Elizabeth Kansa, 85

POLAND — There will be services at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Mahoning United Methodist Church for Elizabeth Kansa, 85, formerly of Youngstown, who passed away Saturday evening at Hospice House Care Center in Poland.
Elizabeth was born Sept. 3, 1921 in Palin, Czechoslovakia, the daughter of Ladislav and Theresa (Ihnatko) Egri and came to New York City as an infant and to the Youngstown area in 1951.
She was a homemaker and mother as well as a member of the church for more than 50 years, where she was a Sunday School teacher for 25 years. She was also active in the Priscilla and Johanna Circles, the Women In God Service and the Wesmeth Class at the church, along with many other church organizations. She was involved in the Cub Scouts and was a former den mother in the past. She was also a very active volunteer within the Youngstown area. She was involved in a family catering service for several years.
Her husband, Michael Kansa, whom she married Sept. 25, 1943, passed away Sept. 10, 1994.
She leaves three sons, Robert M. (Susan) of Mentor, Ronald A. of Austintown and Richard J. of Cleveland; two sisters, Irene Palaygi of New Jersey, and Helen Kretiv and a brother, Michael “Mickey” Paloy, both of Pennsylvania; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Ethel Tokar.
Family and friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the Lane Funeral Home, Austintown Chapel and from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at the church.
