YOUNGSTOWN John Hay pitched a three-hitter while Adam Cox slugged a homer and double and drove in three runs, as Roth Brothers blanked Youngstown Metros, 8-0, to win the championship of the Class AA League best-of-five series Wednesday at Pemberton-Donnell Park.
George Rohan added a triple, double and one RBI to aid Roth Brothers, which took the series, 3-2.
Sean Wardle had a double and one RBI and Jim Putko a pair of singles to help the winners.
Starter John Warren took the loss for the Metros, giving up five hits and five runs over three innings.

Tuesday, Joe Irwin scattered eight hits over eight innings as Youngstown Metros edged Roth Brothers, 2-1.
Armani Johnson walked leading off the bottom of the eighth inning. He moved to second on an error and scored the deciding run for Metros on a single by Tom Clayton.
C.J. Morris of Metros was hit by a pitched ball leading off the bottom of the seventh. He moved to second on a ground out and scored on a single by John Warren to tie the scored 1-1.
With two out in the top of the third inning, Eric Barone, Eric Jones and Wardle hit successive singles. Mike Sikorsky walked forcing in Barone for Roth Brothers' only run of the game.
Clayton hit three singles and John Mang to singles for the Metros. Jones hit a double and two singles for Roth Brothers.
Warren AA
WARREN Lance Townsend singled twice and drove in four runs, and Champion Marlins took advantage of nine errors by Girard Hardware for an 11-5 victory in Game 2 of their playoff series at Packard Park.
Mike Sweeney added two hits and two RBIs for Champion, which evened the series at 1-1. Tom Popadak hit a double.
John St. John was the winning pitcher, allowing three runs (two earned) and six hits in six innings. He struck out seven.
Joe Cvengros, Kevin Nastase and Brandon Keck all had two hits to lead Girard, and Nick Cantarino had two RBIs.
