7th-inning explosion lifts Scrappers to win

James Brettl improved to 3-0 for Mahoning Valley.

ABERDEEN, Md. — A three-run seventh inning sent the Mahoning Valley Scrappers to an 8-2 victory Friday over the Aberdeen Firebirds.

Mathew Brown's two-run triple was the big hit in the inning. He finished with three hits (two of them triples) and three RBIs.

Also with three hits was Justin Jenkins. Alex Castillo and Jeff Hehr had two each.

Scrappers starter Heath Taylor tossed five innings, allowing one run. James Brettl (3-0) relieved him and earned the win.

The Scrappers' three-game series continues with a game tonight at 7:05 p.m.
