Lucinda “Cindy” McElroy, 79

YOUNGSTOWN – Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at the Greater Calvary Baptist Church for Lucinda “Cindy” McElroy, 79, who departed this life Friday, Jan. 5.
Mrs. McElroy was born May 14, 1927 in Toomsuba, Miss., a daughter of Milton and Bessie Moody Reed, coming to this area in 1947.
She worked for General Motors Lordstown in the assembly plant for over 20 years, retiring in 1991. She was a member of Greater Calvary Baptist Church and its choir and usher board. She enjoyed fishing, gardening and bingo.
She leaves to cherish her memory her devoted husband of 60 years, Robert Lee McElroy, whom she married Feb. 1, 1946; four sons, Eddee (Vivian) of Liberty, Robert James (Diedre) of Los Angeles, Colman (Charlene) of Virginia and James (Sue) of Youngstown; two daughters, Raheema (Leonard) Franklin of Youngstown and Mildred “Peaches” McElroy of New Castle, Pa.; two sisters, Mildred Pack of Youngstown and Bessie Bailey of Philadelphia; 22 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and a host of other family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Elizabeth Gowdy and Sadie Griffin; two brothers, Jeff and Thomas Lee Reed; and her adopted son, Troy McElroy.
Friends may call from noon to 1 p.m. Thursday at the church.
