Frances Crable Sutter, 88
EAST LIVERPOOL Frances Crable Sutter, 88, passed away Monday, Jan. 8, at Alterra Clare Bridge Cottage of Austintown, where she had been residing for the past year.
Born Sept. 23. 1918 in Buehl, Idaho, she was the daughter of the late Bernard James Callan and Mabel Olive Stearnes Callan.
She had resided in East Liverpool for 40 years, where she met and married her husband, Richard R. Crable.
Following Mr. Crables death, she married G. Edward Sutter Jr. in the late 1970s and resided in Bellevue, Pa. until his death in 2004. While in Bellevue, she was a member of the Pittsburgh Athletic Association, and had been a member of the Iroquois Club at Conneaut Lake, where they had a summer home.
Protestant by faith, she had worked for the former Crable Insurance Agency at one time. She served as an auxiliary volunteer at East Liverpool City Hospital, was a board member at the Mary Patterson Home here, and at one time was a member of the East Liverpool Country Club. In addition, she also belonged to the East Liverpool Womens Club and the former E.L.G.G.A.
Always the hostess, she loved to entertain, and also enjoyed playing bridge and cribbage, doing crossword puzzles and reading.
She will be missed by her many friends and her loving family, which include a daughter, Betsy Crable Miller and her husband William L. Miller of East Liverpool; and two stepdaughters, Diane Sutter of Boston and Helen Sutter Turkalj of Greensburg, Pa.
In addition to her husbands, she was preceded in death by a son, Richard F. Crable; a grandson, Jason Miller; and a sister, Margaret McGarry.
There are five grandchildren surviving, Michael Miller and his wife Danielle of St. Michael, Minn., Mark Miller and his wife Kim of Cincinnati, Lauri Whitaker and her husband Bryan of Spokane, Wash., Rick Crable of Orlando, Fla. and Christopher Crable Stewart of Spokane.
There are also two step grandchildren, Travis Turkalj and Kyle Turkalj, along with six great-grandchildren. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews, as well as her longtime and dearest friend, Helen Sant.
Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the Dawson Funeral Home with the Rev. Katrina Lewis of Westminster Presbyterian Church officiating.
Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery.
