvis and his faithful companion, Milo, who honored him with a constant bedside vigil in his final days. He was also a member of the Bessemer VFW, and enjoyed the camaraderie of his fellow veterans, and served as their chaplain.

“Duck,” as he was affectionately known, is survived by his loving wife and caregiver, his devoted “Lori;” three sons; six siblings; and six grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and six siblings.

Visitation will be held at the William F. & Roger M. DeCarbo Funeral Home, 926 Cunningham Ave. in New Castle on Wednesday, Jan. 13, 2010, from 5 to 8 p.m.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, Jan. 14, 2010, at noon at the William F. DeCarbo Memorial Chapel. The Rev. William Shaffer will be officiating. The New Castle Area Honor Guard will perform Military Funeral Rites at the funeral home.

Burial will be at Neshannock Cemetery in New Wilmington.

Virginia Vaughn, 87

Youngstown- There are no services or calling hours for Virginia Vaughn, 87, who died Friday afternoon at St. Elizabeth Health Center in Youngstown.

She was born Feb. 15, 1922, in Youngstown, the daughter of Jeremiah and Mary (MacDonald) Vaughn, and she resided in this area all of her life.

She was a 1940 graduate of Youngstown South High School, and she worked as an assembler for the General Electric lamp plant for 45 years, retiring in the 1980s.

She enjoyed traveling, walking and hiking, and she loved her family.

She is survived by a nephew, Atty. Jack R. Vaughn of Youngstown and a niece, Nancy Bender of Knoxville, Tenn.

She was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers, Paul A., Samuel, and Raymond J. Vaughn.

Mary A. Young, 93

AUSTINTOWN – Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 10 a.m. at the Vaschak-Kirila Funeral Home, with the very Rev. Edward Noga officiating for Mary A. Young, 93, who entered into rest Monday morning at her home.

Mary was born Dec. 31, 1916, in Youngstown, the daughter of the late Fred J. Sr. and Margaret J. (Breese) Mincher.

She was a 1938 graduate of Boardman High School, and was a member of St. Patrick’s Church.

Mary retired as a sales clerk in the houseware department at the Joseph Horne Co., and she had also worked at the Fanny Farmer Candy Co., Crystal Bakery and at G.M. McKelvey Co.

Her husband, Clarence C. Young, whom she married in 1939, passed away in 1944.

Mary will be sadly missed by many, including her son, Edward Young of Austintown; two brothers, Fred Mincher Jr. of Struthers and John Mincher of Kansas City; a sister, Donna Keslar of Austintown; and her friend, Larry Grbinick, also of Austintown.

Besides her parents and husband, Mary was preceded in death by a granddaughter; a sister, Vivian Chatham; a brother, Edward Mincher; and a nephew, David Chatham.

Friends may call on Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Vaschak-Kirila Funeral Home.
