Katherine Chengelis, 78

NILES – Funeral services will be held on Monday at 11 a.m. at St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church, with Father John Karabatsos officiating, for Katherine Chengelis, 78, who entered into rest early Thursday at Autumn Hills Care Center.
Katherine was born Dec. 10, 1931 in Salonika, Greece, the daughter of the late Aggeli and Falcona Angelidou, coming to the United States in 1954.
She was a homemaker and a member of the church and its Philoptohos Society.
Her husband, Philip Chengelis, whom she married June 5, 1955, passed away on June 6, 1998.
Katherine will be sadly missed by many, including her son, Gus (Karen) Chengelis of Mesa, Ariz.; daughters, Evelyn (George) Campbell of Niles and Faye (David) Martin of Reno, Nev.; and a sister, Barbara Lemonis of Campbell. She also leaves three grandchildren, Christopher Campbell, Megan Campbell and Nicole Martin.
Friends may call on Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Vaschak-Kirila Funeral Home, 3100 Canfield Road in Youngstown, where a prayer service will be at 4 p.m. and on Monday from 10:30 to 11 a.m. at St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church.
