Emil J. (Mixy) McKula (Mixy), 81

YOUNGSTOWN – Funeral services will be held on Monday at 11 a.m. at the Vaschak-Kirila Funeral Home and at 11:30 a.m. at St. Christine Church for Emil J. (Mixy) McKula, 81, who passed away early Wednesday morning.
He was born April 28, 1928, a son of the late Emil and Mary (Baluch) McKula.
Emil was a graduate of Chaney High School. He was a steel worker at J & L in Niles for 18 years and also worked for the Youngstown Vindicator filling newspaper boxes.
Emil was in the U.S. Marines, serving in the Korean War as a rifle marksman.
He was a member at St. Christine Church, Infant Jesus Prague, VFW Lt. Charles W. Brown Jr. Post and Jednota Branch No. 308.
Emil enjoyed golf, bowling and was an avid Ohio State Buckeye and Cleveland Browns fan and also the Indians.
He is survived by his loving wife, Irene Kozak, whom he married Sept. 5, 1949; one son, Bill (Lisa) McKula of Austintown; one brother, Eugene (Rose) McKula of Youngstown; one sister, Dorothy (Robert) Nemcik of Austintown; two grandchildren, Billy and Alyssa McKula of Austintown; several nieces and nephews; two sister-in-laws, Ann Lee Hripko and Beverly Kozak
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Joseph.
Calling hours will be Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Vaschak-Kirila Funeral Home.
