Master Sgt. Ronald W. Sherman, 69

POLAND – Friends are invited to join in a memorial service Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Mount Olivet United Church of Christ in North Lima for Master Sgt. Ronald W. Sherman, 69, retired U.S. Air Force, who died Wednesday morning at St. Elizabeth Health Center of a sudden heart attack after being stricken at his residence.
Ron was born March 18, 1938 in Canfield, the son of Ralph and Hepsy Marianne Evans Sherman.
He was a 1957 graduate of Canfield High School. He had worked at Metal Carbides in Boardman for more than 30 years before retiring as a supervisor. He had also served in the United States Air Force for more than 35 years before retiring as a master sergeant.
He is survived by his wife, the former Betty Danchise, whom he married June 6, 1964; a daughter, Belinda Jo (Brian) Poole of Painesville; a son, Derek S. (Roxanne) Sherman of New Springfield; two brothers, Ralph R. (Joyce) Sherman Jr. of Lynchburg, Va. and Roger G. (Donna) Sherman of New Middletown; and two grandsons, Bryson and Blake Poole.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Ronald’s family will also greet friends at a reception following the services Sunday at the church.
The family has requested that material tributes take the form of donations to the ALS Foundation in Ronald’s memory.
