Madeline V. Durkin, 96
YOUNGSTOWN Funeral services will be Saturday at 9:30 a.m. at the Kubina Yuhasz Funeral Home, Boardman Chapel, 5925 Market St., and at 10 a.m. at Saint Christine Church for Madeline V. Durkin, 96, who died Tuesday at Saint Elizabeth Medical Center after a short illness.
Mrs. Durkin was born July 16, 1910 in Youngstown, a daughter of John and Anna Tybor Mika.
A lifelong resident of Youngstown, she attended St. Stanislaus Grade School and was in the first graduating class at East High School.
Prior to her marriage, she was employed as a bookkeeper at Schwebels Baking Co., Firestone Tire, Republic Rubber and the Drivers Union.
She was a member of the Saint Christine Catholic Church.
She is survived by her husband, George C. Durkin, whom she married June 10, 1950; two sons, George J. of Youngstown and Edward J. (Kathy) of Parma; and many nieces and nephews in this area.
She was preceded in death by six brothers, Andrew Mika, Stanley Mika, Atty. Felix Mika, Joseph Mika, John Mika and Edward Mika; and four sisters, Mary Holden, Julia Blaski, Stella Stepien and Anna Andre.
