BELOIT — The West Branch girls basketball team put 12 players in the scoring column as the Warriors upended Louisville St. Thomas Aquinas 71-17 Wednesday in the West Branch High gymnasium.

The Warriors (8-4) rushed out to a 17-2 lead in the first quarter and increased that margin to 37-9 by halftime as St. Thomas Aquinas (0-13) never threatened.

The Warriors dominated throughout the contest and had a 34-20 rebounding advantage with Kelsey Wartluft pulling down seven.

Amanda Stiffler sparked the Warriors with 16 points. Cassi Snoddy chipped in with 15.

Howland 73, Campbell 21

CAMPBELL — Howland held Campbell to four points in the first quarter, seven in the second and one in the third in cruising to victory.

Ellie Shields scored 26 points for the Tigers (10-2), while Alexa Williams added 14 and Kelly Belzak 11. Howland had a 29-11 rebounding advantage.

Struthers 39, Niles 28

STRUTHERS — The Wildcats (4-8, 1-5) held the Red Dragons (1-11, 1-5) scoreless in the second quarter to lead 20-9 at intermission in the Metro Athletic Conference game in the Struthers Field House.

Dana Mathews sparked the Wildcats with 14 points and Liz Valerio added 11. Amanda Binion led Niles with nine points.

Canfield 73, East Liverpool 35

CANFIELD — A 26-0 first-period lead and 44-4 halftime bulge enabled Canfield to extend its winning streak to 10 with a Metro Athletic Conference victory over East Liverpool.

Juniors Kate Popovec and Bryanne Halfhill had 16 and 14 points, respectively, for the Cardinals (10-0, 6-0 MAC), who are averaging 63 points per game, while allowing 32 per contest. Freshman Jill Halfhill had all 11 of her points in the first quarter. Jackie Glista is the team's only senior.

Popovec also grabbed 11 rebounds, while Meliisa West, a junior, snagged eight rebounds. Canfield had a 51-21 advantage on the boards, mostly on the defensive end.

Kat Ammon's 12 points led East Liverpool.

On Saturday, Canfield entertains Poland.
