GIRLS
DIVISION I

Canfield 2, Canton GlenOak 0

CANFIELD — Devin Shryock and Audra Frimpong scored a goal apiece to lead Canfield in a sectional first-round game in the Cardinals' stadium. Canfield (8-6-3) had 29 shots on goals and GlenOak had three. Anokha Padubidri and Kelly Fening had one and two saves respectively for the Cardinals. Nicki Becks had 15 saves for the Golden Eagles. Canfield will play the winner of the North Canton Hoover-Lake game Saturday in Stark County.

Boardman 7, Canton McKinley 0

BOARDMAN — Jaime Avona scored two goals for the Spartans (12-1-4) at the Spartan soccer field. Chloe Zidian had a goal and assist, Jenn Libbey had a goal and assist and Kristy Lake, Jessica Winters Lea Byers each scored a goal.

Poland 2, Fitch 0

AUSTINTOWN — Sam Robertson had a goal and an assist while Taylor Marucci had the other goal and Becky Hanna an assist to lead Poland over Fitch. Poland (9-5-3) goalie Pam Shure had seven saves while Fitch (10-5-2) goalie Ali Tolich had eight saves. Poland advanced to a sectional final against Boardman Saturday at Boardman at 4 p.m.

West Branch 2, Kent Roosevelt 1

KENT — Alex Long got an assist from Taylor Kring and Kring scored unassisted to snap a 1-1 for West Branch, which plays the Hudson-Coventry winner Saturday at 3 p.m. Taylor Murphy tallied for Roosevelt to tie the game on a free kick. Roosevelt goalie Abby Bradford recorded five saves for Roosevelt, while Tami Pelleman had nine saves for West Branch.

DIVISION II

Warren JFK 2, Springfield 1

WARREN — Jerrica Cooper scored two goals in leading the Eagles' (8-5-4) to a sectional semifinal victory. Kellie Guanieri and Erin McBride scored a goal apiece. Kellie Kovac, Gina Gelsomino and McBride each had an assist. Katie Bretz scored the goal for the Tigers (11-6-1) on an assist from Carrie Ritzler. Helena Democopolous had eight saves for the Eagles and Heaher Cozak had 10 for the Tigers. Warren JFK will play at Champion in a district in a sectional final Saturday at 7 p.m.
