Bert M. Floyd Sr., 87

YOUNGSTOWN – Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. at St. Peters Baptist Church for Mr. Bert M. Floyd Sr., 87, who departed this life Friday, Jan. 2, 2010, at Forum Health Northside Medical Center.
Mr. Floyd was born Dec. 28, 1922 in Chesterfield, S.C., a son of Cyrus and Alice Crawford Floyd.
He worked for Youngstown Sheet & Tube Co. for 38 years, retiring in 1982. He was a Deacon and member of the church, a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars, was a past president of Park Hill Block Watch and was 1st Sgt. in the U.S. Army during World War II.
He leaves his wife, the former Elsie M. Dixon, who he married June, 5, 1952; children, Bernita M. Floyd of Youngstown and Bertram M. Floyd Jr. of Sheffield Village; and grandchildren, Pamela B. and Ronald C. Floyd Jr. of Youngstown and Brittany Floyd of South Euclid.
Besides his parents, a son, Ronald C. Floyd Sr.; two sisters, Willene Betts and Leona Harris; and a brother, Melvin Floyd preceded him in death.
Viewing will be from noon to 4 p.m. today at the F.D. Mason Memorial Funeral Home Inc.
