William Francis Wise, 94
POLAND An open memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. Friday at the Good Hope Lutheran Church in North Lima, for William Francis Wise, 94, formerly of the Boardman area, who passed away peacefully Monday evening at his home in Shepherd of the Valley Assisted Living Community surrounded by family and friends.
William, affectionately known as Buzz or Bill, was born July 23, 1912 in East Palestine, the son of George and Evelyn (McCabe) Wise.
Bill was a U.S. Navy veteran serving during WWII and guarded President Roosevelt.
He was the owner and operator of Boardman Auto Parts on Market Street for 25 years along with his wife Pauline and son Bill Jr. He also served his community as a bus driver with the Boardman School System for 20 years.
He was a former member of the Paradise Lutheran Church and a current member of the Good Hope Lutheran Church.
He leaves behind his wife of 60 years, the former Pauline Opritza, whom he married June 30, 1946; their three children, Evelyn Wise of Boardman, William (Nancy) Wise of Simi Valley, Calif. and Dr. Richard (Toni) Wise of Poland; and four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, George Wise; and sisters, Mary Powell and Loretta Tyrell.
Friends and family may call from 6 to 7 p.m. Friday at the church (located on Route 7 and 165) in North Lima.
