Guenther H. Hille, 89

CANFIELD - A memorial service will be held at a later date for Guenther H. Hille, 89, who passed away on Thursday, Jan. 18.
Guenther was born May 7, 1917 in Milwaukee, the son of Joseph Martin and Gertrude (Thiek) Hille.
A metallurgical engineering graduate of the University of Wisconsin, he taught metallurgical courses at the University Extension Divisions in Manitowoc and Milwaukee. He was the 1948 chairman of the Milwaukee Chapter of American Society for Metals. He was also the sales manager of RMI Titanium offices in Milwaukee, Cleveland, Connecticut and Eastern United States.
Guenther retired as the manager of sales and promotion advertising at RMI Titanium. He was the author of the most comprehensive titanium literature, covering Mechanical Properties, Welding, Corrosion Resistance, Basic Design Facts and others.
He was a member of the American Society for Testing Materials. He was also a member of the F-4 Committee concerned with orthopedic implants and continued to successfully introduce titanium because of its high strength corrosion resistance, as the ideal metal for surgical implants.
Guenther is survived by two children, Barbara and her husband Bud Bort and Brad G. and his wife Becky Hille, both of Canfield, as well as five grandchildren, Joseph, Justin, Jacob, John and Mike, and six great-grandchildren, John, Mike, Megan, Nathan, Steffi and Jack.
Guenther was preceded in death by his wife, the former Dorothy Mattison, whom he married Oct. 16, 1942, and passed away Dec. 16, 2006.
