Dominic Ruggiero Sr., 79
AUSTINTOWN There will be a Mass of Christian Burial Saturday, Dec. 1, at 10 a.m. at St. Cyril and Methodius Church for Dominic Ruggiero Sr., 79, who died Wednesday at St. Elizabeth Health Center.
Dominic was born Oct. 8, 1928 in Braddock, Pa., the son of Frank and Mary Grainy Ruggiero, and moved to this area as a child.
He worked as a craneman for Youngstown Sheet and Tube, retiring in 1977. Upon his retirement, he worked as a delivery man for Crishals Florist. Dominic was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII. He enjoyed roller skating, going to Mountaineer and golf, having made a hole in one at Tanglewood Golf Courses No. 2 green.
Dominic cherished and enjoyed spending time with his five granddaughters, Jamie, Kristin and Lauren Pettola of Canfield, Ashley Ruggiero of Columbus, and Dominique Ruggiero of Poland.
He is survived by his daughter, Janice (Mike) Pettola of Canfield; his sons, Dominic of Poland and Bobby (Terri) Ruggiero of Columbiana; sisters, Christine Kelly, Antomella DoCampo, and Janet Banko; and brothers, Frank, Auggie, and Ralph Ruggiero.
Dominic was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Sophia (Kukla), whom he married April 18, 1953 and who died May 18, 1996; a brother, John; and a sister, Philomena Ferraro.
Family and friends may call today from 4 to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 9 to 9:30 at the Schiavone Funeral Home.
