Joseph Johnson, 80

YOUNGSTOWN – There will be services Saturday, Dec. 1, at 1 p.m. at the L.E. Black, Phillips & Holden Funeral Home for Mr. Joseph Johnson, 80, who departed this life Friday, Nov. 23, at Beeghly Emergency room.
Mr. Johnson was born June 22, 1927 in East St. Louis, Ill., a son of Will and Ollie Lydell Johnson.
He worked for the City Asphalt & Paving Company for 30 years and was the owner and operator of Johnson’s Paving, retiring in 1990. He also was the proprietor of the Paris Inn in Campbell for 30 years. He enjoyed cooking, sports, and watching television. He especially loved and enjoyed being with his grandchildren.
He leaves to cherish his precious memory, his beloved wife of 48 years, the former Catherine Beedles, whom he married July 3, 1959; his children, Thomas Neal of Austintown, Michael Cobb and Lynn Johnson, both of Chicago, Earl C. Johnson of Youngstown, and Kevin S. Johnson of Columbus; seven grandchildren, Nelton Neal, Kimberly Neal, Jawawn Traylor, Jamail Johnson, Bruce Alexander, Seraeah Johnson and Tresean Johnson; three sisters, Artie McWheter and Delano Johnson of St. Louis, Ill., and Willa Mae Slaughter of Chicago; his mother-in-law, Aszlina Beedles, of whom he was very fond; and a host of nieces, nephews, other family, and friends.
Friends may call Saturday from noon to 1 p.m. at the funeral home.
