William Odell Divers, 87
AUSTINTOWN Services will be Friday, Feb. 20, 2009, at noon at the L.E. Black, Phillips & Holden Funeral Home for Mr. William Odell Divers, 87, who departed this life Monday, Feb. 16, 2009, at Campus Health Care.
Mr. Divers, who was lovingly called Bill, was born June 15, 1921 in High Coal, W.Va., a son of Fred and Shellie Mullens Divers.
He was a 1939 graduate of Washington High School in London, W.Va. and attended Bethune-Cookman College.
He moved from West Virginia to Rochester, N.Y. in 1946, then to Youngstown in 1996.
While in Rochester, Bill was employed as a property manager with the City of Rochester for 16 years. Upon moving to Youngstown, he worked as an alcoholic counselor with the Salvation Army.
He was a former member of the Faith Temple Church in Rochester and a current member of the Antioch Baptist Church in Youngstown.
He leaves to cherish his beloved memory, a daughter, Michelle G. Robinson of New York; a nephew, Fred Willis of Las Vegas; his faithful and devoted caregiver, Audrey Harris; and a host of extended family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, George, Henry and James Divers; and sisters, Mable Christian, Ruth Cooper and Mary Divers.
Friends may call from 11 a.m. to noon at the funeral home.
