Hiram 61, Oberlin 56
HIRAM The Hiram College women's basketball team was defeated by Oberlin College in a North Coast Athletic Conference game at Price Gymnasium. In the first half, Hiram took a one-point lead, 15-14, on a jumper by senior forward Cassie Bedard at the 7:24 mark. Oberlin responded with a 9-0 run that ended in a basket by Monica Zellat giving the Yeowomen a 23-15 lead. The Terriers tied the game at 25-25 with 29 seconds left in the half, but Oberlin's Alyssa Clark scored on a layup as time expired giving the Yeowomen a slim 27-25 advantage at halftime. In the second half, Oberlin led by as many as seven points with 14:43 left in the game. Hiram regained the lead 51-48 after a 6-0 run. Oberlin battled back to tie the game at 56-56 with 47 seconds to go. Following a missed free-throw and a missed basket by Hiram, Oberlin connected on what turned out to be the game-winning three-pointer with 14 seconds to go. Stephanie Zunic, a Canfield High graduate, scored 11 points for the Terriers, who lost for the fourth straight in falling 6-16 overall and 1-12 in the NCAC). Bedard led Hiram with 20 points.
Slippery Rock 52, Edinboro 43
SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. The Rock, behind 20-15 at halftime, outscored Edinboro 37-23 in the second half. Amanda Nero (Lowellville) led the Rock (9-13, 3-5) balanced attack with 13 points. Chere Marshall and Nijha McNeely chipped in with 11 apiece. McNeely grabbed six rebounds, while Marshall had three steals. Rae Sherred led Edinboro with 20 points.

WOOSTER The Hiram College men's basketball team was defeated by No. 5 nationally-ranked the College of Wooster, 90-73 in a North Coast Athletic Conference game at Timken Gymnasium. With the loss, the Terriers drop to 7-15 overall and 6-7 in the NCAC. Wooster improves to 19-3 overall and 12-1 NCAC. Hiram kept the game close throughout first half never trailing by more than nine points on two occasions. Wooster ended the first half on an 11-0 to give the Fighting Scots a commanding 42-27 lead at halftime. In the second half, Wooster led by as many as 30 points at 81-51. Hiram cut the lead to 16 points at 86-70 with a pair of free-throws by junior forward Michael McDevitt, a Lisbon High graduate. That would be as close as the Terriers would get as Wooster went on to cruise to the victory. Wooster had five players score in double figures led by Evan Will with 15 points.
Hiram was led by McDevitt with 22 points. Freshman guard Ian McGuire (Windham) and sophomore forward Ian Pfouts were the only other Terrier players in double figures with 14 points each. Pfouts grabbed a team-high nine rebounds.
Edinboro 76, Slippery Rock 64
SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. The Rock (2-6, 5-18) trailed 30-26 at halftime and wasn't able to catch up to Edinboro (15-8, 5-3).
Joesph Vines sparked the Rock with 18 points. Glenn Reepmeyer added 17 and Kenny Smith finished with 12. Daron Tielsch led Edinboro with 18 points. Curtis Ingram chipped in with 16 and Joseph Jones had 10.
