Angeline Blackwell Monroe, 101

YOUNGSTOWN – Services will be Friday, Nov. 30 at 11 a.m. at the Alpha & Omega First Baptist Church for Mrs. Angeline Blackwell Monroe, 101, of 1735 Belmont Ave., formerly of Rosser Avenue in Hubbard, who passed away Saturday, Nov. 24, at Guardian Healthcare.
Mrs. Monroe was born Aug. 8, 1906 in Ripley, Miss., a daughter of John Henry and Ethel Foot Blackwell.
She was a homemaker, a member of the Alpha & Omega First Baptist Church, its choir, No. 2 Usher Board and Mission Ministry, and a former member of the Daughters of Jerusalem O.E.S.
Her husband, Rubel, whom she married Dec. 28, 1924, passed away in 1996.
She leaves to cherish her memory, a son, Leon Monroe of Hubbard; two daughters, Norline (Ruby) McPeters of Hubbard and Glenda Burton of Detroit; two sisters, Bernice Mitchel of Gadsden, Ala. and Geraldine Price of Racine, Wis.; a brother, Porter Blackwell of Ripley; 4 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; 12 great-great-grandchildren; and a host of family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; three children, Wayane, Catherine, and Margaree; five sisters, Bertha, Ethel Lee, Mary, Fannie, and Jauneta; and seven brothers, John, Charley, Robert, Franklin, Lethan, Ed, and Alex.
Friends may call Friday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the church.
