Salem, Hubbard, Liberty advance in volleyball
Girard, United and Mineral Ridge also were winners.
BOARDMAN Amy Scullion had seven aces and six kills, leading the top-ranked Salem High volleyball team over Akron East in a Division II sectional match at Boardman High School.
The scores were 25-6, 25-10, 25-7.
Katie Scullion had two aces and eight kills for the Quakers (23-0) while Taylor Toothman had eight aces and 15 assists.
Robin Williams scored three points for Akron East (1-23).

BOARDMAN Brittany Woodward and Kayla Carson each scored 10 points for the Pirates (16-7).
Jennifer Bna and Nicole Scoot scored seven points apiece for the Ravens.

JEFFERSON At Jefferson High School, Hubbard defeated Niles (25-8, 25-6, 25-10) and Liberty defeated Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin (25-22, 25-23, 25-19).
Division I
STOW Chaney was defeated 25-7, 25-10, 25-11 by Stow in a Div. I sectional match.

SALEM Aysha Nickels scored 20 points and had nine kills and five assists for Girard in a 25-9, 25-7, 25-9 win over Badger at Salem High School.
Also for the Indians (14-9), Chelsea Guerrieri had six kills, seven points and three digs. Olivia Bucci had seven points, four kills, four aces and a block.
The Braves ended their season 0-10.

LISBON Heather Reinhart scored 12 points and had eight kills for Mineral Ridge, which defeated East Canton (25-17, 25-19, 25-18) in a sectional match at Lisbon.
Jenna Spackman had 25 assists and Megan Ben had nine points and two aces for the Rams (3-20).
Courtney Mitchell led East Canton with six points and an ace. Grace Spaulding had 11 kills and two blocks.
