Softball team
to host youth
CANFIELD The Youngstown State softball program, in conjunction with Little League International, will hold Little League Softball Day at McCune Park Saturday, when the Penguins play host Loyola in a Horizon League doubleheader. First pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m.
Little Leaguers, their parents and volunteers can attend the games for free. The players can come dressed in their jerseys and following the games will be permitted onto the field to meet the players and coaches.
St. Anthony's bocce
STRUTHERS St. Anthony defeated Antonelli Construction, 15-8, 15-10, to win the winter St. Anthony's Bocce League.
Team members are Vince Genova, Tony Iamurri, Dave Donatelli, Giulio Campana, Tom George and Tony Quattro.
Bowling fund-raiser

BOARDMAN The Youngstown alumnae chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. is sponsoring a "Friends and Family Bowling FUNraiser" at Camelot Lanes, May 27.
The event, beginning at 6 p.m., includes two hours of bowling, shoes, snack voucher and gift drawing. Per person cost is $15. For more, call Crystal Davis (330) 518-1609.

HARTFORD Racing returns to Sharon Speedway Saturday in five divisions Warren Harley-Davidson Sprints, Gibson-Governor Insurance V-8 Modifieds, Coy Brothers Trucking E-Mods, Tom's Sewer & Drain Service Pure Stocks and Limited Sprints.
Tickets are $11 for adults and $5 for kids 12-15.
Gates open at 4 p.m. and racing starts at 6 p.m.

MERCER, Pa. Racing will be held at Mercer Raceway Park Saturday night.
The Luxaire Heating & Cooling Sprint Cars, American Racer/Lias Tire Modifieds, Tire Express Stock Cars, Big Daddy's Speed Center Mod Lites, and the M&D Paving Mini Stocks will continue their championship point chases with racing at 7 p.m.
Admission is $11 for adults and $1 for students 6-15.
Grove City water polo

GROVE CITY, Pa. The Grove City College women's water polo team will participate in the Collegiate III National Championships Friday through Sunday at the University of California-Santa Cruz.
It is Grove City's (16-16) sixth trip to the nationals in the last seven years.

LIBERTY Amber Dressel, daughter of Ray and Cindy Dressel, won the PKC Ohio state championship in Kumite (sparring) recently.
Amber, who is a student at Al Sterchi's GTA Karate Studio in Girard, has won many awards.
GTA is ranked No. 1 nationally in the PKC.

COLUMBUS ABC and ESPN will broadcast five Ohio State football games this fall, including three prime-time road games against Big Ten conference opponents.
The Buckeyes play at Minnesota Sept. 29, at Purdue Oct. 6 and at Penn State Oct. 27, all at 8 p.m.
All games will be shown on either ABC, ESPN or ESPN2.
ABC is also scheduled to broadcast Ohio State at Washington Sept. 15, starting at 3:30 p.m., and an Oct. 20 game against Michigan State in Columbus, starting at 3:30 p.m.
