Canfield tops Fitch



CANFIELD — Noelle Fox scored two goals Saturday as the Canfield High girls soccer team defeated Fitch, 2-0.

Cassie Seeman netted one goal while Molly Martin and Kaley Donovan each had an assist to lead Canfield (4-1-1)

Canfield goalkeeper Anokha Padubidri didn't have any saves as the Cardinals turned in a strong defensive performance..

Fitch goalkeeper Cara Calai made 11 saves.

JVs: Canfield, 2-0.

West Branch 4, Springfield 2

NEW MIDDLETOWN — Lisa Bell scored two goals for the Warriors (3-3). Taylor Kring and Cassie Snoddy also scored goals while Emily Rekolt had an assist.

Warriors goalkeepers Jordan Manser and Tammy Pellamen combined for six saves.

For Springfield (4-4), Allyson Berry scored both goals and Carrie Ritzler had an assist. Heather Kozak made 20 saves in goal.

JVs: West Branch, 2-0.

Champion 6, Bristol 0

CHAMPION — Brittany Skeels had three goals and one assist to lead Champion (3-2-1).

Heather Beachy added two goals and one assist while Erika Stevens delivered one goal with two assists to reinforce the Golden Flashes, which turned in a strong defensive performance.

Bristol (2-5) had only one shot at the goal but it fell short, and Champion goalkeeper Beth Sayers didn't have any saves.

Bristol goalkeeper Heidi Ulrich had nine saves.

Boys

YOUNGSTOWN — Forward Giovanni Borgia had three goals as Ursuline defeated United, 9-1.

Midfielder Justin Mihaly and forward Vlad Lungu had two goals while midfielders Corey Mihaly and Jonathan Eusaino added one goal apiece for the Irish (4-5) at the Wick Recreation Area.

Each Mihaly had two assists while Lungu, Borgia and senior Nick Clowes had an assist apiece.

Lucas Jablonski had the goal for United, whose goalkeeper, Spencer Widlicka, made 17 saves. John Colla had one save for Ursuline, which outshot the Golden Eagles, 26-2.

Ursuline plays at Hubbard on Saturday at 7 p.m.

Northwest Canal Fulton 5,
South Range 2

NORTH LIMA — Five players scored for Northwest Canal Fulton: Seth Miracle, Tony Paris, Gavin Moyes, Chris Koy and Tyler Haberny.

Mark Johnson scored both goals for South Range (1-6-1) while goalkeeper Luke Yeagley made 11 saves.

Mathews 4, Warren Christian 2

WARREN — Sean Kail scored a goal and had an assists for the Mustangs (2-5). Jake Klinger also had a goal and an assist. Stephan Spadafore and Josh Pumphreys each had a goal. Julie Carr, Tim McLaughlin had an assist apiece. Brett Ford, goalkeeper, had 22 saves.

Frank Powell scored both goals for the Eagles. Erak Chistofis had an assist. Goalkeeper Michael White had 34 saves.
