Hubbard cruises past Girard to nab TAC title



Hannah Snyder had two goals in Ursuline's win.

GIRARD — Liz Crafton and Ashley Bruce scored three goals apiece as the Hubbard High girls soccer team defeated Girard 8-0 on Tuesday to win the Trumbull Athletic Conference title.

Jill Roseberry and Bonnie Besze had a goal apiece for the Eagles (7-5-1, 4-0-1). Jordana Lima and Bruce each had three assists.

Hubbard had 17 shots on goal and Girard had none. The Indians' Ashley Esposito had nine saves.

JVs: Hubbard 4-0.

Ursuline 7, Maplewood 2

YOUNGSTOWN — Hannah Snyder had two goals, while Kelsey Price added a goal and two assists for the Irish (5-4-2).

Geralyn Tondo-Steele, Elizabeth Emanuel, Rena Hinebaugh and Katie Young also scored, while Katelyn Tondo-Steele had two assists and Kaila Buckley had one.

Tori Spencer scored both goals for the Rockets (7-3).

Canfield 5, W. Branch 1

CANFIELD — Junior Noelle Fox had three goals, while junior Audra Frimpong and freshman Jill Halfhill had the other goals for Canfield (8-3-1).

The Cardinals led 2-1 at the half, until Frimpong increased the lead to 3-1, followed by goals by Fox and Halfhill.

Canfield's assists were by senior Jill Terreri and freshman Audrey Smith.

Tina Herold scored for West Branch with Cassi Snoddy assisting.

Anohka Padubidri had three saves for Canfield, while Pami Pelleman stopped 16 shots for West Branch.

JVs: Canfield 2, West Branch 0.

Boys
Canfield 4, Niles 0

NILES — Nick Benedetto, Kyle Reese, Kevin Buck and Eric Arden each scored a goal for Canfield in a Metro Athletic Conference game.

Buck, Kevin Ricks, Jason Murdoch and Will Ferrando had assists for the Cardinals (10-1-1, 9-1-1), who have seven shutouts this season.

Ryan Gregory had eight saves for Niles.

Mass. Jackson 5, Boardman 2

BOARDMAN — T.J. Hosa and Anthony Pasquale had goals for Boardman.
