Genevieve R. Platt, 76
AVON LAKE Genevieve R. Platt (Rozum), 76, formerly of Youngstown, passed away, Friday, Dec. 29, 2006 at her home following complications of breast cancer.
Mrs. Platt was born Aug. 29, 1930 in Youngstown, and had lived in Avon Lake the past 26 years.
Mrs. Platt was the owner of Designs by Genevieve, a flower design company that she operated for many years. Besides running the business, Mrs. Platt would also teach flower design classes at the Avon Lake Public Library and various area garden clubs.
She was a member of St. Joseph Church, Avon Lake, where she would put her design talents to work by helping decorate the church for holidays. She was a member of Dr. Diazs American Cancer Society Elyria Relay for Life Team. She was an integral part of fundraising as a member of the Friends of the Westside Catholic Center and was a member of the Youngstown Garden Club.
Mrs. Platt is survived by her husband of 53 years, Richard D.
Other survivors include a daughter, Jennifer Samuel (Wayne) of Parma; four sons, Michael Platt (Tina) of Marysville, Christopher Platt (Margaret) of Indianapolis, Vincent Platt of Avon Lake and Stephen Platt of North Olmsted. She is also survived by six grandchildren, Bethany, Nicholas, Bobby, Thomas, Sarah and Mary Kate; brother John Rozum of Logan, Utah, and Rosemary Kotch of Sun City West, Ariz.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Mary (Andrejcak) Rozum.
Friends may call at the Busch Funeral Home, 163 Avon-Belden Road in Avon Lake on Tuesday, Jan. 2 from 7 to 9 p.m.
A memorial service will be Wednesday in St. Joseph Church, 32929 Lake Road in Avon Lake at 10 a.m. Fr. Timothy OConnor of the Church will officiate.
Interment is private.
