NOTEBOOK YSU vs. Illinois State

A night out: For the second week in a row the Penguins spent the night before their playoff game at the Boardman Holiday Inn. Then received a huge parade to the stadium, led by at least a dozen police cruisers and a Youngstown fire truck.
Out of action: The Penguins were without junior starting offensive guard Josh Tanner and junior defensive back Vince Gliatta for Saturday's contest. Gliatta didn't even dress and was not on the roster after suffering a broken bone in his finger last week. Tanner was dressed and on the sidelines, but was replaced by senior John Foster. Tanner injured his ankle last week against James Madison.
Lights out: The Penguins turned out the stadium lights at halftime so that fans could see a fireworks display by Phantom Fireworks, then the game was held up several minutes as they had to wait for the lights to come back up to full strength.
Up next: The Penguins now must face No. 1 seeded and defending national champion Appalachian State next weekend. Appalachian State defeated Montana State, 38-17, in a quarterfinal game Saturday and will host the Penguins in Boone, N.C. The contest will be held either Friday night or Saturday which will be determined today at 5 p.m.
