Leonard S. Rich, 64
NEW CASTLE, PA. Leonard S. Rich, 64, of 535 Kingswood Drive, died Saturday at Jameson Hospital North in New Castle.
He was the son of the late Leonard Rich and Rose (Marino) Rich.
He was employed by the Laurel School District as an educational consultant. He had previously served the school district as a teacher of math and Latin. He became principal, then superintendent. He was also a head football coach and assisted in coaching basketball and baseball. In addition, Leonard served as athletic director at Laurel.
He was a member of St. Vitus Catholic Church and the New Castle Rotary Club No. 89 and was past president of the New Castle Greater Chamber of Commerce.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia A. (Ambrosia) Rich; a daughter, Lisa Rich of New Castle; two sons, Leonard A. and Monica Rich of New Castle and Jonathan E. Rich of Dayton; a sister, Lenore Rich Sumner of New Castle; a half brother, Joseph Rich of Pittsburgh; and five grandchildren, Nicolas, Emmalee and Olivia Rich and Alexis Prejsnar and Samuel Myers, all of New Castle.
Arrangements are being handled by the R. Cunningham Funeral Home, 2429 Wilmington Road, New Castle, where the family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today and from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday.
A procession will leave the funeral home Thursday at 9:30 a.m. for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Vitus Catholic Church with the Rev. Father John Petrarulo officiating.
Interment will be at Parkside Memorial Cemetery in New Castle.
