Charles R. “Buzz” Replogle, 88

VERO BEACH, FLA.– During World War II, Charles Replogle was stationed at Melbourne Naval Base. Later in life since he loved this area, he returned to make Vero Beach his home.
His childhood was spent in Akron, and he attended Akron University. In 1941, he joined the Navy as a mechanic and later was chosen for the Navy Choir. After his service, he returned to Ohio.
All through his life, he had a love for automobiles. As a career, it was not surprising that he chose the automotive field. He became the youngest Chrysler dealer in the country in 1950. He joined the Youngstown Buick Agency, set many sales records, and was soon promoted to vice president. Later, he struck out on his own to establish Omega Motors and Buzz Replogle Buick in New Castle, Pa.
At age 57, he suffered a severe heart attack and retired to Florida. Inheriting a natural ear and timing, he turned to his love for music. He took up the harmonica and became very proficient. He gave many musical programs for various clubs and senior citizens groups both playing instruments and singing.
He was a member of Youngstown Kiwanis for 30 years, and a member both the Cornerstone Presbyterian Church in Youngstown and the First Presbyterian Church of Vero Beach.
On Saturday, Oct. 3, Buzz passed on leaving his loving wife of 66 years, Betty Replogle, a former teacher in the Boardman Ohio School System.
His children includes his son, Charles of Poland and daughter, Rhonda Ross of Atlanta. He also had four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Buzz was 88 years old.
In his later years, his enjoyment of the outdoors was expressed in his nurturing of flowers and trees. His friends will remember his ready smile and zest for life.
Memorial services will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Hospice House of Vero Beach, 901 37th St., Vero Beach, FL. 32960.
