Paddock helps Hubbard to win; Champion loses first of the year
Brookfield, Liberty and Lakeview also won league games.
CHAMPION The Hubbard High girls basketball team made seven of its 10 shots in Thursday's fourth quarter to defeat Champion, 40-36.
Tressa Scahill scored all of her five points in the final quarter as the Eagles (3-2, 1-1 Trumbull Athletic Conference) outscored the Golden Flashes, 17-12.
Sophie Paddock scored 17 points for the Eagles.
For Champion (5-1, 1-1), Elizabeth Ghindia scored 23 points and pulled down 12 of 40 rebounds.
Brookfield 58, LaBrae 12
BROOKFIELD Kodi Brenner scored 23 points and Kelly Jones netted 20 for the Warriors (4-1, 2-0 TAC).
Morgan Bonekovic scored six for Brookfield.
Angelica Pugh led the Vikings with four points.
Liberty 61, Girard 30
LIBERTY The Leopards, behind by three points after the first period, bounced back to lead 48-25 after three quarters.
Kotchy Neskovich, who grabbed nine rebounds, and Michelle Dykes scored 14 and 13 points to spark the Leopards. Cynthia Walker paced the Indians (0-6, 0-2 TAC) with 14 points and she grabbed 10 rebounds.
Lakeview 72, Newton Falls 38
CORTLAND Lakeview High put four players in double figurers.
Chelsea Butler led the Bulldogs (6-0, 2-0 TAC) with 17 points, while Jen Baker and Joanna Novotny each scored 14 and Alynn Martin added 12.
The Tigers (3-2, 0-2), who trailed 37-14 at halftime, were paced by Emily Montgomery with 12 points.
Newton Falls made just 17 of 58 shots and was outrebounded 42-35. Martin had 12 rebounds for Lakeview.
Springfield 45, South Range 41
NEW MIDDLETOWN Whitney Yeager scored 13 points and pulled down 17 rebounds to lead Springfield past South Range.
The Tigers (3-3, 2-2 Inter Tri-County League Tier One) battled from behind in the second half to pull out the victory. Carrie Ritzler had six assists and four steals for Springfield.
South Range (3-3, 0-2) was led by Autumn Carter with 17 points.
Lisbon 61, Mineral Ridge 37
LISBON The Blue Devils (4-2) put 10 players in the scoring column as they prevailed in the ITCL Tier One contest.
Eric Sims paced Lisbon with 25 points and she was 7-of-8 at the foul line. She also grabbed 10 rebounds.

Leetonia 32
BERLIN CENTER Lainey Kekic made the winning shot for the Blue Devils (3-4, 1-2 Tier Two) with eight seconds remaining.
Kekic scored a game-high 17 points while freshman Claire Ferrando grabbed 10 rebounds. Gina Jones led the Bears (1-6, 0-3) with 14 points.
Jackson-Milton 51, Sebring 34
SEBRING Jessica Balent scored 12 points to lead the Bluejays.
Jillian Adams scored 10 points while Elizabeth Hughes had nine points and seven rebounds. Carrie Fiol scored six points, pulled down nine rebounds and made five assists and seven steals.
For Sebring (3-3, 1-2 ITCL Tier Two), Megan Allcorn scored 10 points and pulled down 10 rebounds.
Wellsville 48, Southern 32
WELLSVILLE The Tigers (2-2, 2-0) stingy defense limited the Indians (1-4) to 12 points in taking a commanding 38-12 lead heading in the fourth quarter.
P.J. Williams sparked the Tigers with 15 points. Emily Ramsey and Cerra Grim each scored nine points for the Indians.

SHARON, Pa. The Irish (2-3) used a strong defense to prevail as they led 28-22 after the third quarter.
Arielle Washington scored a game-high 19 points for the Irish. Danielle Crafter grabbed 10 rebounds.
Howland 97, Chaney 21
HOWLAND The Tigers broke records for team scoring and first-quarter points (35). The Tigers raced out to a 35-4 lead and were ahead 57-6 at intermission.
Ellie Shields sparked the Tigers with 33 points, while Alexa Williams had a career-high 26. Both girls grabbed 10 rebounds as Howland outrebounded Chaney 44-19.
The Cowboys (1-4) were led by Alyssa Sykes with eight points.
Warren JFK 43, Alliance 28
WARREN Michelle Chaves scored 17 points to lead the Golden Eagles.
Samantha Brys scored four points and hauled in 11 of Warren JFK's 27 rebounds.
Southington 43, Lordstown 35
LORDSTOWN The Red Devils (2-4, 1-1) kept it close (35-30) for three quarters, but were outscored 8-5 in the final period.
Brianna Blodgett led Lordstown with 16 points and she grabbed 10 rebounds. Lindsay Harrison chipped in with 10 points.
