Maria Pagano Petrella, 101
GIRARD Maria Pagano Petrella, 101, died Wednesday, Nov. 28, at Hospice House in Poland.
She was born May 29, 1906 in Roccalumera (Messina), Sicily, the daughter of the late Paolo and Nazerina (Chrisafulli) Trina, and moved to Girard in 1924.
She worked for Ohio Leather and U.S. Steel McDonald Works. She was a member of St. Rose Church, St. Rose Senior Citizens, the Mount Carmel Society, the Grandmothers Club and the Ohio Leather Works Old Timers.
Her first husband, Joseph Pagano, whom she married in Italy in 1924, passed away in 1934. Her second husband, Dominic Petrella, whom she married in 1946, passed away in 1952.
She is survived by four sons, Guy (Irene) Pagano, Sam (Dahlia) Pagano and Andrew (Millie) Petrella, all of Girard, and James (Delores) Petrella of Boardman; a daughter, Angela (Felix) Bevilacqua of Girard; 15 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
Besides her parents and her husbands, she was preceded in death by an infant son; three brothers, Anthony, John and Sam Trina; a sister, Carmella Trina; and a grandson, James Petrella.
Calling hours will be today from 5 to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the McClurkin Funeral Home in Girard, where there will be prayers at 10:30 a.m. Saturday.
There will be a Mass of Christian Burial Saturday at 11 a.m. at St. Rose Church.
Interment will be at Girard City Cemetery.
