Reader comments from Vindy.com A lot of Vindy.com readers weighed in on Kelly...

From billy
"Couldn't have happened to a nicer guy. Way to go Kelly, congratulations. You are a great fighter and an inspiration to all young athletes in Ohio! Congrats Kelly! You are a great representative of both Youngstown and the Mahoning Valley. Thanks for being such a great role model to our youth. In addition, Mr. Taylor showed great respect in his post fight interview. Lets get the mayor to hold a massive parade to welcome you back to the city!"

From ger
"Was at fight last night. I'm a Pavlik fan from upstate New York was thrilled to see Kelly win. Anyway he deserves his win and Youngstown must be one hell of a place. By the way next on his heels will be a fighting Irish man by the name of John Duddy."

From HAIRDRESSERFILBERT
"God bless you Kelly! We are very proud of you. You and your family are what families are about! Love and honesty. We are honored to have you represent us!"

From glcorey
"Congrats Kelly and all of Youngstown! Columbus was watching and we were all praying for you. Your a good kid and a hard worker, you deserved this win. God Bless."

From ytownincbus
"Congratulations Kelly, Tremendous heart and determination, the fabric in which this town is built. You did us all proud."

From Yess!
"Before the match started, I said he would knock him out in the 7th round! Congrats Kelly!"

From TOM
"Awesome fight. Way to represent Kelly!"

From lesonforValley
"There is a lesson for the entire Valley here — Pavlik was on the mat in the second round and could have given up (no one would have blamed him if he did). Instead of giving up Kelly calmly told his trainers in the corner that he was okay. He didn't go timidly into the third round; he went in and took command of the fight! If you're down, get up and keep fighting! Don't let one slip up take you off your goal! Great job, Kelly! You did Youngstown proud! And you are definitely Youngstown tough! The PEOPLES champion!"

From Fellow Lowellville graduate
"Yay Kelly! You did it! You came from little Youngstown and graduated from Lowellville High School just like me. You showed the world that when you really want something and you put your mind to it you can do it! Congratulations! Hats off to your endurance and strength. We are so proud of you!"

From snickers228
"Congratulations Kelly! We are all so very proud of you. You have more heart than anyone I know. Your future is bright and only going to get brighter!"

From WayTaGo
"Congratulations Kelly Pavlik! I'm sure Taylor's gonna try to get that title back, but now he knows what he's up against. Great job! Keep up the good work."

From Nice
"Nice to see some good news come out of my old hometown. I hope you guys give him a great victory parade and party. I hope he displays his championship belt so all can see. When I lived up there I remember the great Golden Gloves matches with Villers, Richardson, Mancini, Arroyo. Phiffer, Rosenberger, etc. Struthers Field House was SRO every Tuesday night for those fights and it was a great atmosphere. I know the area is a bit down and out however this a beautiful night for everyone in the Mahoning Valley."
