Notes: The Penguins won their second straight game Saturday, beating Detroit 55-39 at Beeghly Center. This is the team's longest win streak of the season. The Penguins overcame a poor offensive first half in which they scored just 15 points, but played well defensively holding Detroit to just eight points. The Penguins trail the Panthers 11-5 in the overall series including dropping two games to them a year ago 64-59 at home and 67-44 in Milwaukee. The Panthers had a three-game winning streak snapped by UW-Green Bay Saturday, 85-70 in Green Bay, their first conference defeat. Milwaukee had beaten Loyola (73-72), UIC (86-79) and Detroit (77-67) prior to the loss. UWM's sophomore Traci Edwards is the leading scorer (18.2 ppg.) and rebounder (9.4) in the Horizon League.
Up next: The Penguins will stay on the road Saturday when they travel to league leading UW-Green Bay for a 4 p.m. tip-off.
