Naomi Weeden, 83
YOUNGSTOWN Services will be Wednesday at noon at Alpha & Omega First Baptist Church for Mrs. Naomi Weeden, 83, who departed this life Thursday, January 11, 2007 at Forum Health Northside Medical Center.
Mrs. Weeden was born December 17, 1923 in Birmingham, Ala., a daughter of Jessie and Beulah Akles Willis.
She was a cook at various restaurants and was a great homemaker. She also worked at Strouss Department Store until she became ill in 1981. Even though she could not work at a full-time job, she still continued to volunteer for various organizations and was a devoted woman with Christ.
She was a member of Old Glory Church, where she served as church mother, and various duties under the pastorate of Rev. E. P. Adams.
Her husband, Jerry, whom she marred November 23, 1955, passed away in 1987.
She leaves to cherish her precious memory her children, Dujuane (Sausirae) Weeden, Tyronda Pierce, Floy Willis, Jr., and Sherry Willis; grandchildren, whom she reared, Nellie (Clarence) Kitchen and Lebron Matthews and a host of other grandchildren; great-grandchildren, Sophia, Venus, Rasheira, Ishmaa`ily, Faushia, Kajuane, Dujuane, Jr., Keasia and a host of other great-grandchildren; a sister, Rachel Griffin of Birmingham, Ala.; a special loved one, Kelda Gayles; and a host of other family and friends.
Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her children, Floy Willis, Freddie Jo Matthews and Cleotha Weeden; and brothers, Melvin, Jerry, Johnny B. Obrown, and Zachirah Willis.
Friends may call from 11 a.m. to noon at Alpha & Omega First Baptist Church.
