Thelma C. Barker, 76
AUSTINTOWN Thelma C. Barker, 76, died at 4:15 p.m. Monday, Nov. 26, at her home surrounded by her loving family; dear friend, Virginia; and her nurse, Linda.
She was born Sept. 8, 1931 in Stark, Ky. to Robert and Myrtle (Waggoner) Barker and moved to the Niles area in 1950.
Thelma was a homemaker and a loving wife, mother, and friend.
A strong woman of faith and endurance, Thelma was a member of the Niles Christian Assembly and Dorcas Fellowship. She enjoyed flower gardening, country music, and Christian hymns.
She is survived by her husband, Beecher Barker, whom she married Nov. 13, 1948; a daughter, Elaine (John) Westerfeld of Austintown; a grandson, David (Nicole) Packard of Austintown; three grandchildren, Branden, Noah and Nicholas Packard; and a brother, Dairl (Carla) Hanshaw of Niles.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her grandparents, who raised her, Charles and Hattie (Roberts) Waggoner; a brother; and two sisters.
There will be calling hours today from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Holeton-Yuhasz Funeral Home in Niles.
The funeral will be Thursday, Nov. 29, at 11 a.m. at the funeral home.
Burial will be at Kerr Cemetery.
