In game delayed one day, Mount Union rolls, 58-0
ALLIANCE A one-day delay couldn't stop Mount Union.
The Purple Raiders overwhelmed Heidelberg 58-0 in an Ohio Athletic Conference on Sunday in a game that was scheduled for Saturday but was postponed due to bad weather.
"Obviously, morale was down because of the delay, but we had to stay focused and we came in ready to play," said Raider tailback Nate Kmic.
Mount Union (4-0, 3-0) had 313 yards at the break compared to 35 yards for Heidelberg (0-4, 0-3). Quarterback Mike Jorris was 10 of 17 for 118 yards with two touchdowns and an interception. Kmic ran for 126 yards on 12 carries with two scores. Pierre Garcon hauled in four receptions for 65 yards and two TDs.
"We really met our goals today offensively," said Raider head coach Larry Kehres. "Our first teams played crisply in the first half, and we were very happy with our young guys in the second half. To this point in the season, we're very pleased with what we've seen."

MONROE, La. Florida Atlantic quarterback Sean Clayton, a Poland High graduate, went 12-of-18 for 164 yards and a touchdown on Saturday to help the Owls edge by Louisiana-Monroe, 21-19, and win its Sun Belt Conference opener.
The win was the Owls (1-4) first against Louisiana-Monroe in three tries and their first of the season.
Louisiana-Monroe (1-3) out-gained FAU in total offense, 407-336, but could not overcome two turnovers and six penalties.
After Kinsmon Lancaster, the Warhawks' quarterback, went down with an injury, Chance Payne filled in and completed 11-of-20 passes for 160 yards and a fourth quarter touchdown to wide receiver Darrell McNeal that closed the scoring at 21-19.
