Roseann Theresa Baca, MS, MT(ASCP), SM, 49

CANFIELD – There will be a Mass of Christian Burial held on Monday, Aug. 10, 2009, at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Youngstown with the Very Rev. Msgr. Michael J. Cariglio officiating, preceded by a 9:15 a.m. prayer service held at the Rossi & Santucci Funeral Home, 4700 Market St. in Boardman for Roseann Theresa Baca, 49, who went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, Aug. 5, 2009, with her loving family and many friends at her side at the Hospice House after a courageous battle with breast cancer..
Roseann’s friendly smile and the hello she always spoke to everyone will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
She was born July 12, 1960, in Warren, the daughter of Alberto Francesco and Norma (Fiore) Baca and was a lifelong area resident.
Roseann was employed with Humility of Mary Health Partners for 31 years. She started at the age of 18 as a clerk in the Laboratory Department. She went on and became a Medical Technologist along with Microbiology Manager. Roseann was currently the Laboratory Manager at St. Joseph Health Center in Warren, Lab Manager for St. Elizabeth Emergency and Diagnostic Center in Austintown, and Laboratory Manager for the Microbiology at St. Elizabeth Health Center.
Roseann also was a limited service faculty member at Youngstown State University in the Health Professions, where she taught microbiology and other health care courses.
She attended St. Charles Elementary School, and was a 1978 honors graduate of Cardinal Mooney High School, where she was a member of the National Honor Society and received many awards in Biology, Mathematics, Psychology, English and Chemistry II. Roseann then went on and graduated with her Bachelor’s Degree of Science in Medical Technology in 1980 and received her Master’s Degree in Chemistry in 1987, both from Youngstown State University.
Roseann held certifications as a registered Medical Technologist and a specialty in Microbiology, both from the American Society of Clinical Pathologists.
Roseann was a very active member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, where she was an extraordinary Minister, participated in Perpetual Eucharistic Adoration, belonged to the Mothers of Crucifix Society and was past secretary, the St. Monica guild and was past treasurer, past CCD Teacher, helped with coffee and donuts, the spaghetti dinners, past member of Parish Council, was on the committee for New Members, and was a chairperson for the annual festival with the bar tickets.
Roseann loved competing in ballroom dancing and traveling, especially going to Canada and to Chautauga with her close friend, Sandy Ross and family. She enjoyed cooking, reading, working in the yard, all types of crafts, and cross stitching, which she has many of them on her walls at home.
She leaves behind to hold onto her precious memories, her mother, Norma Fiore Baca; a brother, Michael Baca; aunt, Rose Marie Fiore, all with whom she made her home; her aunts and uncles, Tony (Verna) Fiore of Hubbard and Betty Baca and Andrew Onder, both of Warren; and numerous cousins and friends.
She was preceded in death by her father and grandparents.
Friends may call on Sunday, Aug. 9, 2009, from 3 to 6 p.m. at the Rossi & Santucci Funeral Home, 4700 Market St. in Boardman.
Entombment will take place at Calvary Cemetery in Youngstown
