No. 17 Walsh drops Saint Francis, 85-78
NORTH CANTON Adam Lesch and Corey Jones combined for 48 points to lead Walsh University to an 85-78 win over Saint Francis (Ind.) Tuesday night.
The win snapped a one-game skid for the 17th-ranked Cavaliers (6-3).
Walsh trailed 26-19 with 7:05 to play in the first half, when the Cavs went on a 17-4 spurt to take a 36-30 halftime lead. Lesch scored 14 of his career-high 28 points in the first half. Walsh never trailed in the second half and led by as many as 12 points (56-44) with 11:03 to play, when the No. 14 Cougars (8-2) cut the lead to one-point at 66-65 on a basket by Mike Steinau. Corey Jones then drilled one of his five 3-pointers to push the lead back to four points (69-65). The Cougars would climb to within two points at 69-67, but would get no closer.
Jones added 20 points and Brandon Weems scored 10 with nine assists. Derek Chappell also scored 10 points.
Dusty Buelcer led St. Francis with 23 points off the bench.
